Originally it was meant as a demeaning term for someone who is constantly used (like a tool) though nowadays it's used to just insult someone even if it's out of context. Pretty much like any insult these days.

Why the fuck is gay such a negative term for homosexuals? Wasn't the original meaning an expression of joy or festivity? Hell I read a couple of books that used the freakin word, some being a bit recent too.
The same could said about other homosexual insults, like fag. Fag meant ciggarette. You can't possibly have me believe a ciggaretteis related to a homosexual in any way. And faggot meant a bundle of sticks tied together. Perhaps there might be some possible connection between the two, but that's beside the goddamn point.
I mean, did you know that some people actually consider muffins to be an authentic term for the vaginal area of a female? Speaking of which, there seems to be an awful list of food used as sexual terms as well. I personally hate it when my eating time gets mixed up with sex.
Culture is a quirky bastard that never stops changing. In twenty years from now, a simple "Hey!" will probably transform into the aggressive request to get anally raped with a horse's severed phallus. Because that's going to be the next traditional fad in the next century.

There were three, and they seem to be in total thirty times the worth of the anonymous negrepper's negreps in reputation points o.o, I'm quite shocked.
