Re: Ancient Lands CYOA

After all this voting and switching it seems like A: Ellona, Goddess of Life, was chosen. I'll write up the next post soon (next 24 hours or so). Thanks for sticking with it everyone!

Re: Ancient Lands CYOA

Leading the awestruck young soldier by the hand, Eirin approached the shrine of Ellona, Lady of Life, Goddess of the Harvest, Health, and of Fertility. Like Landra, the Goddess of Love, Ellona was depicted in all works of art as a woman of immense beauty, but for Eirin, the Goddess had always seemed a much more 'loving' deity than any other. Ellona truly cared for the people of the land, and showed herself daily in her works. By her will were families fed and warded from illness. The injured and diseased could be miraculously given new lease on life. And mothers everywhere prayed to her for healthy children, and painless, joyful births.

There were many times during the harsh trials of her childhood that Eirin had needed some greater power to lean on, and Ellona had always been there for her. When a friend took a nasty fall, or a tavern maid was terribly beaten, it was Ellona who gave them the strength to endure and heal. When the locust swarms threatened the fields from the south, it was Ellona who allowed the warding winds to prevail and the crops to be saved. Perhaps most importantly, it was while whispering a prayer of Life that she had first met Diane, the woman who was to become the closest thing to a mother Eirin had ever known.

If there was to be a place where she was to make this union a blessed one, it would be at the shrine of the goddess who had been such a meaningful part of her life.

The shrine was made of white and green marble stone, with three shallow steps leading to an alcove displaying a statue of the goddess, robed demurely whilst still displaying an attractive figure. As was usual, Ellona was shown wearing a four pointed crown, holding a handful of grain, barley, and rye in her right fist and an ankh topped staff in her left.

There was a soft mat at the shrine where supplicants were meant to kneel and pray, and it was here that she knelt down with Dannon by her side.

"The Goddess of Life?" the young soldier asked, quizzically. "Do you want to get pregnant?"

Eirin narrowed her eyes and pushed Dannon forcefully down onto his back, then slipping her palm underneath the bottom of his shirt to feel his lean stomach muscles. He promptly attempted to prop himself up by his elbows, but Eirin remained firm, and adamantly pushed him back down.

"Shh..." she said in a whispering tone. "That is not something for either of us to decide, and don't mention it again. Just... lie back and let me have a little time to explore you."

Dannon grinned like an adorable idiot as Eirin proceeded to use both her hands to rub up and down his toned stomach and chest, enjoying his compact build. The soldier's eyes lingered on the dancer's figure, so much so that Eirin became aware of it and decided to tease him. She lifted the bottom of his shirt slowly over his head, as if to remove it entirely, but stopped it as the neckline revealed his mouth and nothing more.

"Uh... I can't see," Dannon said blindly behind the shirt.

"That's the point," cooed Eirin, a gleam in her eye. "Now stay that way. Don't move the shirt or I'll be very disappointed in you."

Once she was sure that Dannon wouldn't move it, Eirin smiled and then began to plant small kisses across his chest, while her hand began to roam across his pants, concentrating on his thighs and rubbing closer and closer to his loins, at times brushing over him, tantalizing him. She could tell easily from the way he bulged that he was prepared for her.

Planting more kisses, she edged downwards to his waistline with her moistened lips, looping a finger through the tether tightening his pants to his body and tugging it loose. The hardness beneath the fabric pushed through the freed garments, with only a small loincloth between it and her soft hands. Now Eirin gripped Dannon's manhood softly with her fingers, over his undergarment and stroked it, while her mouth moved back up his body, arriving momentarily at his lips. By feeling the path of her kisses, Dannon was waiting with an open mouth to embrace her own, but she paused, to tease him again, admiring the way he was splayed out beneath her - this fine young man, her admiring soldier.

At last she leaned in and pressed herself fully against him, kissing him passionately within the sight of her goddess. As she locked her lips with his and mingled her tongue with his own, Eirin freed his member from its stubborn cloth and began stroking it more firmly, skin against skin. His hardness swelled in her palm, so firm that she shivered involuntarily with anticipation. Another long kiss, and then she pulled back, his head following with open mouth, like a baby bird in a nest calling out for its mother.

"Ah ah... stay back..." she tut-tutted him, and frowning only slightly, he obeyed, leaning back, still blinded by his own shirt.

