I wouldn't say reviled. It's kind of like when there's a big scandal with a drunk teen driver in the media, and then everyone wants to talk to the parents, and one of the parents can't be found and the other one is seen by the cameras but never says anything, so people start blaming visible parent for whatever happened instead of the silly kid.
This year's Black Friday made that shit look tame. Shootings, pepper spray, fistfights, stabbings, hit-and-runs, and a partridge in a pear tree.
