Re: Rise of the Accursed OOC thread(interest check)

So for the magic I could list... say a supportive ring and an offensive wand? Is that how that would work?

Still a little confused.
Nono, simply list Magic and the style, rather than a specific object. So Magic (Offensive) or Magic (Support). It the moment, the only magic weapon avaliable is the basic Magic Wand, but later there will be others.

Re: Rise of the Accursed OOC thread(interest check)

I was thinking of playing a Harpy with like one of those ridicuhuge crossbows from Monster Hunter, but seeing as most everyone's made someone missing one pair of limbs or another, maybe I'll go a for something more normal.

So, the Undine - googirl, or just see-through?

Just see through, she's quite solid.

Re: Rise of the Accursed OOC thread(interest check)

On character creation:

OAMP, in your weapon proficiencies you're missing a level 2 weapon and three level 1 weapons.

Sin, in the same, you're missing a level 1 weapon.

To anyone who listed Magic Wand (Offensive) or (Support) as a proficiency, apologies for the confusion, but the name of the style is actually just Magic (O) or (S); there are other magic impliments such as tomes, staves etc.

Also, can I request there be no more nwe Lamia, at least for a bit? We've, uh, kinda got a lot of them.
Oh, whoopsies. Was in a real rush this morning, I just fixed my hp as well x.x

Also, could we get some parenthesis in the formulas. Ranger and I are having a fierce debate about it that's shaken both our confidences.

Re: Character Creation Thread

Name: Sylvia Persikka
Race: Dryad
Element: Earth
Gender: Female
Description:
While tall in stature next to some other races of Vira, Sylvia Persikka is of but average height among dryads. Her body is slender but strong due to her work tending the ancient forest trees. Her curves wave voluptuously as if her body itself resembled a finely gnarled tree trunk. Lady Persikka's skin is a shade of deep caramel, her irises are emerald jewels in a milky white sea. The lines of her eyelids, painstakingly tattooed green as if encasing the seas of her eye with a slit leaf. When she sleeps, it's as if rhododendron leaves rest daintily over her eyes. Her eyebrows, slender but fluffy are a shade of evergreen, the dark green hair constrasting slightly with the grassy shade of her irises. But out of all this, the most striking feature of Sylvia Persikka's body are the leaves taking the place of where most would find hair. Sylvia's hair-like foliage takes the form of the ancient trees her family is known for protecting, the weeping willow. Just like a willow tree, Sylvia's foliage flows down her back and shoulders, encasing the cheeks on either side of her face and stretching all the way to her hips. When nourished with the proper sunlight, Sylvia's willow locks are a deep forest green and her caramel skin shines radiantly. However as Sylvia loses contact with the Sun, her hair slowly becomes lighter shades of yellow and orange. While still beautiful, the changing shades indicate that her health and happiness may be slowly eroding. No one quite knows how the dryads maintain nourishment for their flowing foliage locks, but her hair will not die unless exposed to the most vile and foul treatment imaginable.

Sylvia's clothes are light , due to her want to absorb sunlight through her caramel skin. She wears a simple brown bra and tight brown shorts. A few green vines of ivy and other leaves hang from a utility belt made from laced vines around her waist. She wears no shoes or gloves, but she does wear two sparkling green ankle bracelets on each leg.

Level 1 - Dagger, Crossbow, Spear, Magic: Offensive

Special Powers: Nada

Gear: Staff (equipped), Support Wand (Equipped), Dagger, Clothes, A sack containing some of her precious peaches, assorted fruits, and a compass.

Background:
As a member of the ancient Persikka clan, Sylvia tended and watched over the great willow and peach trees along the glades deep in the forest. If she had followed all of the ancient traditions she likely would have become a dryad elder one day. However, that path was not her destiny - at least not yet and likely not ever. It all started one day when she befriended a mischievous little faerie whose name has become so infamous within the Persikka clan, it shall not be mentioned here.

