Re: Blitz Angel Spica (Mahou Shoujo Beatemup/Fighting)
Oh, regarding this, I was talking about japanese games in general. Like how their JRPGs tend to be grindy (like Idea Factory's Neptune series), or something like Musou series (Dynasty Warriors etc) which basically is just button mashing killing thousands of grunts repeatedly. Basically i agree with Asaness that when it comes to gameplay the Japanese didn't bother to try very hard ^^.
Despite it's flaw japanese games also has really unique features like costume break, super sexy outfit (this exist in western games too but kinda rare these days), touching mini game, rape games, etc
I hear you, and I believe we are talking about two sides of the same coin. Japanese games are thee ones that pioneered the concept of trying to get the player emotionally invested in their game - whether it be through the use of a complex storyline, the requirement of the time investment via grinding, or just plain simple cuteness or moe. Hentai games are to me are simply an extension of that industry, filled by those that are, shall we say,
open-minded enough to accept that emotional investment would also include activities in the carnal realm~
The Japanese really know how to use their time best!
HAHA! You're probably right! And while I wasn't entirely serious in making that comment, in retrospect, I think the rationale behind the double standard deserves further examination. On one hand, there is of course the issue of the double standards that exist between Japanese and non-Japanese games. That being said,

sold a comparable 4,800+ for being released at a similar time. And bear in mind Eroico isn't even Kyrieru's signature work! I am of course assuming in this that Kyrieru isn't Japanese - he might well be, but if he is he certainly hasn't made it public.
Its probably also worth pointing out that I don't think you're entirely opposed to the idea of the Princess Edge protagonist being used as fapbait. Some would be - they'd draw something like that and then honestly claim that her having that kind of effect on people is something that they'd rather
not have. You're probably not that kind of person - and the Steam people should probably realised that with a name like
Erobotan! But that being said, if you honestly feel that you drew her like that because you feel that made her look more cute/sexy/etc,
why not just say so?? Why go through the trouble of trying to justify the clothes with some convoluted logic that it's because she's a barbarian or some such?
If there is one thing anime fans have a pet hate of, it's seeing fanservice in a place where it's not called for. Things like pantyshots in a serious psychological drama. Bouncing boobs in a shounen anime where sex appeal is not on the mind of any of the characters onscreen. Forced tropes that stick out like a sore thumb when the plot would have advanced so much better without them because, some bright spark decided somewhere that EVERY blasted series needs to happen in SCHOOL and have some cardboard cutout of MOE.
Obviously, none of these tropes are bad in themselves. But I think they have their own place sometimes. And I wish developers and storyboard writers were a bit more honest with their original intention. If you want to draw a good story, please do a good story, and don't include fapbait just because you think it'll help it sell. If you want to do fapbait, then just do that, and don't be embarrassed about
saying that! If you feel a good story will help the fapbait become more fappable, then please let it rip - but if you feel compelled to MAKE a story when the game is complete WITHOUT one, I don't think people will thank you for it.
And that's my rant over

. Oh and for the record, if you do end up including an ecchi mod for Princess Edge, I would like to be the first to know
