"I... I don't know really. Because you know that if they imprison you for theft, you'll at least get fed and be able to stay warm at night? Or something along those lines, maybe... I guess. Maybe because you like me? Or you're just trying to wait it out until you can slip free and steal my belongings perhaps," Lena replied softly, genuinely unsure as to why the girl hasn't tried to break free.

She laughed again shrugging helplessly as she listened. "All good guesses, but imprisonment is likely to be torture, and I value my freedom above most things so that ones out. Hmm. I do like you but, not enough to go to jail for," she winked. "I've got not more interest in your belongings, fairs fair on that. No dice on your guess, but good enough I suppose."

"I'm gonna get some shut eye now. Mmm, did I catch your name?"

"Hmm, I see. I suppose that makes sense," Lena replied to the answers the girl gave her for her guesses, before she glanced up at being asked her name. "Oh. Lena... Lena Weiss. That's my name. My family serve one of the noble families in the capital. Though that doesn't really mean I left with a whole lot of money however," she then said, bowing her head politely as she'd been taught when introducing herself for the first time to someone.

"Hehehe, I knew it," she said with a bright smile, eyes closed. "Noble. All the way in the capital city itself. Whoo boy." She shrugged helplessly once. "Don't hold it against you. Money or otherwise ain't the point though, you know?"

With that she seemed content to left the conversaiton go and soon the wagon drifted off into silence aside from the sounds of its travels across roads which passed villages and farmland as they neared the city of Eastmarch.

The next day drifted back into routine. True to her word Susie, if that was her name. Made no efforts to resist or escape and no sign of their comrades were found. It was mostly open plains but with the city in sight the final watch was skipped and they rolled in towards the massive stone walled city of Eastmarch.

Easily ten times larger than Farnshold but certainly not nearly as large as the largest city that Lena's known the city of Eastmarch seems to stretch in all directions. A sprawl of houses both within and outside of the walls such that they were travelling through urban dwellings for an hour before arriving at the central gate.

"Well Susan. It's been nice to know you, but we're going to turn you over to the guards."

"Course, a pleasure," she turned and gave Lena a wink as they rolled up the city gates and the guards approached.

"No, I'm no noble. My family serves them. But we aren't nobles ourselves," Lena replied before she too prepared to sleep for a while.

Lena was quite surprised that Susie, if that was truly her name, stayed quiet for the most part and didn't struggle or try and break free. After a mostly uneventful couple of more days or so of travel, Lena was quite taken aback by the sight of Eastmarch. The capital was easily much larger, but still, a large city was always a sight to behold. When they approached the gates, and John said what he did, Lena was again a bit surprised by the wink Susie gave her, not truly understanding how she was being so... cheerful about all this.

"I really don't want to, but... we can't have you robbing other people either though," Lena said as they approached the gates, with her sighing softly, and preparing to wave to the guards. "Hello there. We're from Farnshold, and I have a message for the marquis. Might you direct me towards his hold? I have a message from the duke of Farnshold that I was told to give to the marquis. And also, we were assailed upon the road, about a couple of days ago by some thieves, and we captured one. She's young though, so please... go easy on her, there's no need for brutality," Lena would say to the guards as they approached, showing the sealed message for the marquis.

"Don't sweat it. It was nice travelling with you for a few days," she said with a slight wave of her hand.

John spoke to the guards, declaring the goods and Susie whom they eventually took. They regarded your words indifferently. They weren't rough with her, as she made no efforts to resist but clasped her in irons and one led her into the guardhouse. Presumably for sentencing based on the remarks that John said. There was likely to be later business.

"Well that's all done. I think this too is where we part ways, little lady," he says with a coy smile. "I'll be staying at the Red Rooster Inn for a few days before I return home, if you need anything or decide to head back. I let the guards know you've business with the Marquiss and handed the Dukes letter explaining it." With that the guards approach to speak with you and John would leave to enter the city with his wagon.

As he claimed two guards approach politely. "Are you miss Weiss from Farnshold?"

"Mmm, alright then Susie. You stay out of any more trouble now. You hear?" Lena replied to Susie before they hailed the guards.

She was glad that the guards weren't rough with Susie, as she'd hate to have been the cause of any pain caused to someone who probably didn't deserve it. After talking to the guards and getting into the city, Lena nodded to John when he told her where he'd planned on staying, and after the guard came over, she looked over to him and nodded. "Aye, I'm Lena Weiss. Lead on to the marquis's home, I guess," Lena told the guard, giving John one final nod before heading off with the guards to the marquis's castle, or palace, whichever he had.

"He'll be ready to receive you tomorrow. He's welcomed you to stay in his home, or you can retire to an inn. We'll escort you, there's many to choose from, do you have any preference? If you've never been here before, we could make a recommendation based on what might interest you?"

"Oh well that's good, and I have been a bit tired since the day before yesterday. I graciously accept his offer of staying in his home for the evening," Lena replied with a polite bow. "However, I would welcome any recommendations for sightseeing in the meantime since it is earlier in the day. As I've never been to Eastmarch before," Lena then said to the guard as she followed him along.

"Ah wonderful, in that case we won't need to escort you, though can if you wish. As for shows. Hm." The guards share a look. "Well you may be able to find some shows. There's a few libraries of knowledge. Hrm. Well, what are your interests?"

"Well, I do like to read, and I also like to see some arena fights too, if there are any to be seen that is. And I really like gardening too to be honest. It was one of the things I kind of just enjoyed doing back home in the capital," Lena replied to the guard, looking around curiously at everything as she walked.

"No such arena, but there's always someone up for a fight at one of the guardhouses if you're looking for something martial. As for gardening, I'm sorry I'm sure there are some well tended gardens around. There is the park, but if you want hands on I wouldn't know."