Though Sylvia's demeanor is often subdued and thoughtful, she is very friendly in her own way, often asking many questions to learn about people outside the forest. It was because of Sylvia's friendly demeanor, her passionate thirst for knowledge, and her fiercely devoted little heart that Sylvia followed the infamous little faerie on many a great journey. It was on one of these fateful journies that everything went horribly wrong. The details are too grim to recount. Suffice it to say that there was a great skirmish. Lady Sylvia defended her little faerie companion to the bitter end, but the little faerie disappeared and Sylvia Persikka was outcast from the great willow glades. This is where the real story begins. Sylvia Persikka wanders the forest, alone and friendless but still tending to the plant-life in her own way, for even a lonely dryad must care for the trees even if they're no longer the great willows. Her mind longs for adventure, and her heart yearns for companionship. And somewhere, deep in that devoted little heart, Sylvia still loves that little faerie, as infamous as she may be.

The Ill-Portented Expedition (crossgrave, blueslime, chibi)

The big day had finally arrived. Dawn blossomed over the Aelwall mountains, its light shining down upon the city of Vertkeep Point, a thriving trade and learning centre and one of the most important cities in the Lamian Principality. It was here that young hopefuls flocked, to study and learn, to find a mentor who would take them in and begin their steps down the road of life. Steps in the metaphorical sense, at least, for many such hopefully. It was a fast growing city building upon itself outwards from the cliff-side, where the ruling castle was set and a new stone outer-wall was under construction, the city having sprawled out of its previous walls to the point where it warranted attention. Construction in this day and age was aided by the newly invented steam lifts, combining an ingenious pulley and leverage system with steam powered motors to allow greater loads than would be possible through manpower or beasts of burden. Indeed, it was a showcase of what a modern marvel the city was that such wonders were beholden in plain sight and rich smoke billowed from the roofs of many a workshop as the city's industrial age blossomed .

This particular day was especially important for a number of young Lamia, as their first big opportunity in life began this very morning. With rumours of darkness returning to Vira, the Colleges of Vertkeep Point agreed to fund an expedition to one Professor Jontus Htamedisil, an now ageing archaeologist and researcher whom, rather than many Lamians, looked to the past for answers rather than the future. A prestigious name, he is regarded as one of the top of his field and sought a small team of young and eager Lamians to assist him in journeying to a site he believes contain an ancient ruins connected to a darker age, where many Lamians gave up their sovereignty to serve the Shadow. This site, if is located, he believes may answer some mysteries about why the Lamia swayed to darkness, as well as perhaps some methods to prove or disprove the current rumours about a new dark age on the horizon.

Azalia and Soren were amongst the young scholars to be selected, their studies and proficiency in magic deemed important to Jontus, much to the chagrin of many of their more progressively minded peers. They are joined by fellow student Goron, a large and broad Lamia who possesses a keen interest in following in Jontus' footsteps as an archaeologist, more than making up for his lack of proficiency in the magical arts. From what they've seen of the male in previous meetings, he seems to have a gentle soul despite his large size and doesn't seem entirely to agree with the 'genius' of modern technology.

The Colleges also insisted in assigning an escort to this expedition, much to Jontus' protests. As their journey would take them east through the mountains, an often perilous journey even at this time of year, they hired a journeyman solder by the name of Nath to keep them protected. Nath, now entering his middle-aged years himself, seems to be a sturdy and practical man, sensible and stubborn and him and Jontus have already had numerous arguments throughout the planning phase of the expedition. Nath finds the Professor to be a foolish and reckless man in pursuit of knowledge at any cost, while the Jontus finds Nath to be stubborn, thick-headed and overprotective in the face of minuscule dangers. It was on Nath's insistence that a second escort was added to the mission, a young Satuma, fresh and eager to serve as a solder.

Now, the six of them are to meet up by the main gate of the city in the early morning, ready to set out on their quest to find these ancient ruins over the mountains. Already Nath stands firm and ready, his trusty warrior's staff in one hand, the other comforting the giant monitor lizard often used as beasts of burden in these parts; indeed this one would serve as their pack mule, carrying their all important supplies. Nearby, Jontus slithered back and forth over the stone cobbled road, pacing restlessly despite it still being almost an hour until their designated meeting time. The pair passed time almost silently as they prepared to set out on their journey.

Escape from Dracholt (Sinfulwolf)

Things were not good in Dracholt. Not good at all. Prophets screaming about the end, zealots declaring a return to darkness and the old ways, things were all going south in quite a hurry. Frustratingly for Meaghan, she had not made it out of the city like she had intended, finding herself turned away at the gates by guards who declared, "By order of Viscount Acatar, all traffic in and out of the city is closed." Given some of the rumours she'd heard about 'spiritual cleansing' and a 'return to the glorious old days', she had her suspicions about the motives of such an order, but could get no further information out of the guards.