"Good boy."

She repositioned herself and continued stroking him, now hovering her lips close to his staff. She pulled down on the skin, examining him closely, considering the shape and look of it, before putting her wet tongue against the head and licking once, then twice over the tip. It was warm, salty, like licking a warm stick of meat. Of course, that's what it was, she thought to herself, and then plucking up more courage, wrapped her lips around the top and sucked at it while letting her tongue flicker across it. Dannon recognized this with a soft moan.

Widening her jaw, carefully avoiding contact with her teeth, Eirin lowered herself down on him, bobbing her head up and down and easing herself down to about midway along his length, using that as a nice stopping point before raising herself back up in a long, slow slurp. This produced a more pleasing, slightly louder moan from Dannon. After a minute of sucking and licking, alternating technique once or twice, Dannon began to shift beneath her, forcing her to still him with a hand on his chest.

"Eirin, please. Let me take my shirt off... if you keep doing this, I'll lose it without seeing you..."

With a giggle and then a soft, melodramatic sigh, Eirin relented and pulled the shirt the full way off his head. Encouraged by this, Dannon flung his shirt aside and grabbed Eirin by her hips, making a motion to turn her, but she stopped him short once again.

"No, I'll be on top," she said. "Stay on your back."

Such was the confident authority in her voice, Dannon remained as he was, watching silently as Eirin tugged his pants free and then repositioned herself over him, straddling her legs on either side of his hips and brushing her flower up against the tip of his wet cock, sliding it in between her labia. She guided it with her hand against her and began to work it along her body, biting her lip and closing her eyes as she prepared to take him inside her.

When she felt she was ready, she rose up on her knees and lined herself with him, looking down into his eyes as she slowly lowered herself downwards. Slowly, gently, his manhood parted her delicate petals, pushing its way inside her, filling her up as she instinctively squeezed tightly against him. Dannon grunted and moved his hips forward, going deeper. For a moment, Eirin's breath caught in her throat. And then he was in her fully. The two stared at one another, and then Eirin began to roll her hips, rocking into him. Dannon joined in the effort, timing his upward thrusts as she leaned into him, pushing deep into her, sliding up and in.

Gradually their pace quickened, and Eirin's breaths grew quicker, sharper. For several minutes the young lovers locked themselves together and enjoyed tender, exuberant love-making.

Eirin opened her eyes and arched her back, staring into the visage of Ellona as she neared her upcoming climax...

The vision floated within and beside her as if a living dream, lucid, simultaneously passing beside her true reality. In the life-dream she saw a small farmhouse, and a plot of land, tilled soil and full of greenery. She saw herself within that house, middle-aged, though still retaining much of the beauty that she now possessed. By her side was a much more mature version of Dannon, looking strong and solid, grinning like an adorable idiot, and his arm around her shoulders as she sat in bed. In her arms, and at the center of their attention was a baby girl in swaddling clothes, it had a lock of fiery red hair, just like her mother's. In through the doorway of the house came two older boys, playing with sticks, both with dark hair like their father's, sporting grey eyes and silly grins.

The vision wavered in her mind as the fast gyrations of her coupling gave way to a climactic finish for both Dannon and herself. She felt the wave of pleasure ride throughout her body, tensing her muscles tight as she felt a sudden heat inside of her. She could feel him loose himself, hard, strong spurts. And with a jolt, she saw her vision coalesce one final time, seeing the eldest, grey-eyed boy up close, and then it all fell away into reality of the shrine again. The two of them breathed heavily, Dannon's arms falling away at his sides while Eirin squirmed her body on top of him, trying to maintain that feeling of him inside of her for as long as possible.

Then something in the air made her turn and look out across the field of shrines and alters, and then above to the sky, where she looked up and beheld Crazlac, the Omen, the yellow moon, one of three that circled round the world and lit up the night sky. Crazlac was the darkest of the three, a sign of evil tidings, associated with madness, for it was said that the dark side of the yellow moon glowed red because of the demon fire lit within the abyssal realm that dwelt there. There was the stronghold of Tzul Rasha, Lord of Madness, the Smiling God, his baleful eyes glowing one yellow and one red, and his visage always twisted in a smirk reserved for the misfortunes of humanity.

