The Works of Toonpimp

Re: Kya's Quest

Front page of his web page. That horrible flash scrolling nonsense has it listed as the default, very first thing.

Anyway, this game seems to be more polished in its graphics, but mechanically it's garbage. I think Polly's Tale is by far the best game of his overall.

I don't know if I agree with it being mechanically garbage. Definitely unpolished, but not garbage.

Re: Kya's Quest

Wow, this is awful. Toonpimp never fails to inspire me in the absolute worst way.

Is this seriously supposed to be the same weapon that Kya actually uses?

How can Toonpimp have enough understanding of flash to make a game, and yet have such a blatant disregard for basic shapes? Honestly..

Anyhow, I wonder why he didn't just use voice clips from the original game, rather than some random voice. Too much work, I suppose.

Re: Kya's Quest

At risk of sounding like a bit of an ass, is it me or does his work seem to be degrading in quality as each game comes out? His level design and gameplay seems to be getting worse and worse. You think after as many games he has made he would of gotten good enough to make something passable.

From what I've gathered he doesn't care in the slightest about criticisms like this. It baffles me someone can be satisfied with work like this.

Re: Kya's Quest

Toonpimp's demeanor is not the point of this topic. Leave it be or this thread is getting locked.

Re: Kya's Quest

The deterioration of these games from version to version is nothing new. Its been said, repeated, and discussed on several fronts. That's why this game and its reception don't surprise me in the least...

Re: Kya's Quest

I don't know if I agree with it being mechanically garbage. Definitely unpolished, but not garbage.

Stalls between punches (particularly bad after the third in the combo) when enemies have quick attacks, punch range shorter than necessary to hit enemies (it's half Deborah's range on her punch...), total lack of usefulness for combos except when attacking multiple enemies, air attack is worthless, unable to hit enemies when they're down, super repetitive due to single move chain, feels far longer than it is due to combination of health total and how long enemies stay down....

I can't point out a single thing that this game does well mechanically. That doesn't even touch the multitude of other issues, ranging from the background (Windows 95 tiles, much?), lack of any consistency in the artistic direction (tell me that Kya and those wolves are the same artistic style, at all...), underwhelming sex scenes, and more.....it's worthy of a comparison to Big Rigs.

Re: The Works of Toonpimp

Hmm, I remember when I played some of his first games, like the castlevania one and such, those were great, now all I hear is complaints. I honestly haven't tried many after that. Are the games actually worse or are people just harping on him for his personality and judging his games harsher? (Yes or no, simple answer is fine. Don't want to start people up with their bitching.)

Yeah, tried it and it's certainly a downgrade from previous ones I've played. Those games used to have weapons, more combos and attacks, a slide or dash button, etc. Might go replay some now. He'd probably do better if he went back and played his old games.

I would say it's both, exactly by what perportion is open to debate.

Re: Kya's Quest

it's worthy of a comparison to Big Rigs.

Big rigs wasn't even playable. (In b4 NEITHER IS THIS GAME)
I agree, it's not a very good game. But comparing it the the travesty that was big rigs is a little harsh dontcha think?

Anyway, now that I've taken the time to actually finish the game.
It's meh. Sex scenes are okay, nothing special. Very disappointed in the lack of combos. For a game that features a combo counter, you really don't make much use of it.

Pretty short. Took me about a half hour to beat. It only took me that long because of multiple deaths and having to wait five seconds for the enemies to stand up after I knocked them down.

Last boss was frustrating as all hell.

I liked the idea that the escape meter gets longer if you get raped multiple times, but he should have made it reset after an enemy cums, because it quickly turns into being unable to escape rape whatsoever.

Character models are pretty good, but animate strangely..

Annnnd I guess that's about all I can say.

Re: The Works of Toonpimp

I generally think the forum is too hard on toonpimp but honestly I have to agree this game isn't all that good. In fact its a step backwards from some of his previous works IMO. His other games didn't have enemies with such obnoxiously large health bars. Plus you could run past enemies in many of those older one's too. Artwork also seems worse.

Doesn't seem like his heart is into this much anymore.

For those that care, right clicking and pressing forward on the main menu will bring you to the gallery.

Personally i think toon pimp had some alright games, but they are few and far in between, this is one of them.

and about ulmf being to hard on toonpimp, probably. but didn't he add a password to a game that was something like "ulmfsucks" or something?

Re: The Works of Toonpimp

I dont know why or how but toonpimps his animations always look so sloppy, at the start it didnt bother me that much but its now turning into one big turn off for me.

Re: The Works of Toonpimp

I looked up the fact that this game was a commission and apparently it costed about 450 bucks.

450 in a game with gaming mechanics that are on par with an average (but buggy) beat-em up game, with sexual contents less than what you get from just watching porn free on the internet. On top of that, the game finished with a To be Continued scenario, and the guy has the nerve to say "pay me again if you want more". My neural components exploded from the sheer nonsense I had to comprehend from this. Seriously, WTF? 450 is EXTREMELY generous for such a low quality game.

The game was okay, better than some of his older stuff in my opinion. But I'm a little disturbed on how he acts like this. He keeps mentioning on how he needs money to support himself, but really that goes without saying. That's like keep saying we need air to breathe, it's really pissing me off how he keeps using that card whenever people say he could do a little better at least and criticize the game for being somewhat lackluster.

... Okay, let me lay off. I know people don't really want to see whining about ToonPimp, but it really intrigues me that someone like him actually exists on the internet. Really, I think the biggest morons are the ones who keep paying him so much for something almost equal to an Atari game in terms of content and gameplay. But I can't judge... it's not like he's forcing them to pay, so...

I don't know what's going on.

Re: The Works of Toonpimp

Damn...never knew all this was here. I'm glad he's not working on my game anymore.

Re: The Works of Toonpimp

I'm sorry. But at this point it's not TP's fault anymore. These people know the quality of the work he releases, the fact that he's way overcharging them, and that he's going to want more before he's done, if he even finishes it at all. But still they commission him, you can't blame the gun when someone shoots themself.

If it doesn't jam on them.

Funny you should mentioned it since as far as I heared/read he's could
start remaking 2 imfamous Atari games if the people vote for them.

That depends on how much he makes from his other jobs. Maybe 450 dollars is worth 2 days time of work for him, if it gets to that much. The quality is OK for a 2-day game, maybe even great, specially considering he might have built everything from the ground... Well, most of it anyway.

Also, 450 might seem like a lot for a game this shitty, but it's kind of the same as having 100 people buying it for 4.50, which looks more acceptable, doesn't it? Sucks to be the one who paid it all, though.

If he manages to get commissions with that sort of quality... I wonder if he could get much more if he improved?