Things were definitely not good. It was apparent to her that many of her kind believed that should the Accursed return and should they succeed in defeating the gods themselves, a new, glorious age of darkness and passion would await them. While only zealots and madness openly declared their allegiance to their former dark lords in the streets, it was becoming more and more apparent where the majority sentiment lay and it would only be a matter of time. After all, were they not treated as monsters by most of Vira, scorned, hated, feared? Why not take the chance to build a better world, a world more kind to them, where they could indulge freely where ever they liked without prejudice and other races laws to get in the way. Utter madness. The only thing that would come of it was oblivion.

Now, she sat stewing in a tavern near the gates, trying to figure out how to get out of this madhouse before things really took a turn for the worst. Nursing a mug of swill they had the gall to call wine, she attempted to keep her foul mood from being too obvious, lest it arouse suspicion, but her kind weren't known for being good at such efforts. At least the place was almost empty, but with all traffic through the gates shut down, it only made sense. As she stared holes in the table before her, she became aware of another approaching her, a young male by the looks of it, garbed in flamboyant finery that matched the dress sense of almost every young male in this entire god-forsaking city. With an almost contemptible cocking smirk, he leaned into her vision, bracing himself on her table. "Hey there, sweet thing. Life got you down? Perhaps I could help you... blow off some steam?" he asked, voice dripping with sleazy innuendo.

And the only male in so far.
That too, Sin.
I'm planning on making my Nekomata (see, not a Lamia!) a male, too, so Occam won't be alone. Also, going to put up my charrie sheet (provided the forum will cooperate), though if there's issue with the forumlas, as stated above, will happily change things around.

Name: Atair
Race: Nekomata
Element: Fire
Gender: Male
Description: Atair is still a fairly young male, close to the age where he likely should be considering finding himself a mate. Perhaps a shade on the tall side for his ilk (5'3"), his lean form helps make up the difference, balancing out his frame. His eyes range a sort of greenish-gold, the color much more visible when he's excited or intent on something. His hair is black, peppered with lighter grey streaks, reaching his shoulders, his ears and tails being slightly banded with the dark colors as well. He also has a strip of the same grey-black fur that runs the length of his spine, not something readily noticable, though, unless he's shirtless, obviously. A few constants to his wardrobe are a pair of black leather bracelets and the circular jade pendant that he wears (and worries when he's thinking.)

((Still difficult to find good catboys out there, but I've come close. The first, it's more for the ear coloring. That's close to his own. The second, I think, sums up his attitude in the bearing and facial expression. Hair's wrong, though. His is less curly on top and longer in the back.))
((Found the damn pendant, at any rate. Looks like the first one, colored like the second.))

Background: There were whispers starting, that the ancient enemies would rise once more. Though his people trained for such an occasion, it did not mean they relished the thought of it. But how much of the stories they heard was truth and how much was simply fearful imaginings? That was what his clan leader wished to know and Atair, eager to both please his liege and explore the land beyond the borders of his home, volunteered to find the answer. Of course, what he does once he finds it is left entirely up to the Fates.

Re: The Ill-Portented Expedition (crossgrave, blueslime, chibi)

Soren was beside himself with delight. Even though some time had passed between when they'd told him he'd been chosen and the day of the expedition his excitement hadn't waned at all. He drove his family crazy with all his babblings, he knew it. His packs were loaded with necessities and some not to necessary pieces of equipment. His journal sat in the bottom of the bag, along with an extra, to help document everything he saw. He'd been up well before the sun checking and double checking his equipment and the time of the meeting. When he could stand the wait no longer, he grabbed his things and left.

Even now he was rifling through his bag checking the contents on the way to the gate. When he arrived, his gaze took in the placid Nath and the pacing professor. Hopefully he wasn't too early, or he'd have gone from worrying at home to worrying here. He nodded silently at them and pulled out his journal, debating on whether to start it here, or after they'd left. He took a deep breath and reluctantly put it back. There will be time for this later he told himself.

Name: Nae
Race: Siren
Element: Water
Gender: Female
Description:
Like most of her kind, Nae lives up to the reputation of being beautiful. Her soft features are framed by her long hair which starts as a deep blue on her head before fading into a royal purple as it grows out, matching her striking eye colour. She has a lithe build, standing about 5'2'' at her full height, though her wings can give her a more impressive presence from a distance.
She is normally dressed very simply, using whatever clothing she had handed down to her. She tends to wear a simple dull green dress with a few bracelets scavenged from some unlucky travelers.