The other guard nods. "Sorry, we're not terribly well versed at being tour guards," he seems sincere enough.

"I may very well take you up on that offer of a sparring match or two with some of your guards. I could always use the training. The last few weeks for me have been... difficult, both physically and mentally," Lena replied to his offer of training. "And I suppose I can take a stroll in some of the parks in the city, relax in their gardens. And it's okay, you needn't show me around the entire city. I suppose for now I could take my things to the marquis's residence to leave so I'm not carrying around all of my things to weigh me down and possibly get stolen. So let's head on up there, and I'll take a stroll around the city and stuff. Though... hmm, I could use a new spear and or a sword. Any recommendations as to who to go get new equipment from?" Lena went on to say, glancing over at the guard curiously and following him up to the marquis's home.

"Of course, follow us then," one of the guards said politely, waving the other off as he lead you through the city. "New equipment? As a guest of the Marquis he may be able to arrange something, but your gear looks pretty good. Almost any smith in the city could take care of it for you though, make sure it's all up to top condition. Been travelling pretty hard lately?"

"Well it's not that I Need new equipment, I just wanna upgrade it if I can and stuff. Since I have the money and whatnot now to do so that is, courtesy of the duke of Farnshold. I just feel that I could really use a sword or something for getting really close and personal, since a spear is good and all, but not when they're right on top of me," Lena replied to the guards with a shrug, following them along as she tried to remain her bright and cheerful self and not let any worries show.

He has a hint of recognition on his face. "Ah, the adventurer is looking for some mystical magic artifact of some kind?" He chuckles, good naturedly. "You may find something of note on the markets around, perhaps sitting in gathering dust in a nobles armory but I don't know of much, sorry. Our steel is good, but yours looks like about the finest I've seen. I agree with the sentiment though, a good dagger would help abundantly." He said with a shrug, motioning to his own shortsword on his hip.

It isn't too much longer before you both arrive near the heart of the city. The difference in wealth from the farm lands is immense but not surprising, this is every city you've known. Poverty is present, but it isn't extreme, you don't see people ignored dying in the streets but the difference is there.

The guard shows you inside, it's a manasion of sorts with a half dozen or so servants milling about. When you arrives the guard tips his head politely and heads out as the head of the house greets you warmly and shows you to your room, a modest but quite serviceable bedroom. The bed is comfortable, there's a sturdy oak desk, a chest for belongings, with a key handed to you, dressers for clothing. You are asked if there is anything you need.

"Hmhm, maybe a bit of a magical artifact that could be useful, yeah. And yeah, a good sword would be nice to have just in case and stuff. And thank you for the compliment on my spear and shield. My parents had them made for me, and the noble family that they serve helped find one of the best smiths that would do the job for a decent price, and that's how I got these really," Lena replied with a chuckle as she walked along with the guards.

After they arrived at the Marquis' home, Lena nodded back to the guard as he bid her farewell and left her in the care of the household steward. When she was brought to her room, Lena couldn't help but look around in awe, as her bedroom back home wasn't quite this lavish, though it was quite large in and of itself. She put her things all down on the bed and tested how soft the bed was and laid back to relax for a few moments before raising back up. "Oh um... just let the Marquis know that I'm going out for a little while if he wants to talk and receive the message from the duke of Farnshold. I won't be gone too long, and I should be back by lunch to dinner time. I wish to explore the city some, and see who the best blacksmith in town is too, maybe get myself a new sword or something," Lena told the steward before she made sure her things were put away, before she headed out of the place, leaving her spear and shield there since it wouldn't be too good to just carry those around the city all day, depending on where all she went. She also took three of her gold coins that the duke of Farnshold gave her, and some of the smaller coinage in her spare purse, and left everything else in the Marquis' manor, including her armor, and wearing some of her simple travel clothes.

"Please be home before too late, Lady Weiss. I shall have to send the guards to ensure your safety otherwise, while this is a safe city, there still exists crime and it would be a terrible mark against me should our guest be harm during her stay within our manor." The bed was delightfully soft, not overly opulent but well crafted and comfortable.

"The Duke shall be able to receive you tomorrow by noon, he's intended to have a meal if it suits your Ladyship.

With that she was allowed to leave. She'd have some time before nightfall and then in the morning should she wish.

"Of course sir steward, and don't worry, I should be able to handle myself, else my training would all have been for nothing. And let the marquis know that I would Love to have lunch with him when giving my message, if it pleases him that is. I'm okay with whatever he likes for receiving said message," Lena replied to the steward with a cheerful smile before she prepared to head out.

Heading out, Lena made for the shopping districts to have a look around, curious what she'd find, and deciding to search the clothing stores before heading to find the blacksmiths.

Lena's gonna look for one or two fancier dresses, some jewelry to go with said dresses, some other nicer clothes that aren't necessarily dresses, and then she'll head to the blacksmiths to look for a nice reliable sword, magical if she can find one.

Lena heads out to shop for some nicer clothes to help her fit in amongst the nobility and there, through the course of the evening finds a dress that just instantly clicks. An attendant, though way at first is sold by Lena's demeanor and helps fit it as well as make the appropriate skillful alterations at her request. The end result promises to help her make a splash wherever its worn, along with the jewelry and accessories that go a long with it, but it costs her three of her 12 gold coins.

She has little time left to go weapon hunting afterwards, but the result is much as the guards predicted. Her weapons could be touched up, she could shop for some decent quality steel in whatever kind of weapon she could hope to wield, but nobody here is capable of forging anything particularily grandiose. Stille, she might hope to find some existing seller if she looks places more exotic.

She returns to the homestead by nightfall, greeted warmly by a servant who prepares dinner for her and assists her in getting ready for the bed, a bath is drawn if she wishes, and fresh clothes are laid out. Her dress would arrive by morning.
