Re: Hate Thread

I hate the online communities of games like League of Legends, Heroes of Newerth, Dota, and when it inevitably happens, Dota 2. In every instance of me playing these games, the competitive atmosphere of the games lead people into acting like enraged XBL twelve year olds, blaming everyone for everything in spite of the truth about the situation.

A blatant hatred, and contempt for new players. Awful manners, swearing, and in a lot of cases, people who will ruin your game because they're too upset about something to continue playing seriously, or at all.

When you're the newbie of the situation, you will be held in universal contempt and blamed for every bad thing that could possibly happen within the game. Possibly when you're not even within -reach- of said situation. You'll also be hassled for the items you've chosen to purchase.

When you're the average player of the situation, the person laning with you will blame you for every mistake either of you make. And if it's not him, it's some asshole somewhere on your team, no doubt using a notoriously easy champion/hero, and racking up the kills.

When you're the most skilled player on your team, you're most likely grouped with two new players, one asshole, and one disconnected player(Disconnected players will no doubt magically turn into three about half-way into the game). You'll end up getting frustrated about the results of the game, because in spite of skill, you can't really hold your own against four other players at once.

I'm guilty of blaming new players for losses in the heat of the situation, but in the few situations where that's happened I would regret it later, knowing what the situation is like. In all honesty, it's hard not to blame somebody else, especially with the amount of bad spirited bullshit around you.

There's just so much bad sportsmanship within these games it's astounding, and rather frustrating considering how fun the games are when things go well, and all is well.

Oh, and one more thing, just before I stopped playing Heroes of Newerth, the last straw was the more skilled players creating new accounts, for the express purpose of being able to play with people less skilled than them.

The result would be three snarky "Pros" on one of the teams involved, speaking down to every other player in a derogatory manner, and spouting out "NOOB!!!1!1" at every single turn, and every single death. Yeah, when I join a game titled "5v5 AP Noobs Only", I expect to play against and with noobs, not snarky asshats stroking their e-peen and feeling high and mighty because they can beat the least skilled players of an obscure internet game.

GOD-DAMN, if you don't want to play with noobs, then don't join games titled "Noobs only".

Re: Hate Thread

i've played a fair bit of lol and have noticed that in maybe 2% of games. While you may be speaking correctly by steriotype I'm not sure it is one that holds true soe much.

Re: Hate Thread

I've tried DotA. Didn't really appeal to me when it first came out, so I didn't play much. As a result, when I finally did decide to check it out in real matches, I was so fucking turned away because of the attitude of people who played.

I've tried HoN. Fucking all the DotA try-hards went there, absolutely abysmal community, in game and on forums.

I've tried LOCO. Didn't get past the 'training' due to having a hard as fuck time figuring out which items to get, so I dunno about that community.

I play LoL.
Against bots, most of the people are fine with suckage, and they'll help you if you ask for it. Though you'll still get trolls who will sit on fountain/feed/try to surrender every chance they get, for the most part people are just there to learn a champion and have fun.
Against real players...... it's gotten better from when it first came out, but there are still assholes that will blame everything on the one person. Usually the 'scapegoat' is the one who has actually been trying the hardest, but has the most (or close to it) deaths and no kills. Never mind that the rest of the team keeps failing to commit. Never mind they have the most assists. It's all their fault, because it could never be anyone else's.
Your best bet, and I realize this gets said a lot, but it's so damn true, is to play it with a friend or four. At least then you can have some fun coordinating with your friend(s).
On the forums..... you still get the typical assholes, and the fact that it's a MOBA game does increase their numbers, but for the most part, most of the people on there are willing to help you out/hear your ideas.

Of course, this all has just been my experience with these games. I know there are those out there that fucking love the HoN community and despise the LoL one.

I hate dragging my friend's drunk ass back to his bed every year on his birthday. Thank goodness this is the last time.

For every night without cuddling, a polar bear cries. Or something. Still, it definitely sucks.

Yeah, I'm doing my best to hold it together. Add to the fact I'm PMSing and it's almost like i can't stop crying. It's honestly annoying XD

If that were true, the snowy parts of the earth would be perpetually scarred by whinging and howling and whining. Sort of like some dogs when you try to bathe them, but on a much larger scale.

Who the flying pig shit hammers at 8:50 in the goddamn fucking morning? My asshole neighbours, that's who. Here's hoping their kid is hit by a car to even out the karmic balance.

Re: Hate Thread

My father once got out of bed at, like, 7 in the morning on Easter Sunday and yelled across the neighborhood at the guy that was mowing his lawn, telling him to knock it the hell off because people were trying to get some sleep.

And before anyone says anything, no, my father was not Catholic, so don't say anything about him having to be up for church anyway. Also, it's been a while, might not have been Easter, but it was assfuck early in the morning, on a holiday, and this guy was waking up the neighborhood.

Re: Hate Thread

I hate how fucking quickly people are to label someone as a 'troll'.

The word has lost any real value it had.

Now it's just another meaningless word people throw around because it sounds funny, with no regard to the weight it's supposed to carry.

Re: Hate Thread

Ha, that reminds me of an article that was in one our newspapers last week about some dude who kept trolling tribute pages on Facebook for a couple of girls that had commited suicide. They kept speaking as if anyone who uses the internet were loners, unstable people and often used the term 'internet nerds'. Made me rage a bit.

I hate getting up at 4:30. I hate that I cut my index finger, and it makes typing awkward. I hate that I probably cut my index finger because I was so spaced out because I got up at 4:30. I hate that I get to do it all over tomorrow (save for cutting my finger, hopefully).
