ACT [CatBellUnion] ドレスアップトラベラー/Dress Up Traveler (RJ247391)

I'm no connoisseur of H-games, I'll try just about anything if it looks remotely interesting. That said, the control in this is some of the absolute worst I've ever seen from a side-scroller, and would be barely acceptable in a Flash title. It actually prompted me to fire up Unity for the first time in over a year, last night, just to remind myself that Yes, I actually can write a better player_controller script in my sleep.

...However, I reluctantly have to concede that most H-game devs are more artist than programmer, and despite its flaws it did keep me interested enough to trudge through to the "end" - which is to say, where the dev decided to stop and release for now.

Some tips to anyone struggling with it:
  • The attack hitbox is basically your fist. Visually misleading when you've got a decent sword in your hand, and the 'blade' keeps whiffing. Might be a bug? Plan your swings accordingly.
  • Don't waste your time trying to crouch-attack the spiders. Get a little distance from them, block, and wait for them to bounce off your shield before attacking.
  • Grind the 1-1 and 1-2 levels until you've got enough slime to make the blue sword. You'll want every bit of damage you can get for the dungeon level - being able to one-shot spiders will ease the frustration considerably.
  • The Eyebats will knock you out of the air constantly. Just accept your fate, and get back up. Luckily, they do next to no damage at all.
  • Don't bother saving money, the heart in the lobby downstairs is the only thing you can spend it on. Buy as many as you can, as often as you can, it's how you level up your stats. (Money is Cheat Engine type "double" if you're thinking of going that route.)
And to CatBellUnion, a special fuck you for making the bee stingers hit you while stuck in the ground. Seriously, dick move.

I almost never post but I wanted to say this is probably the worst playing game I have ever played, from the bee stingers that stick in the ground to the lack of invincibility frames. The art is the only saving grace and made me wish this game was just a gallery instead, it would be a lot better that way.

Wow, people are really miffed about this. I dunno, though.

It's certainly clunky and feels all kinds of weird, but honestly, it's still manageable. What this could benefit from is some sort of reflect skill (on perfect block, for instance), and some i-frames after a successful dodge, but for the most part, it's an okay game.

Does this game even work...? None of the enemies can even hit you, it just says "You evaded an attack" whenever a projectile passes by you. And none of them have any physical melee attacks. I don't think this games very good...

They should totally be able to hit you. You only evade attacks when your stats are either so ridiculously high or you've bugged the game or you are dashing.

ill tolerate terrible gameplay if the scenes are good, but theres only 6 and 3 spots are taken up by the most boring enemy types in hentai history. slimes and tentacles. are those 3 "full sized" animations worth itr or should i just wait until someone uploads the gallery on pornhub?

So this game has gotten an update, and is now english translated on Eng DLSite.

+2 Enemies
+2 Equipment,
+1 Map
+1 Hentai Anim
*BUG fixes

For ~$15 even this update still doesn't make it worth it's price tag. I don't have the game though so I've no clue what the update added.

Unrelated to what people are talking about, but this game has been released for over a month. Not sure if it's an appreciated method, but here goes anyway and one of you will have to warn me if it isn't: @DarkFire1004 @super_slicer Time to move this away from the under construction subsection?

As a matter of clarification from staff: We do not consider this to be a complete game as of yet and this thread shall remain in GUC until such time as the game is complete.

Please refrain from creating additional threads for this game in H-games as they will be deleted.

This game is a weird case of what is basically "DLSite early access"; it's on sale, but far from complete, as evidenced by it still getting tiny updates but being nowhere near finished. Personally, I don't really care which part of the forum the thread is in, but super_slicer already ruled on it, so there's that. I can see the reasoning for leaving as under construction though - a lot of Patreon/Ci-en games require you to pay for the game, but what you get is a build in progress. This one just happens to be on DLsite instead of one of those.

For the game itself, I just wish there was more to it, mechanically speaking. Raising the speed stat a lot helps make it more playable, but the base gameplay is still a chore overall. It's not much more than a koooonsoft game with more RPG elements, but you have to grind the stages for materials. Individually, grinding and really simple gameplay aren't deal-breakers or anything, but together, they become really tedious.

