Re: Space and Battle Thread (Milky Way)

((Whoops, thought I was with the second ambush, fix'd))

((And fix'd again))

Veda simply continues targeting any lead ships in the disorganized rabble they've turned the Bentari into. She has more and more choices, as they seem to be recovering from their earlier confusion now.

((You actually are with the Earth planet ambush, just the ships already arrived there. The Protoss Ship is at the Space Gate, different location from where you are. Note to self: Make these more clear lol, I'm even confusing myself now.))

Re: Space and Battle Thread (Milky Way)

As the Ingrali enter the connection room they behold a truly immense construct, with a design completely unlike the other drones. A barrel-like headless humanoid body, at least 10 feet high, is supported by long insectoid legs sprouting from it's shoulders. As it beholds the Ingrali the lower portion of the body unfolds into a multitude of arms, the former solid shell parting into thin triangular spikes at their end. Underneath it they can see a single large crystal. . . and what appears to be a human brain frozen inside it.

Behind the drone the Ingrali see a myriad of cables running into a tube and bundling them. A solid metal plate serves as a plug, and a rail system leads to a corresponding socket on the slightly curved far wall. That has to be the connection mechanism.

Re: Space and Battle Thread (Milky Way)

As expected, a small ship like the Florence had no issues at all avoiding the firepower going around. Plus, with the fighters after Ixack, all she had to do was the occasional teleport, and her path was practically clear.

Daina steers directly for a recognisable bridge on one of the Bentari warships, and pulls up directly in front of it, just hovering there for a moment. The aura around her ship builds, sharpens, and coalesces at the front - then strikes out in a smooth blue ray. The Asari wasn't going to hang around to see the damage - as soon as the shot was off, the Florence was gone, zipping away between the behemoths.

((I'll leave what happened to them up to our good Siphon.. considering that that was the original version of the gravity weapon he adopted for the Kara, augmented and directed by Daina's own biotics :p. Should be fun, AND it ignores shields..))

Re: Space and Battle Thread (Milky Way)

VELOKIAN PLANET

The Ingrali stare at the creature, unsure if the brain there is what is controlling it. One speaks to the human viewing them. "Are you seeing this? You said you didn't create this thing?"

P3X-474

Veda was quite correct, the Draque, Enoly and Bentari ships were now regrouping and beginning to fight back. The Bentari launched fighters, to which the hive responded in kind.... six fold.

Several of the ships broke off, aiming for the Hive, while the rest of them scattered amongst the other ships there. The shields flared up around Talok's ship, visible to Veda as they could see into open space through the 'window'.

Talok returned fire with the Plasma weaponry here and there where he saw an opening that Veda might have missed, but otherwise as far as the beams went, he was allowing her to fire them in more favor of dodging shots as best as he could.

GOU'ALD SHIP YARDS

The Gou'ald ships continued to plug away at the enemy fleet, but were beginning to take some damage. It seemed Gou'ald shielding wasn't lasting long under the Bentari weaponry, and to speed it up, the Bentari launched their fighters. The Hatak responded by launching waves of death gliders, but this fight was beginning to turn towards the enemy side right now.

That was when Nebula's asteroid smashed into about thirty of the Draque and Enoly ships, shattering them. Their shields held under the initial impact, but the explosion of the Naquadah ripped them apart easily. This left now thirty seven of the original fleet of enemy ships left, highly unorganized now.

DRAQUE SPACE GATE

The Bentari warship that Daina targeted never knew what hit them. One second they were fine, annoyed at the little gnat buzzing them, the next, their entire ship was crushed to about the thickness of a dime, and exploded violently. The intense gravity well so close to them had literally squished them like the bugs they had just viewed Daina to be.

The five remaining Bentari ships soon became four as a concentrated burst of fire from both the Kara and the Beliskner crushed the already crippled one Ixack had left for them. With four ships left, the Bentari seemed to panic, or perhaps they were just suicidal. They began flying right towards both ships, two each, trying to ram them.