A hooting laughter carried itself along the wind, and in that laughter was a voice, clear as the Omen itself. "You are already marked, for it is I that have sought you. You have a destiny to fulfill this night, and it is not for you the life of a mother, to push out a litter of mewling pups and waste away into the nothingness of history. I will make you far greater, child. Go to the water mill beyond the north gate of your city. Fall into congress with my devoted and become what you were meant to be. You shall not escape this fate."

The message came and died with the wind, as the clouds covered the glow of the yellow moon and the dream laughter drifted away.

"Eirin! Eirin snap out of it!"

Dannon's voice jarred her. "Wh-what?"

"You were just staring out at the sky. You weren't listening to anything I said. What was wrong?"

(1) Your response.

A) Tell him it was nothing. These visions aren't his concern. No need to stress him out.

B) Reassure him. Tell him about the vision of the house and the children. That will put him at ease, and it isn't a falsehood either. There is the issue of that last image anyway... are you pregnant?

C) Tell him. Tell him about the vision of Crazlac. Forget the warm and fuzzy vision. This was freaky.

D) Confide in him. Tell him about both visions.

E) Don't answer at all. Remain silent.

(2) Next plan of action.

A) Run away, leave this place immediately. Make some hasty apology to Dannon and get back home.

B) Ask Dannon to escort you home.

C) Make some excuse to Dannon and investigate the water mill alone.

D) Ask Dannon to come with you as you investigate the water mill.

I think it might be better not to wander out to the place some Elder God wants us to go at this point.

Re: Ancient Lands CYOA

The concern in Dannon's eyes struck a chord with Eirin - enough to make her want to share her own visions with him. She knew that this handsome, young lover was trustworthy and not inclined to judge her. These were superstitious times, and women who claimed to receive visions could be ridiculed or even worse - ostracized or even killed in some lands. The way the youthful soldier stared up at her however, with his bronzed skin covered in the sweat of their love-making, his developing yet strong arm reaching up to hold her shoulder in a comforting, stabilizing manner; it all told her that he would stand by her no matter what she told him.

"I saw things," she said slowly. Her voice was shaky at first, but grew stronger as she committed to telling him everything. "As we made love, Dannon, my sweet. The Goddess Ellona granted me a vision. I saw you and I, together, living as husband and wife - as father and mother to two handsome sons and a beautiful baby girl."

Dannon's eyes widened at this and his grip on her shoulder firmed. Then he looked away as a bashful smile spread across his face.

"Surely you jest with me. I am just a poor soldier. You are the idol of every man's eye who comes to watch you perform. You will have many suitors who could give you a good life. Anything your heart desired."

Eirin placed her fair skinned hand over the dark one on her shoulder as she gazed softly down at her shy soldier.

"The vision was very clear. We lived on a small farmstead. We were very happy. It seems my heart desired you, and to be the mother of your children."

She brushed one of his curly, brown locks away from his brow and then turned his face so that once again it looked up to her. The poor boy was turning red now.

"To have you as my wife... Eirin. Even in my wildest dreams I could dare not hope for it, but I would do everything in my power to make you happy."

Of all the men in this wicked city, full of fools and scoundrels who would easily make this pledge in a heartbeat for all the wrong reasons, Eirin got the feeling that Dannon meant every word. She could see a determination form in his eyes that could take him down a path that would make him that dedicated man in her life-dream. He would give her a good, simple life, full of love and companionship - and he would make whatever sacrifices he needed to to see this happen. Of all the men in this wicked city, here was a good man, yet unspoiled by evil. She wanted to run away with him that very night... save for that other vision.

"But there was more, Dannon. There was an omen. A dark one." Her voice lowered to a whisper, as if the evil spirits would hear the fear in her words and track its scent like a tiger fish to bloodied water.

"I would face any omen --" He began to speak in hot-blooded earnest, but Eirin quieted him with a slender finger over his mouth.

"Listen, Dannon. This was not merely an omen. It was Crazlac, the moon of misfortune. And there was a voice on the wind, saying that I was marked, never to be a mother. That I was to go, this night, to north gate, to the water mill that lies beyond the walls. I am to fall into congress there with the devotees of this warning voice. It is to be inescapable..."

Dannon's brows furrowed in confusion. "But, Eirin, that doesn't make any sense. How can you have two visions so contradictory to one another? The second one must be false."

