I take issue with this, I've heard creators, including one I respect recently agree that what you should do is have a beginning point, and an end point, but have the characters let you know how they get there.
I'm not saying that what you said is a bad idea, if that's how you work, but it is far from the only method which is effective.
8) General advice: before you ever open RPGMaker, you should have a good idea about the entire plot of your game, all of your main characters, and the setting. This "game", such as it is, feels poorly thought out and aimless. This is the type of thing people make when they first open up RPGMaker to see how it works.
