Chapter 5 Home is where the Heart is (Ubberific) GMed by ranger

Re: Chapter 5 Home is where the Heart is (Ubberific) GMed by ranger

"Actually the lamp is just a focus that summons me. When I return to my lamp. I'm actually returned to the home of the geni." Bela turned around and rested her back against the railing. "So Im not alone there as for the crew well I can only come when summoned by someone. So not really my fault and summoning magic only last so long." Bella shrugged before smiling.

Re: Chapter 5 Home is where the Heart is (Ubberific) GMed by ranger

There was little else to do until the look-out announced the port in sight to do... meaning the rogue could finally learn a bit more about Bella! Perhaps more importantly about the Genies!

Rikke raised an eyebrow at the words "So you genies have a sort of realm of your own?" she'd smile sheepishly, just recalling her trip through the cursed tower. Like it or not, the rogue had a fair bit experience in regards to different realms and related magic "Whats it like in there? All cloudy and fancy temples?" she'd smirk to Bella, clearly half-joking.

"Huh... that does explain why I barely seen your around. Just thought you were avoidant." afterall seemed some of the crew still held some superstitions in regards to such magical creatures.

"Well its divided in ranks kinda like a harem. The young and weak Jin such as myself are the bottom tier and get jobs like this. The older Jin have more power and get to pick and choose who their masters are. Even higher up the later are the concubines. They live the life of luxury only having to grant wishes to mortals their Sultan commands of them. The usually end up bad for the wish maker though. Jin Sultan's are notorious tricksters." Looking up Bela didn't seem to mind her limited exposure. "Its probably best that way. If the crew keep summoning me to grant wishes it will surely catch the eye of my Sultan. That would not turn out well for them."

"I see..." Rikke listened to the wholly different and strange culture, perhaps one day she'd encounter more of the genies "Out of curiousity, can a genie share the name of their Sultan?" the girl smiled "Or is it a 'he who must not be named' sort of ordeal, lest the speaker draws their attention."

Still soon enough the bells of a spotted port rang out, drawing Rikkes attention "Oh! We're arriving! I better get my stuff." the rogue quickly gave Bella a hug and beamed her a smile "If we dont bump into one another again, it's been fun Bella." with a soon enough the girl was back near her bunk.

While over the course of her brief stay Rikke didn't collect much to call her own, she did save up a modest sum of coins and some clean fresh clothes just for her departure! When next the rogue came up to the deck she had a small backpack for her basic items, the wargs blade and a whole new look to her! It was time to see what this port was like!

Re: Chapter 5 Home is where the Heart is (Ubberific) GMed by ranger

As Rikke gathered her stuff and made her way on deck she found herself not alone. The girls from the island were about saying goodbye to the forlorn sailors. Even Shala seemed to regret their leaving but as the weeks proved the girls where not sailors. Still they had managed to lighten the hearts of the men on board. Still as she watched the port grow bigger in the distance she couldn't help but feels eyes on her. No doubt it was Shala. The two had a slight argument about her leaving but in the end Rikke had won out and the two had spoke little ever sense.

Though the port was yet an insignificant blimp, they'd be upon it in a matter of hours. Perhaps then the rogue could make out some details of what sort of place her travels lead to next!

Yet even if the girl wasn't planning to leave without saying goodbye, there was someone onboard the ship she certainly owed a proper farewell. Shala... the female had grown rather fervant in her duty to deliver Rikke back to Endus recently, yet the girl knew the real reason behind it.

Rikke looked to the waters below with a kind smile, before turning around and heading off to find Shala.

The grey furred kitsune wasn't hard to find as she was still observing the goings on. As she moved to speak to the woman the last thing Bela had told her rang threw her head. "I would prefer not you never know when the master is watching. Saying his name idle is a sure way to draw his wrath. Besides I don't have enough tithe yet to ensure he dose not react in anger." As Rikke crested the stairs she found Shala waiting for her resting on a railing over looking the sea.

Re: Chapter 5 Home is where the Heart is (Ubberific) GMed by ranger

Rikke bid Bella farewell for now, as soon enough she'd find Shala not too far away. The girl smiled as she looked to what grew to be quite a good friend, ever since she finally opened up to Red... albeit subtly even the girls iron-fist seemed to hold everyone in a far gentler manner. No doubt the finally stirred alive relationship... and the daily activities Rikke oftentimes, accidentally heard or seen perhaps finally highlighted emotions Shala had all, but forgotten.

"Hey..." Rikke spoke in a lowered voice, one not nearly as playful as her tone with either Alexa or Bella, yet still echoing a clear friendlyness about it "Guess today might be the day."

Shala didn't speak but nodded her head in agreement. She had a subtle sadness about her, no doubt related to Rikke's departure. For a moment the two stood next to each other with Shala finally speaking. "How do you do it Rikke? How can you just keep moving forward leaving those you care behind? How can you trust they will be okay?

Re: Chapter 5 Home is where the Heart is (Ubberific) GMed by ranger

Rikke snickered and with a smile joined her looking over the sea "Thats just that, I trust them with all of my heart. That they'll make it until we'll meet again." the rogue smiled to Shala "Its never a goodbye, I take a bit of everyone with me as I move forward, bidding them farewell until we meet again." the heroine kept a reassuring and confident smile, before glancing away once again "As for me, there's still so much I've yet to explore, experience and see. How could I possibly slow down when there's still such grandiose road ahead of me." as if to make her point, the beaming sunlight seemed to shift to reveal the port and perhaps land far away in the distance.

