When Aigis: Millennium War launched on Nutaku last February, we were thrilled to be bringing one of the most strategic and exciting hentai games in the world to our site. The game’s popularity in Japan is unquestionable; so much so, in fact, that the Japanese version has sometimes overshadowed its English counterpart when it comes to development priority. Unfortunately, this has resulted in a decline in event delivery in the past few weeks, and left a number of our players worried about the game’s future.
We’re happy to put those concerns to rest. The English version of Aigis is not going anywhere: in fact, we are beginning a major overhaul that will conclude with Nutaku taking direct control of game updates and assuming responsibility for rolling out new features.
To explain what that means, let’s first discuss how Nutaku is structured.
As a publisher and games portal, we don’t create the games that we host - instead, the Nutaku team takes popular titles from around the world and make them available on our site. Some games, such as Aigis and Dragon Providence, are maintained by the original Japanese development team who handle events, translation, and the introduction of new game features. In these cases, Nutaku passes along feedback from English-speaking players but leaves everything else in the hands of the artists and programmers who created it.
In cases where the original developers are focused on their own projects or feel that Nutaku is better suited to providing support, a team of our game update managers takes over the running of day-to-day affairs. In many cases, that means faithfully following the original update schedule outlined by the JP devs, with some tweaks to accommodate seasonal events or site-specific bugs. Flower Knight Girl and Osawari are examples of this system: the events happen 100% as they were originally presented in Japan, but Nutaku maintains their systems to deliver the best experience for English-speaking players.
With this announcement, Aigis will begin moving firmly into the second category of games. We will be switching from a role of providing feedback from players to taking that feedback and implementing it directly. Our game update managers are long-time Aigis fans who have a considerable list of features they’d like to see in the game.
Here are some of their proposals so far:
- Implementing revival events to allow new players to catch up to veterans.
- Increasing the frequency of updates to the trading post.
- Introducing characters who were left out of the game’s original debut (here’s looking at you, Mischa)
- Increasing the pace of event delivery to match the Japanese version.
To be clear: this is not a process that will happen overnight. Aigis is a complex game, and our developers estimate that it will take up to several months before they are ready to take over the project. We know that's not ideal but we appreciate your patience as we familiarize ourselves with the ins and outs of one of the most complex games on our site.
Our objective with English Aigis is to make the game in every way equal to the Japanese original and, with new tools in hand, we’ll be setting about that task with the same dedication we’ve put into our other titles.
In the meantime, events will continue, though at a regretfully reduced pace. The event “Daughter of the King of the Dead” will arrive on July 12th and run for two weeks. The Valkyrie’s contract will begin on August 16th.
