It'll be hard to sneak up on this one, so you'll probably have to take a more direct approach this time, or else get creative." Soon they were outside, meeting up with Rosa in crow form, who quickly flew up into the air, and a number of slimes. "Come back in one piece" the demon ordered as she turned to walk back into the castle.

Mei-Lien would follow Rosa for some time as the sun rose behind them, this time away from the forest on line with the path she and Hannah had been on when they had gotten to the castle, before turning slightly to the north after a while. It was hilly country, mostly plains and shortgrass. It was an uneventful walk, done at a brisk pace, the slimes sometimes struggling to keep up with the crow and the demon. Finally, just after noon judging by the position of the sun in the sky, Rosa began to circle around a hill, and then landed on it. Mei-Lien would find that as she got near the crest of the hill, she could see the barracks on the next hill over. Only two soldiers were visible, both standing on guard, and the area around the hill was quite barren and plain.

Without such a thing, she would close in from the side or rear of the outpost.

Oddly enough, Mei-Lien would find that no one was guarding the rear of the building, though there was no back door. She and the slimes were able to sneak around and walk up to the back wall of the barracks, and would likely be able to take at least the guards by surprise unless they made too much noise.

It looked like the circling had paid off, and now they had a mostly unharassed path towards the hilltop outpost. With her slime troops in tow, Mei started climbing up the hill, paying careful attention to her surroundings to avoid any misshaps that might give them away before they had a chance to surprise the sentries. If the opportunity was given, she would quickly snap a guard's neck and drag his body into a spot where it was not too obviously present and visible.

His partner began to react, but before he could say anything the slime had engulfed his head. He tried to scream out, but was muffled too much by the slime, which quickly moved to shove a thick tendril of its body down his throat, slowly choking him to death while he flailed ineffectively. After a few moments the slime began to drag his body back behind the barracks just as he stopped moving, and Mei-Lien did the same with her kill. Now she had a short break to decide what to do, having already taken out two of her enemy.

Much like during the previous operation, Mei's initial stealth approach was highly succesful, enabling her to take out one of the guards with ease. As she snapped the soldier's neck, his partner tried to get into alert mode, but was soon stopped by the equally sneaky slimes. Both of the dead people were soon deposited behind the building where they would not be as easily seen. "Good job." the demoness applauded her unit in a low voice before moving back to the sneak mode. She would look inside the outpost via a window to get an idea of how things were inside, moving in if the coast was clear enough.

The slime seemed to flutter about a little as Mei-Lien complimented it, likely showing its appreciation. When she snuck to the nearest window, she peered into the bars to find only eight soldiers inside, all huddled around a table. It looked like they were gambling on cards, in fact. Since not all of them were there, and they had killed the guards, the group now outnumbered the soldiers by one.

"Hmmm... that looks good, but not sure how I could get the drop on them..." the demoness thought as she spied the gathered soldiers at their little gambling ring. Getting a surprise attack would help tip the odds even further into her group's direction. Moving around the outside of the building, she inspected the surroundings for an alternate route inside, such as an attic or basement door. If those were not a possibility, then an empty room was a runner-up, followed by the most blatant front door entry as the last resort.

Mei-Lien would find that the barracks wasn't so poorly thought out that there were more secretive entrances, at least not that she could see. She would have to do this the obvious way. She and the slimes quickly burst through the front door, eliciting a cry of surprise from the soldiers, who began to scramble away from the table they had been hunched over and towards their weapons. The space would likely be cramped with all 17 combatants inside the room, though if Mei-Lien hurried she would probably be able to catch some of them unarmed.