The Beliskner managed to move upwards, and then rained Asgard weaponry down on both ships, confusing them so that they rammed each other, taking them both out.

Siphon's two Bentari pursuers were a bit smarter, and managed to avoid the same fate. Unfortunately for them, the Kara was much more maneuverable and he slipped behind one ship, carving it apart with plasma beams from behind. This left the one ship and the fighters it now launched left.

There was suddenly an explosion of light from the shields near the back end of the Kara, and it would seem to everyone that nothing had impacted there at all. Regardless, it had happened, and yet it didn't seem to be affecting the ship at all.

The modified Gliders began targeting the fighters, and would periodically strafe run the larger remaining Bentari vessel.

When the Bentari began launching fighters, the Shadow Wind responded in kind, sending out a full wing of its own. The other four carriers there also launched fighters, however these seemed slower, and only formed a net of sorts in between the planet and the battle.

The escorts continued hammering away at the Bentari.

Shipyards

The carriers here also deployed fighters, and the escorts moved in and began assaulting the attackers here, once they got in range.

Re: Space and Battle Thread (Milky Way)

Draque Space Gate

Ixack laughs to himself in his mind, this time disappearing and re-appearing outside the Bentari's shields "Come get me!" he broadcasts to the Bentari within his power, taunting them to try and catch him as he focused his attention on the one ship still pursuing Siphon's vessel "I have your back, Siphon. I'll keep their fighters distracted, you handle the ship itself." he broadcasts to Siphon as he moves towards the pursuing Bentari ship

Re: Space and Battle Thread (Milky Way)

Shipyards

*No! You're supposed to catch the rock and throw it back. Here, I'll give you another chance.* Nebula transmits as it flings another naquadah asteroid.

Re: Space and Battle Thread (Milky Way)

Draque Space Gate

The Florence slips away from the ruined vessel, the pilot laughing quietly to herself. This was one little gnat with a sting in her tail!

"Last one is all yours, Siphon. I don't think these Bentari will be coming back anytime soon."

Re: Space and Battle Thread (Milky Way)

DRAQUE SPACE GATE

"Unlikely."

A single blast from both the Beliskner and then a plasma beam from the Kara finished off the last Bentari warship, leaving just a handful of mini fighters left.

They suddenly veered away, on a collision course for the two larger ships. Both managed to avoid all but three of the ships, as they impacted the shields and exploded.

The remaining fighters were taken out quickly by the 302's, and they then returned to the Kara. "Excellent, alright, come back aboard, we still have some work to do."

P3X-474

The unmanned ships hard work finally paid off as the Bentari ships broke formation, heading after them, and, ironically, went right into the line of fire of their 'allies'. Two of the Bentari ships were destroyed immediately, and the others were quickly taken out by the Plasma Beams from Talok's ship. This left just the Draque and Enoly ships left, and their numbers were dwindling fast.

GOU'ALD SHIP YARDS

Once more Nebula's toss blew up more ships, though by now they had begun to trace the location they were being thrown from. A Dozen ships broke off and headed in the direction Nebula was at, seemingly with the intent to kill.

There were now twenty two ships left, only ten of which were still engaging the Gou'ald. The numbers were somewhat more balanced for the moment, and the Gou'ald weaponry began firing anew.

"Acknowledged. Returning to the Kara. I am just hoping I was of some use to you, Mister Siphon." Ixack broadcasts to Siphon as he alters his course and heads for the Kara

Re: Space and Battle Thread (Milky Way)

*No, no, no. It's harder to catch if you're closer and your bad enough as it is. At least stop there and try to catch.* Nebula broadcasts again while throwing an asteroid, still not understanding that the other side didn't view this as a game.

Re: Space and Battle Thread (Milky Way)

Veda split her attention between the larger and smaller ships now, hoping to cull the numbers of the smaller ships in case they tried another suicide run like the last time.