Yes and no.
With patreon/ci-en you support creators directly and often have contact with them. You also have control how much you want to donate. DLsite is a publisher - they get their cut and the game has a price tag. So it's definitely not the same as patreon/ci-en.

Game is under development but it's also published so IMO the thread should be moved. There's plenty of other games which still are under development but they are not in this section - She ill server comes to mind first. Rules need a clarification for sure - both games are being developed, both are getting new content and are already published but they are in different forum sections with the only difference - She ill server has a low of content and Dress up Traveler doesn't. And if content is a deciding factor then how the game can be judged if it's "worthy" of being moved to h-games section? When this thread will be moved? After the dev adds 1,2 or 3 more stages? When he'll say it's finished?
It would be much simpler if:
- published games -> h-games section and any new content is treated as a dlc,
- unpublished games -> games under construction.

This is getting off topic in regards to the game itself, but it is a solid example of how this might be difficult to classify. I don't disagree, either, that the rules could be more helpful if clarified.

Forum division thoughts:
As something to chew on, I'll offer this: what if the game was released as-is and with the same plan for future updates on itch.io? Games which are primarily distributed there can have free demos, paid demos, partial releases, full releases, the works. So what line does a game need to cross to be considered 'published'? If it's the game being offered in exchange for a set price, then that arguably applies to some Ci-en and Patreon games, and this subforum was separated out specifically to address those types of games. I'll also add that it feels like the distinction is pretty inconsistent now, anyway, with some 'for sale but incomplete' games like Repure Aria 2 appearing in the main games section. Though much 'more complete', generally speaking, it's still not complete enough to finish the game, so I'd say it categorically falls in the same situation as Dress Up Traveler.

(With She-ill Server, the game was playable through to an ending, and if it had never been touched again, I don't think anyone would have considered in incomplete. That being said, I'm considering Repure Aria 2 to be a better comparison, as I believe it's not possible to reach the ending yet, though I haven't played it so I could be wrong.)

For reference, the main ruling I know of for the distinction is this:
5. Games that are incomplete/still in development are not to be posted here.

Post them in the Under Construction sub-section. If the game is completed, they may be posted here.

I don't have a particular stake in what ends up being chosen for the rationale, as I plan to check both sections (the main H games and Under construction) going forward anyway. That said, I agree that 'If the game is completed' can be sort of an uncertain condition in some cases, but so can 'If the game is published', because in both cases, the word has to be defined, and I can see room for differing interpretations in both.

All in all, no hard feelings. Could be worth making a topic under the Forum Development section.

Some hard feelings in response to calling slimes and tentacles boring, though. I feel like it's more of an issue of animation effort and quality rather than type, as I wouldn't expect vanilla pairings to be any more exciting in this context. Does raise the question of what all is going to get added in the future of this game. The enemies so far are actually ones I'd normally be a fan of, but in this game, everything so far is just kind of...meh.

The concern has been brought up with the staff. We'll talk about how we want to expand on the definition. If you wish to make a discussion thread, please feel free, but the moderators will be having their own discussion about it. Thanks for bringing it up!

Well, didn't realise my bump would cause a reclarification on a rule, haha.

In my opinion, this isn't sufficient enough to be classified a game for it's asking price, but DLSite is loaded with shitware just like this that is bare bones in content. Huge example being some of the games released by Alibi (not saying all, some are above and beyond expectation!). However, they are considered released by their developers, and having a set guideline to dictate what can be classed as full release is impossible for anyone outside of the developers to say for certain. Unless of course the game is unplayable and has massive, jarring cuts in content. By that point, however, the game is a scam.

This game has been getting quite a few content updates recently. Patchnotes list 1 new enemy and fullsize animation. Unfortunately uploaders don't appear to be keeping track of this game and keeping links up to date (which is to be expected when the game reception is meh). I'm gonna use one of the "latest" links (ver 1.31.... what ever version that is since dlsite doesn't list product version number) and see what's changed and has been added.

Looks like they added:
1. Werewolf
2. Red riding hood girl (I haven't got to the third stage. so I don't know what the H-scenes are).

Found this popped up on Steam in the New & Trending section

The steam version is basically three stages... is the dev gonna finish the game?

anyone know how's the red hood girl animation?
