I was under the impression the movie was from Thailand. Well, someone lied to me. Indonesian cops are hard core then. And Silat eh? I was wondering what they were performing.

One week...

Just watched the new Starship Troopers movie. Starship Troopers: Invasion. Tis an animated flick with a lot of Japanese design behind it. Much better than the last two have been, not quite matching with the original though as it turns out to be mostly a solid action movie rather than anything making commentary on society and government like the original or the book.

Really, the only thing I can truly nitpick though is some of the design choices. The underarmour for the female troopers was much more sexualized. I can understand why tight black pants and tank-toppy looking wear makes sense under power armour, but why does it look so different from the green jump suit looking thing the men got? Kind of defeats the purpose of a uniform to me. And the ship crew uniforms looked a bit too fetish style for my tastes. It would be good in a porn not here. I guess that's the Japanese influence, but still... Starship Troopers had always shown a pretty solid equality between genders, what they did here kind of ruins that.

Lastly, was the way many of the character deaths were handled (You knew it was going to happen). They were either so quick with character's you didn't even know that it held zero meaning, or they were always super-heroic. It got a little stale after a while.

Other than that, rather enjoyable movie. Good little pop-corn muncher that's just fun to sit back and watch.

As i said in some other places it had considerably more nudity than i was expecting.

I figured there would be some, but you are right. There was much more than expected... some scenes felt a little shoved in there.

There is quite a bit, but not as much as movies like this would have you believe.

People do get horny in those situations, but again, not as much as movies like this would have you believe.

Exit Humanity, a movie about a zombie apocalypse that takes place just after the U.S. Civil War. I highly recommend it, as it's easily the most enthralling zombie film I've seen since 28 Days Later.

I do have to finish that. Only got about half way through. First half was pretty good.

The first half is a little slow, but I liked it a little better than the second half. The story gets a little silly, and there's less of Brian Cox' narration. Still really good though, and definitely worth finishing if only for the experience.

I have been watching a boatload of kung-fu films, for lack of a better term. Indonesia is apparently very hardcore.

I've been watching the live action series Halo: Forward unto Dawn, and I must say I am mightily impressed. You don't need to know Halo at all, the series stands amazing on its own.

So some dobes decided to remake the first Evil Dead movie with the intentions of going with the true, gory horror aspect the first movie wanted to be.
Also I will mention that Evil Dead 2 is a remake of the first movie with more fun and awesome.

Might wanna mention for those who don't know.

Anyway, is there no originallity no more? Or did an apocalypse happen while I wasn't looking and everything has to reset?

The Evil Dead featuring anyone other than Bruce Campbell is like the next Bond movie featuring Richard Simmons.

edit: Just found out that he actually is in that movie, although I couldn't tell from the trailer, because I skipped through it. What has he done... f*ck Bruce Campbell.

From what I've read, it's a solid remake. Bruce Campbell is behind it, Sam Rami is behind it, and everybody who's seen preview footage loves it. So go ahead and hate it on principal, I guess, but I'll probably be watching it at some point.