Indeed Rikke saw the glinting of Glass off the light house that guarded the harbor. Smiling at the sight both girls jumped when it exploded in a ball of fire right before their eyes! Neither one had heard cannon fire and theirs were secure. Still as the smoke drifted up in the distance Shala was shouting t the men to gather the rifles and swords. For a moment Rikke stood transfixed, unlike Shala she had felt a surge of magic just before the explosion. Something up ahead was indeed quite powerful.

An attack? Rikkes eyes widened as the Lighthouse imploded right before the duo girls gaze! Its heavy top crashing down slowly in massive ball of smoke and flame along its tower to the rocks below! Well that was one way to welcome a new ship! "Yikes... you didn't tell me this port was in upheaval." the rogue snickered as she looked to Shala, running alongside her as she prepared the crew for what seemed potential combat? Just what was going on on-shore... For now the rogue wasn't too worried, but still kept her blade nearby.

Still as swords and rifles where gathered the crew of the Glory had to wait till they got closer to port to see if the city was in distress. Slowly the ship crested threw the waves the sailors nervous. Some watched the still burning lighthouse as it passed to starboard while Rike kept her eyes on the port. It was then she saw two figures seeming flying threw the air the flash of steel and the sparks of magic evident in the air. Though oddly enough none of the others around her seemed to notice.

Re: Chapter 5 Home is where the Heart is (Ubberific) GMed by ranger

Rikke narrowed her eyes and suddenly quickly rushed to a nearby sailor with a spy-glass perhaps even the look-out having slid down "Give me for a moment..." she'd take it and quickly try to peer at the figures flying away? Were they the cause of the explosion?

If no spyglass was present, the rogue would rush to the very front of the ship and lean forward to try and look to the figures. She had to see where they were going... it was unlikely she'd make out any other details.

Re: Chapter 5 Home is where the Heart is (Ubberific) GMed by ranger

Sadly no glass was present likely up in the nest with Alexa. However Rikke's eyes where sharp enough that she made out some details. One looked to be a fit young man using a crazy curved looking blade similar to Emi's. It was long and glowed with a sinister aura. He seemed pale of skin with dark black hair and his cloths light with no armor to speak off. The other was female with purple hair she wore robes similar ot a priestess of some sort. Her details where harder to manage as the violent sparks of magic emanated from her hiding her features from clear view. Still as they battled Rikke lost sight of them as they descended to the city. None of the other crew seemed to notice them until another explosion in the street where they had vanished drew their gaze.

They were flying... yet Rikke couldn't see their wings? The girl blinked in disbelief only for moments later for the pair to dash back into the city! This was bad... Rikke had never seen such magic before. Just what sort of monstrous magic did they possess?! Still Shala had to know!

Rushing down the deck, soon enough the rogue would return to her friend and report what she had seen "There's two of them, mages I think." she'd speak up, as surprisingly seemed only the rogues experienced sight caught view of the unknown entities "I think the people are going to need help." it was an unfortunate bid of news, but a simple port could hardly hold back an attack from such creatures!

There was little Rikke to do but wait as the ship drew closer. Thankfully the explosions seemed to end. Still as they drew to port they saw a few panicked people attempting to board a few ships. Upon seeing this Red Dog stopped before reaching the docks and weighed anchor. "If any want a shore better take a boat Im waiting for things to calm before we head for that madness.

Re: Chapter 5 Home is where the Heart is (Ubberific) GMed by ranger

It would be but moments later after Shala announced this that a pair of boots echoed on one of the boats that would be lowered, as Rikke stood there with a smile "I can go alone, as a scout. I'll send an all-clear once the enemy left." The girl certainly did not plan to stay and wait for the attack to conclude, not only would these creatures remain an enigma... but potentially even more innocents would be harmed from their idleness!

...Not to mention the rogue was always too darn curious for her own good! Still there was a crysis afoot and Rikke had never been one to let it just slide past her!

Red just smirked while Shala's eyebrow twitched but said nothing. Soon enough she was lowered down with only Soda along to help her row. As they crossed the dark waters he spoke that once she was dropped off he would leave and return at sunset to pick her up for her report and that is was best if she did not tick off Shala.

Still as Rikke approached the dock she could see soldiers pushing people back trying to calm the crowds with little effect. Though the city besides the crowds around them seemed calm now. The fight or what ever it was was over. Once she was up and away from the boat Soda gave her a wave before turning back his oars parting the water in a hurried pace. Before her Rikke saw several guardsmen holding the crowd back while a Sargent or some such watched on. The city itself had a trade vibe to it with colorful buldings in the distance in stark contrast the more subdued dockside warehouses. Several streets lead into the city. One ran into a rundown looking area no doubt full of seedy taverns for sailors. Another seemed to be for transporting goods as its road was wide and covered in the tell tale signs of work animals. The third and fourth seemed similar but went in opposite directions into the city.

Re: Chapter 5 Home is where the Heart is (Ubberific) GMed by ranger

Rikke signal and cute 'I'll be fine from here on.' to Soda, before she turned to the quite colorful city of panicked citizens. Thankfully... or unfortunately a certain calm washed over the attack site, most of the ruckus now seemingly focused around the citizens seeking safety nearby.

Still if Rikke was going to learn where the eye of the activity was - it was best to ask one of the citizens (if they were even able to speak in their haste to rush away) or the guards about which direction the people were coming from... or well where the attacks seemed to have focused down.
