Re: Hate Thread
I hate the online communities of games like League of Legends, Heroes of Newerth, Dota, and when it inevitably happens, Dota 2. In every instance of me playing these games, the competitive atmosphere of the games lead people into acting like enraged XBL twelve year olds, blaming everyone for everything in spite of the truth about the situation.
A blatant hatred, and contempt for new players. Awful manners, swearing, and in a lot of cases, people who will ruin your game because they're too upset about something to continue playing seriously, or at all.
When you're the newbie of the situation, you will be held in universal contempt and blamed for every bad thing that could possibly happen within the game. Possibly when you're not even within -reach- of said situation. You'll also be hassled for the items you've chosen to purchase.
When you're the average player of the situation, the person laning with you will blame you for every mistake either of you make. And if it's not him, it's some asshole somewhere on your team, no doubt using a notoriously easy champion/hero, and racking up the kills.
When you're the most skilled player on your team, you're most likely grouped with two new players, one asshole, and one disconnected player(Disconnected players will no doubt magically turn into three about half-way into the game). You'll end up getting frustrated about the results of the game, because in spite of skill, you can't really hold your own against four other players at once.
I'm guilty of blaming new players for losses in the heat of the situation, but in the few situations where that's happened I would regret it later, knowing what the situation is like. In all honesty, it's hard not to blame somebody else, especially with the amount of bad spirited bullshit around you.
There's just so much bad sportsmanship within these games it's astounding, and rather frustrating considering how fun the games are when things go well, and all is well.
Oh, and one more thing, just before I stopped playing Heroes of Newerth, the last straw was the more skilled players creating new accounts, for the express purpose of being able to play with people less skilled than them.
The result would be three snarky "Pros" on one of the teams involved, speaking down to every other player in a derogatory manner, and spouting out "NOOB!!!1!1" at every single turn, and every single death. Yeah, when I join a game titled "5v5 AP Noobs Only", I expect to play against and with noobs, not snarky asshats stroking their e-peen and feeling high and mighty because they can beat the least skilled players of an obscure internet game.
GOD-DAMN, if you don't want to play with noobs, then don't join games titled "Noobs only".
