About open world part, I think those 2 games not a good example. I still thinking about Muramasa, Odin Sphere and maybe Princess Crown. Game will take a lot more time to make so I need good enough support. I don't want to spend lot of time and hope for DLsite sales. Then got stun when see the real sales like Virgin Invader.
Those 3 game i list 機核覚醒～機工姫ルース～ / {(dark sphere) i got is wrong the name is 'nightmare sphere'} not good example but same platform as Muramasa.
As for the 3rd game i list 異種姦ACT is Due to the Mapping of stages which can be backtrack.
i am not here to break your cake , but 1st i think its best not to make a AAA game alone as you know the internet is Full of BS .... Nyaa is 1 of them there are tons more out there.
if u need enough support the best way is to increase your circle* ( Blog or something ) Best if it is another author intro your game.
More people = More $$ which lead to More Full of .... ( Sadly

About H part, you mean one playable character and other two as sub characters or all 3 playable
If all 3, I think game price should go up more than $20 or make 2 paid DLC

If u pick Alchemist Girl your starting stage will be at City, then u can choose your stage 2/3 ( either Forest or Jungle ).
If u pick Elf Girl your starting stage will be Forest then u can choose your stage 2/3 ( either City or Jungle ).
If u pick Fox / Wolf Girl your starting stage will be at Jungle then u can choose your stage 2/3 ( either City or Forest ).
As for price go up i think its fine but
For a DLC That will make people run away.