A status indicator went off in her visor, updating her on the repairs on her ship. There had been another snag, but it can wait until after the battle for her to deal with. She acknowledges it and focuses on the fight once more.

Re: Space and Battle Thread (Milky Way)

DRAQUE SPACE GATE

"Indeed you were Ixack, very nicely done.

Siphon would be standing up on the bridge, looking over readings of the Space Gate when both Ixack and Daina would arrive back on the bridge.

P3X-474

Veda didn't have to worry much, the Wrath darts were solely focusing on the smaller enemy fighters and ganging up on them, often times a six to one ratio outnumbering the enemy.

The larger ships of the enemy were badly damaged already, and only a dozen now remained. Unlike before though, this time they were not retreating, although two Draque Marauders broke down on a hard course, and began trying to fire at the surface of the planet.

GOU'ALD SHIPYARDS

The enemy ships coming at Nebula were ready this time, and fired on the asteroid as soon as they saw it coming. Unfortunately, they neglected to scan it properly, and thus were unprepared for the solid Naquadah core it had exploding from the weapons impact. Eight of the ships trying to attack Nebula were destroyed, and the other two suffered heavy damage.

The other ten ships had now been reduced to three, torn apart by the Hatak now outnumbering them. This left five in total.

Re: Space and Battle Thread (Milky Way)

P3X-474

Unfortunately for the Marauders, the carriers and a few of the escort ships had pretty decent shielding, and had formed a wall of sorts between them and the planet.

The drone fighters from the Shadow Wind also appeared to have one advantage over the hostile fighters...the space equivalent of exceptional afterburners. They appeared to be focusing on strafing run style tactics, although there is variance.

Re: Space and Battle Thread (Milky Way)

*Why did the rock explode? Sorry, I didn't know it would do that. Let's try with a different one.* Nebula says, flinging another asteroid.

Re: Space and Battle Thread (Milky Way)

Daina wasted no time in docking the Florence, porting straight through the hangar bays without bothering to wait for them to open. Within five minutes, she was back on the bridge, and apparently, not even out of breath. Commando training was rigorous for every species, it seemed.

"Siphon. What do we have?"

Re: Space and Battle Thread (Milky Way)

P3X-474

The Marauders were getting angry now, judging by their movements. There was a sudden energy surge from the remaining ships just before each in turn exploded due to heavy damage.

Talok hissed a curse before getting on the radio. "Son of a bitch, they abandoned ship. About four hundred Draque life signs just popped up on the planet, outside any major town, but they are moving towards one. We may have to go planet side here folks."

GOU'ALD SHIPYARDS

This time the remaining ships didn't make much effort to try and shoot the asteroid, probably because they didn't think Nebula would try it again. As a result, the last five ships were destroyed when they were hit.

DRAQUE SPACE GATE

Siphon nodded to Daina. "I have managed to isolate the controls for that space gate. I THINK if we wanted to we could dial it out and scout their galaxy any time we want. For right now though, the gate shield is online. Thor reported that several Bentari boarded his ship, but were vented out into space. Now I'm not sure what's going on here, but the engine core started acting up a few minutes ago as if it had taken damage. I've sealed off that section, but unfortunately there isn't an outer hatch there. We MIGHT have been boarded, no way to know for certain. For some reason internal sensors went offline half way during the battle."

Re: Space and Battle Thread (Milky Way)

Ixack would dock his ship and walk towards the bridge, arriving in time to hear something about being boarded "If they decided to board the ship. They will be cut down by my blade."

Re: Space and Battle Thread (Milky Way)

Draque Space Gate

Blue fingers drop to the Asari's waist, resting easily on the pistol holstered there. A thoughtful pause, then she asks..

"How long until we have internal sensors online? I don't want to go in there blind. Do we have any portable sensor units we could use to scan for lifesigns? I don't want to risk an ambush.."
