I'm the one who starts translating JSK games.
As I don't use English, I have trouble in reading this thread.
Would anyone please explain briefly how to translate this?

I personally use JPEX FFdec to translate / alter in-game data, T-pals rely on more advanced ways, sore wa watashi ni totte roketto saiensu, but the software I use doesn't really have other language settings on it aside from the few given upon install, you might have to pick up some english just for that software's sake, unless your native language is supported.

And also, would help if we knew what type of language you do prefer to use, I can put up a quick guide through with google translate for you that way to JPEX FFdec, and T-pals for the far more superior method of theirs.

And I do believe your english will improve as you keep in touch with us in this thread, I learned it (English) from games and historical war TV documents myself.

I would also suggest looking over the Translating Tools 101 section of the JSK Community Guide. Follow the link in my signature.

My partials are always censored, the T-pals do that pixelation removal and make it a separate version, so there is one (hopefully) for both types, as not everyone might enjoy the other version.
The reason latest and final version hasn't been uncensored is because T-pals are busy in IRL and I do not know how to do it on my end, me tampering with certain bits of code makes the game kaputt.

I can only make translations and do some minor changes to the picture assets and fonts with my level of coding knowledge.

Indeed, I don't know how you do it when translating, but I have more than once found that your partial just had sections of it explode on contact. It must be a skill there to keep us on our toes :)

Has the translation for the "Will the Demon King Survive the Elven Knight?" game been updated recently? I tried decompiling the flash file myself to finish a partial translation I found (and also improve the dialogue that was there, which had some grammatical errors) but I couldn't wrap my puny little brain around it. Also, any JSK or JSK-like games you guys would recommend for someone who's played Elven Knight, Demonness, and A Fighter Mistook Me For Her Rival? Or have I already seen the best JSK has to offer?

Happy to see another person interested in translating JSK games. Where have you looked so far to find your Elven knight game updates? Also, what tools have you tried using for translating?

I found a MEGA link on PornHub that had a bunch of games and partial translations of them, including some by Icevail. (I think it said Elven Knight's last update was from April 3rd of this year.) I tried using JPEXS Free Flash Decompiler v11.3.0 and exporting all the text and ActionScript, but there's so damn much, it's really overwhelming...I honestly have no idea how to sift through the 707 total files generated from that to find stuff that would be relevant for dialogue translation.

Mind you, I barely know a lick of Japanese. Because of this, my goal would basically be to use a combination of pre-existing translations and machine translations, and then rewrite those when necessary into cohesive and hopefully hot dialogue.

The fun part is going through those files to see if there is any leftover dialogue lines from other JSK projects, I've few times ended up translating loads of the code that isn't even present in the gameplay, only to realize it way, way too late.

Icevail is a bit of a masochist in how he translates JSK's games. Directly editing ActionScript files is both difficult and potentially dangerous. We have developed (by we I mean Tengux) a few tools to help extract the dialogue out of the SWF files and into a single CSV file. This CSV file can be edited with any cell based editor. Microsoft Excell and Google Sheets are some examples. Google sheets are preffered since they can be shared online and easily collaborated on. For actual translating I'd suggest giving DeepL a shot. It's an AI based machine translator that has given some impressive results. But before any of that, I'd highly recommend going over the . It has a section dedicated to translation tools. It would also serve you well to check out the downloads section of the guide.

If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask.

EDIT 1) I'm curious about that PornHub link you mentioned. Just how complete was the collection?

I swear I'll get back to updating the tools so I can eventually motivate Icevail to beat himself up a bit less.
I'm finally back from my research stay abroad and back home, certainly was an interesting stay with everything going on.

I'll save you from yourself Icevail!... Eventually... I hope...

It's great to hear that you're back safe and sound Tengux. No need to jump right back into working on your parser. I think you earned a bit of R&R after that work trip.

Thanks a lot, I'll check Tengux's GUI text parser out. I'm pretty sure that PornHub link was really just the huge Mega link that's linked to in your guide. With any luck, I'll be able to get a couple translations done in my free time. And if not, well, at least you know one more person was interested.

Edit: Welp, I just tried it with both Demoness and Elven Knight and each time I got an error saying (I might be slightly misremembering) "Something bad has happened!" along with the directory I put the games in. It decompiled a bunch of .as scripts but no .cvs file was generated. I got a warning before starting the whole process saying my specs are probably too low to run JPEXS, but that can't be right. I don't have the beefiest gaming PC around, but it's far from a toaster. When I tried JPEXS on my own earlier, it was usable. Scrolling through shape files slowed down my PC a fair bit but that's about it really, and moving away from that section was enough to fix the issue. After both of these failures, I tried running it again on Elven Knight and it seems to have gotten plum stuck at "Parsing: sub\end_3.swf\scripts\end_3_fla\メイン_エンド1_194.as". The only issue I can think of is that the filepath is too long maybe? I've hidden my hentai flashes behind a fair few folders on my computer in case someone else I live with needs to use it for whatever reason.

Edit 2: Oh, nevermind, a window eventually popped up (hidden behind other ones I think...really adore how Windows likes to keep some windows hidden away for some reason) giving me a memory error and saying I'm running 32-bit Java on a 64-bit system, and should run 64-bit Java instead. Pretty sure I am running it in 64-bit...I guess I could check my JRE installation.

Yeah, that low specs message is a dead give away that you have to uninstall 32 bit Java and then install 64 bit Java.

I think I might be able to help with translation this time around, at least for the scenes.
I'll need the help of machine translation again though, as I haven't been able to learn any japanese in the time being.
I hope this time I won't have to translate the game twice, because now I know about Tengux's Parser.
