Re: Games Discussion Thread

^Angry Joe's review of Red Dead Redemption.
I can't find confirmation that the game actually cost $70-$100 million to make, but if that's true, then ho-leeee shit. , then the average budget is about $23 million.

Because of this, if someone even hints at getting it in any manner other than legally, I am going to beat them with a sack of petrified oranges.

However, people will still get it illegally, and they will be the same people to bitch about how shitty today's video games are getting, or bitching about why companies are getting so heavy with anti-piracy software.

Re: Games Discussion Thread

Yeah, I know I said it before, but having just come off another fresh attempt at playing Exteel, I am not that pleased with how they're changing PvE (Last Stand). Doing a mission at even level 1 is now equivalent to what used to be considered a level 3. Sure, it needed to be a bit more difficult, but jebus, I don't think I played a single match today where NO aerogates were destroyed. I especially hate the 'bomber' enemies. They just run up to the gate and suicide-bomb the thing. They're not really that tough to beat, since concentrated fire (as long as you don't hit either shield) will bring them down at a decent speed, but they're annoying as fuck.

And then there's the Canyon stage. I don't know why they decided to change it, but I was confused as all hell when I went into a match on that map. They changed the locations of EVERYTHING.

I like the idea that they're going for, but the serious jump in difficulty is not good. Like I said, I'm all for making level 1 tougher, and even level 2, but the jump in difficulty they did was just unnecessary. I'm lucky if I can kill 3 basic bots in one 'clip' of my Rocket Launcher now, as opposed to being able to kill 8-10, maybe 12 in one 'clip' before.

This also considers the fact that pretty much any armor that was the 'cheap but good' gear now is almost useless in such situations, and ya need loadouts for old LS5 to even attempt LS2 O,o And I was rocking old LS with Boomrocker at 5s at a regular basis

Actually, Daikatana's budget was over $40 million. And no, I'm not joking.

Man Exteel... I haven't played that game in ages, and even when I did, I still had some of the best weapons and other gear of the game. Double S-Bluetempests were the thing back then!

So did they seriously change the Last Stand that much? I remember mostly that the level 5 diffuculty on the city beeing the thing, if they've buffed up the diffuculty like that, I wonder if thats even possible to do anymore.

Re: Games Discussion Thread

They beefed up the difficulty a bit, and they also did some visual changes as well, like there being a structure on the aerogate now over top the circle. And instead of occupying it, the bots try to destroy the structure. I believe the main aerogate is the only one with guards at it to defend it, so the bots shoot them before the aerogate.

I never really used anything besides a Shield/Spear and Rocket, so I forget what Blue Tempests are. I'd guess SMGs? I'll probably take a look in a second and come back to edit this.

EDIT: NVM, they're rifles.

The super expensive rifles.

Back then the only way to play the Diffuculty 5 was either rockets or double rifles of the higher class.

Re: Games Discussion Thread

My only real problem right now is they kind of killed the Metal Helix-type Spears. The only thing that looks like it might be similar is the Wing Spread-S, but I don't have anywhere near enough money to get it.
That, and all the weapons I'd want currently, were made during the period of time when they were making 'donater-only' weapons. So I can't get them. So the Metal Helix-A/B and Blitz Rocket Launcher-A will never be mine.
Actually, I kind of find it funny that there's no 'B' grade RL, just cannons >.>

Meh, the RL I can deal with, since there's a better looking one of 'S' grade. I want my MH-A, though, dammit =.=
I NEED MAH DRILL. FOR MY DRILL IS ONE THAT SHALL PIERCE THE HEA-*urk* (Gets yanked offstage by cane)

Re: Games Discussion Thread

It's about damn time, folks have been waiting for this how long? And they were promised it like a few years back? We'll see what happens I suppose.

Re: Games Discussion Thread

July 27th motherfuckers.

Re: Games Discussion Thread

Um, yeah, where are you all learning this? Because I haven't seen anything about this anywhere I've looked, apart from Valve promising a vague something at E3.

Re: Games Discussion Thread

Here's a hint: I've never been able to get into the Half-Life series.

Re: Games Discussion Thread

Players of Mass Effect 2 know the little news reports that you can see in the main menu. I've worked myself through their and stumbled over this gem:

“Late-night comedians are weighing in on Ford v. Huerta, the court case that has enough cyborgs, presidents, and controversy to be a Hollywood blockbuster in its own right. Cal DiCosimo said "We're supposed to care that the President was brain dead after his stroke? What I don't get is that a room full of doctors said he had brain activity before it". Natasha Lyons targeted the Speaker of the House, saying, "Her entire argument is that for the last year, she's wanted to be Vice President. I'm sorry, honey, you don't get out of working that easily". And Manny Zupo gave his analysis: "For the last year, we've had a zombie cyborg president. Why does the speaker want this to end? Every twelve-year-old can now go to class and say 'my president's just as cool as the asari".”

Re: Games Discussion Thread

The demo for Transformers: War for Cybertron is out. It's only the multi-player demo, but I like it, and you all might be interested. It's got classes, like TF2. It's got levels and bonuses like MW2. It's got giant fucking robots that turn in to tanks and shit and slaughter each other for your amusement. I quite like it.

Re: Games Discussion Thread

Oblivion for eight bucks. Too bad I torrented mine already.

You certainly make a good case.

Re: Games Discussion Thread

I'll just leave this here.

Re: Games Discussion Thread

Heh, just had a housemate show me that.

"We have so much in common, you and I. You played with me, I played with you. You killed me, I kill... Oh, it seems I haven't done that yet. Oh well, something to keep in mind for the next test."