"I pray you are right," Eirin said as she pulled herself off of the soldier and gathered her clothes to her body, shielding herself against the sudden night breeze."

Dannon sighed as she moved off of him, watching her body admiringly in the moonlight. "You cannot go to the water mill tonight," he said with firm resolution in his voice. "Let me get you back to your house and I'll watch over you until morning. That will make this omen of yours false."

Eirin showed him a smile even though her growing feeling of dread told her there was little reason for it. Nodding, she silently got herself dressed in her dancer's outfit and her new necklace and let the strapping young warrior guide her away from the shrine's altar. As they walked back through the temple district, Eirin could not shake the feeling that she was being watched. It was as though she could feel a pair of eyes upon her, the gaze piercing almost physically into her back, between the shoulder blades. She turned several times to look over he shoulder, certain that she would see her hidden tormenter skulking somewhere in the shadows. Yet when she turned, there was only a silence and the growing fear to greet her.

The two lovers arrived at the bridge they had crossed to get into the temple district. As they passed over the bridge's crest, they saw four men in city guard leathers seated at the benches on the far side. They bore large curved swords, and diamond shaped shields emblazoned with a symbol of a tower and a grossly tusked boar's head.

"Ahh, there they are," drawled one of the guards as he finished scratching at his short trimmed hair and placed his skull cap helm onto his head. "The fire twirling whore back from her pity fuck. Made a man out of you, eh boy?" The soldier stood up to his full height, which dwarved Dannon and Eirin.

"Our lord's not accustomed to being passed over for some whelp on Indulgence Night, nor indeed to have a most generous offer of coin spurned by some witch-eyed wench. He sent us to have a word with you two about it. You see, the boy needs to learn his place in the pecking order of this city... and you,"

He turned grinning to leer at Eirin.

"He said that if you really were into men of humble birth, that you ought to start with the best that that caste has to offer - and work your way down to the likes of him." He shook his head towards Dannon.

"Tower guards... no more than hired thugs for your lord," Dannon growled and drew his sword, placing himself between Eirin and the four men. "You'll never touch her!"

The large guard's grin turned into a frown. "Now boy... that's a very unwise thing to do. We were only going to rough you up a little, it being the charity of Indulgence Night and all... but if you go pulling your steel against those of higher rank, that's treason. If you value seeing the next sunrise, you'll put your blade away and take your licking like a smart lad."

The three men behind the guard captain drew their swords in unison, forming a menacing wall behind him. Dannon gritted his teeth and didn't make to sheath his weapon.

"I won't let them do this," he swore quietly to Eirin. "Get out of here Eirin, you need to save yourself."

********************************

A) I cannot let Dannon face these men alone. I must stay and fight them off with him. I'm quicker than these men, surely. Perhaps I can use that to my advantage?

B) I can't abandon Dannon, but these men have swords and armor, while I am unarmed. If I fight too, they could kill me easily. I must put my faith in Dannon to defend me, maybe helping him from the side while the other men are distracted with him?

C) This is madness! Dannon will get himself killed doing this. I need to convince Dannon to put away his sword. Maybe there is a chance to reason with these men? I can't let them kill him! I'll do what they want if it means they'll let him go unharmed.

D) Maybe Dannon is right. I should get out of here now, and quickly. Dannon's determined to fight. I shouldn't argue with him if he feels he's doing the right thing. I'd be no use here and maybe I can find help?

E) There's bravery and then there's stupidity. I need to convince Dannon to run with me! If we lose them in the temple grounds, perhaps we can sneak across the river somewhere upstream?

I can't believe I'm saying this, but I'll go with C. E as a secondary choice if there's a tiebreak. No doubt Dannon would fight them to the death, and I'd rather not risk the chance of losing him in such a manner...

C. Try and make a deal with the guards, let the boy go. If that doesn't work, traumatize Dannon into getting lost. Live now, kick ass later.

The story thus far, as has been collectively decided, is that Eirin is a dancer. A very beautiful, athletic dancer, but she is not trained in magics or official weapon skills. She may have the healing boon of the goddess of life, Ellona, but she has yet to realize it, and even still, that skill is unlikely to overcome these guards. She has some hand-to-hand skills that she has never used in her life.

I'd like to point out that this story is predicated on Eirin becoming a proper heroine at some point, so anytime you guys feel like giving her some combat skill when a choice comes up... ;)
