We just got rid of our satellite dish and receiver, and replaced it with an antenna for local signals only. Not only are we gonna save money by not paying for channels we never watch (there's so many of those in the basic package...) but the picture quality is also higher.

I suspect local TV has been broadcasting in HD for a long time now, and it's the satellite and cable providers that have been holding it from their customers due to 'cost' and shit.

I actually have some comerical grade rocket motors around here somewhere, as well as an electronic detonator, but I can't remember where I put them

I believe that would be an electronic ignition device, and not a detonation device. I have 3 rockets similar to what you describe myself actually, and I built two of them... From kits... With instructions so simple my four year old brother understood them...
