Got an entirely unexpected invite to a cage fighting event on Saturday. A case of a friend (Who shall be referred to as D ) having a spare ticket after his intended date fell ill and couldn't make it. Not my normal scene at all, but he has no one else to ask, and it's always interesting to try something new. Very different, but worth going. Two of the fighters that day, brothers, were good friends of D, and when it came to the elder of the brothers match, the younger one pulled me over to the side of the ring and said I could pretend to be one of their corner-men. Before I knew what was happening, I ended up crouching at the side of the ring trying to pretend I knew what the hell I was doing. A weird unexpected shock to get dragged over there, but felt pretty cool to get involved like that.
Both the brothers won their fights, and latter me, D, the brothers, some other guys we met there, and a former regional champion of some kind (I really struggled to keep up, but the brothers treated him like a hero), all ended up at the fanciest bar I've ever been to, and the fighters pretty much threw victory drinks at us. I somehow managed to avoid any of my normal hyper timid and awkward blunders, and got a very friendly farewell from all of them when it was time for me and D to leave.
A very sudden and very different Saturday.
And now on to what will go in the panic thread for now... >_>

I was feeling like shit today because I was reminding myself of how worthless I was to so many communities.. How I'd driven so many people to hate me because they thought I was worthless, or that what I contributed was nothing good..
Then I remembered this place..
Sure, it's a website about looking at, playing, and sharing hentai..
But who care's, I'm SOMEBODY here! I'm actually appreciated by a few people here, and I'm not completely hated by everyone. (hopefully yet)
Knowing that really gave me a big confidence boost, and helped me get through my 4-day sickness (sore throat, headache, ect)
I love you all, even toxic, no matter how much he bleeds

I won my first Dark Souls PVP. I'm not particularly good, but in this case a mere backstab with the Hornet Ring was enough. (Don't you bitch about it. I already had it equipped before I was invaded, and I'm not taking it off just to deal with some punk).

Going for a night walk on campus and spotting a little garter snake on the path, not to mention a really interesting bug, a bunny, and watching a plane give the effect that the stars were spinning. Kinda neat.
Oh, and not running into any zombies. (Which was a legit thing. They were doing a zombie walk sort of thing, though it started about half an hour after we got back, but still...)

And it did, honestly, help her make her point. (I'm paraphrasing a bit here.) They're talking about porn in one of her english classes and how bad it is and how bad it is toward women and every time she tries to make an intelligent question (Like "Where does the BDSM subculture fall in this?" or "What about gay porn?" or "If porn is so bad for marriages, why is it that some marriage counselors recommend that couples rent a porn together?") the teacher, because she doesn't have an answer for her, glosses right over it and ignores her. So their task today was to bring in mainstream pornography.
Sixteen and a half pounds of gay porn.
And back to her making her point, when the teacher questioned whether or not yaoi was mainstream, S's response was "Most of this can be purchased off the shelf, at a bookstore, without ID." She further went on to make the argument that yaoi manga are made by women FOR women. Men have very little to do with the yaoi industry outside of being in the books. It was also to help disprove the argument that women are not turned on by visual stimulation. There were also other issues brought up, such as "how can this be degrading to women if there are no women?" And, of course, folks in the class wanted to see the books. So the response was "Be careful. They're not mine." It also helped her find the yaoi fangirls in the class and she literally got to watch her teacher make a real life face.

Kinda reminds me of a moral controversies class I took back in college where we were talking about pornography. I tried to make the point that there's lots of different kinds of porn and that some women like to watch it too (without making things too personal), and suddenly I was getting a bunch of icy glares from most of the other girls in the room like I was a witch or something. All like well maybe YOU watch porn!! Pretty conservative crowd I guess... or a bunch of stuck up liars more likely.

That's not including the stuff that I went "eh" and stuck in similar DVD bags and put in storage. (Though, not all of that is yaoi stuff. It's also finished series and partials that went to omnibi.) I didn't include any of my oversized stuff, nor all of the books in series. (Like, I only included volume 1 of 4.) Which was something I asked her. "Do you want first or last volume, so as to be able to say "This one has six books. This one has 4 books, etc etc." But we went with just first volumes and stand alones.
And yeah, there's a reason I didn't go to that class with her the day I went to campus with her. I probably would have wound up arguing with the teacher. Same with her creative writing class, but that's another story altogether.
