Only sometimes I hate my own stupidity. Like when I order a book from Amazon at a fairly cheap price. And don't realize that it's gonna be shipped from the US and will require me to wait 2-5 weeks to arrive.

Both legit gripes.
For me, it's campus security. They can wind up stranded in a ditch.
So, I go to meet a friend on campus and I *know* I'm going to need a visitor permit, so I pull up and the office of police and safety has a big old sign on the window that says "CLOSED." Okay, fine. So I pull up to the CAMPUS VISITOR PARKING LOT. Please let me reiterate that it is the VISITOR LOT. Where non-students are supposed to park. I get out, meet my friend, and we go for, roughly, an hour walk/bench laze through the trails on the campus because it's just a freaking gorgeous night out. We part at her car, since she's in the student lot, and I hike back up to the VISITOR LOT and spot a ticket on my car for being an "unregistered vehicle" parked in the lot.
Let's review the facts here:
1. It is 7:30 at night
2. Police and Safety was CLOSED.
3. VISITOR PARKING!
And I get a freaking "unregistered vehicle" ticket. Oh, the words that were coming out of my mouth.
Thankfully, they didn't have to fully incur my wrath on the fact that there's this little note that says "Visitors, if you've been given a ticket for unregistered vehicle, please print name, addy, etc, etc, and School ID/Person/Place you were visiting and return either by mail or in person to the office of police and safety (which, btw, STILL CLOSED.)" I know it means I don't have to pay the ticket, but seriously, wtf? It's the f'ing visitor's parking lot and they're ticketing people! I mean, I can understand pegging students who shouldn't be allowed to park there, but wouldn't you think that you're going to have unregistered vehicles in your visitor parking lot?! Jesus H. Tap-dancing Christ on a pogo stick!
Okay, done now. Going to bed.

They don't ticket anyone anywhere after 4:30PM but having parked and gotten tickets for being a visitor, going to them and being all "Hey, i was a visitor" and them taking it away from whatever account they have set up with me, I still get emails saying that I should pay the fine because they'll hold my grades and I can't register if they don't.

I particularly enjoyed his little quip about "Battleship," and horses and bayonets. I suppose his point was about how we don't need to have as many ships as we used to, due to their modern capabilities.
He just... it angers me. It angers me because as a nation, we feel compelled to help the world solve their problems. Before each world war, we followed an isolationist policy, allowing us to keep a relatively small naval force.
Our Commander-in-Chief has not withdrawn our forces from any of our current interests overseas -- we continue to fight the same battles. He has simply allowed the military to be eroded, to the point where the fighting man has to struggle to stay employed, and stand long watches for little pay. He has allowed our retirement and education benefits to be threatened. He even claimed credit for the demise of Bin Laden, credit that belongs to the military he so eagerly reduces.
I am not overly interested in politics, at least not much further than it affects me, my friends and my co-workers. I suppose I also have some political beliefs based upon what I hold to be right and what I deem necessary for the common good. I have never had the patience or interest needed to watch over ten minutes of any political transmission.
I don't think Romney presents a solution either. I love my country and the principles upon which it was founded. I enjoy our history and heritage, marred as it is. I worry about our future, and I'm fucking frustrated with our (lack of) leadership, and frankly I'm a little scared at this point.
Oh well. Doesn't mean it's not worth fighting for.