Background:
Nae has always been interested in meeting new people, so her races self imposed distance didn't sit well with her. She came up with the rather solid notion that perhaps if she went to the mainland, then she could sing without having her audience drown. However, it never really occurred to Nae that leaving home with little to nothing might be a bad idea. Even without the hazard of a large body of water, she has had little luck in spreading her song without something going wrong in her wake. Though she is still determined to make friends, she's a little more careful about just where she'll strike up a song. At least until someone seems interested in hearing one.

Re: The Ill-Portented Expedition (crossgrave, blueslime, chibi)

Just behind Soren slithered Satuma, her self-designed hand-cannon rifle slung over her shoulder. She was dressed in her typical greenery, offset by her flame red hair and crimson scales. Her emerald eyes glittered as she took in the other three naga-kin before her.

"Hello Nath. Good to see you again." She spoke with a subdued mirth, as if the world were one big inside joke that she was in on.

Her face was on full display today, with all her piercings in place, making her look more youthful and rebellious than she was in actuality. It also had the affect of not making her look like a soldier, but she was.

She cracked off a very proper, smart salute that seemed to come out of nowhere, before giving a nod to the professor. "Professor Htamedisil, it is a pleasure to meet you. My name is Satuma Noree. Your Discussions of the Lamian Dark Age was a thought-provoking read. I read through it, and though I don't share your pessimistic conclusions, I think it pragmatic to follow this current line of inquiry, just in case."

She finished off her introductions with a wave to Soren. "Hi."

I'm interested in taking Support Magic for my Tier 3, but that would sorta require I have a group. Any adventurers interested in stumbling upon a cottage surrounded by flowers up on a seacliff and meeting the mute (trap) Siren inside?

"Oh! Oh hi." He stumbled over his words a little. It was to be expected, most people never took notice of him, especially not pretty females. He swallowed and struggled to think of something polite to say, but what came out was, "You're too pretty to be a soldier." He covered his mouth with his hands and turned bright red and started mumbling apologies for his rudeness.

Re: The Ill-Portented Expedition (crossgrave, blueslime, chibi)

Azalia appeared a few minutes after Soren and Satuma, looking rather cranky. She had a habit of working for hours during the night and getting up from bed really late, but such a schedule was impossible to maintain on an expedition. Still, it was a small price to pay for such a golden opportunity. The goal was closely connected to her own interests - in fact, the stories of the dark age were exactly what sparked her curiosity and drove her to studying magic in the first place. When professor Jontus asked her to join his expedition, she immediately answered yes. She was familiar with the old man's work, altough her interest in archeology was more of a hobby she indulged in in her free time.

As she finally arrived at the gate, Azalia stretched her body, stifling another yawn. Boy, was she sleepy... Not enough to impair her, but it was annoying anyway. "Morning, everyone..." The girl greeted her group without much enthusiasm. She wasn't used to staying in a group for too long, but it was just a minor inconvenience. And maybe they weren't too bad to have around. Even if they were nasty, having a chance to learn more about the nearly forgotten past of her race was too much to let it pass. Though she was wondering why that young soldier had so many piercings. Oh well. Not like she didn't have any quirks at all.

Satuma blinked her perfect glittering green eyes and broadened her smile, shifting her body up to Soren's, getting quite close to him. It was halfway between intimidating and alluring the way she swayed her coils.

She stared at him a long moment, inches away from his face, before she giggled and broke the spell. "Well, aren't you an adorable little snake charmer?" She pinched the nervous young male's cheeks playfully and winked before settling back on her lower body which coiled up for comfort. "You don't just use that line and blush at every girl that crawls on by, do you?"

Re: The Ill-Portented Expedition (crossgrave, blueslime, chibi)

Soren was speechless. His eyes darted back and forth and he looked like he would rather be anywhere but here. "I... but... I..." He stammered, trying to make the thoughts in his head stop whirling around. If he had his choice he'd never be involved with a female. They were too distracting! Books were safer and far less likely to give him a heart attack. He then blurted out the next thing on his mind, "Neverhadawoman!" and then he curled into a rather miserable ball and covered his face with his hands, wishing he could just sink through the dirt and never be seen again.
