What makes this even more amusing is that the "I smell pretentiousness" line actually fits into something that happened to me IRL.
((Long story short...too late! We had a co-worker that was *really* pretentious (the artsnob type) and of course, behind his back, my friend and I always would remark about it. Well, one day, I'm in the back room with him sorting CDs and my friend calls, so I'm talking to her and I mention he's back there and she goes "Is that pretentiousness I smell?" and before I can answer her, he goes "Yes!" (You kinda have to hear the way he says it. It's impossible to duplicate in text.) At which point, I bust out laughing and she goes "OMG, did he hear me?" "No, I think he was just responding to my saying his name." Still the timing of it was priceless.)) And now, I need to share this with her because of that line *yoinks and away*
