Re: Your Class

Yeah... My rogues have tendencies to try and sneak small valuble items out of treasure chests before the rest of the team knows about them.
Reminds me of my thief, Whisper, who managed to get a sizeable portion of the treasure from one fight all for herself because she was 1. the only one capable of climbing up the trees to get at it and 2. mute, so when she hid the diamond in her mouth, no one thought anything of the fact that she wasn't talking. In fact, the only reason the party got *any* portion of the treasure was because they were smart enough to Detect Magic on her to see if she found anything (she did) and the one statue was too big for her to conceal. She actually made off with a good chuck of the gold and gems. Good times. Good times.

And she was a freaking *clepto* too. If it was shiny and valuable, she wanted it and would go to any lengths to get it.

Weird, I don't see the Monk part at all. I'm a little surprised by the alignment, too. I've always thought more Neutral Good than Lawful Good.

Re: Your Class

I think the monk part could be based on the "Eastern Religion" questions - did you pick it over the others in those?

Yep, first time I played Rashar (Who tends to be my name for rogues most of the time), the group saw a treasure chest across an unexplored room where the ceiling forced everyone to crawl forward along the ground. Instead of sending the meat shield out to check for creatures, Rashar rushed out to loot the chest because it had loot.

I picked it over New Age, but I picked Western Religion over Eastern when the choice came up. I'm not actually particularly religious at all, but there didn't seem to be many questions aside from "The universe is ruled by..." and "I put my faith in..." that seemed to allow for non-douchey atheism/agnosticism. ;)

I don't know, but if you read through the FAQ at the site. It explains how he decided some things when there sems to be atossup and stuff. It helps explain how everything was decided for the quiz.

Re: Your Class

well... I did that quiz, and despite what I said before...

I Am A: Lawful Good Human Paladin (3rd Level)
Ability Scores:
Strength-16
Dexterity-16
Constitution-16
Intelligence-14
Wisdom-14
Charisma-17
Alignment:Lawful Good A lawful good character acts as a good person is expected or required to act. He combines a commitment to oppose evil with the discipline to fight relentlessly. He tells the truth, keeps his word, helps those in need, and speaks out against injustice. A lawful good character hates to see the guilty go unpunished. Lawful good is the best alignment you can be because it combines honor and compassion. However, lawful good can be a dangerous alignment because it restricts freedom and criminalizes self-interest.
Race:Humans are the most adaptable of the common races. Short generations and a penchant for migration and conquest have made them physically diverse as well. Humans are often unorthodox in their dress, sporting unusual hairstyles, fanciful clothes, tattoos, and the like.
Class:Paladins take their adventures seriously, and even a mundane mission is, in the heart of the paladin, a personal test an opportunity to demonstrate bravery, to learn tactics, and to find ways to do good. Divine power protects these warriors of virtue, warding off harm, protecting from disease, healing, and guarding against fear. The paladin can also direct this power to help others, healing wounds or curing diseases, and also use it to destroy evil. Experienced paladins can smite evil foes and turn away undead. A paladin's Wisdom score should be high, as this determines the maximum spell level that they can cast. Many of the paladin's special abilities also benefit from a high Charisma score.

interesting. I never would have thought myself lawful good, but hey, whatever.

Re: Your Class

You're in the military, I for one am not surprised. Lawful doesn't always mean that you follow Society's laws, it sometimes implies discipline, or a moral code. Like with mine, I was only a couple points away from lawful, and I hate laws.

Whisper wasn't *quite* like that, but she was more than willing to liberate people from their valuables so much so to the point that the cleric in the party started keeping needles in his pocket to keep her away from him. (He *was* a cleric of Bane.)

Which is why "Lawful" doesn't always mean "good" and "Chaotic" doesn't always equate to "evil."

Re: Your Class

A bit late to the thread here, but my first thoughts on reading the thread title were a Specialist Wizard in Illusion. Then I did the test. Wizard/Sorcerer, always fun for when they take away all your spell books and components and believe you to be harmless. Got some innate powers, but why not build on them?
Edit: Except I just noticed I would be a really crappy sorcerer due to the charisma score. Probably why I took up wizardry? Surprisingly durable though apparently. Perhaps because I don't get sick often?

Neat test.

Re: Your Class

Hmm, Sinful actually has some pretty good stats there, lv 3 and a total of 93 well placed points on the ability scores. A formidable foe however ironically named.

Re: Your Class

Wizard/Sorcerer
Not as good a combination as it sounds. You don't get to share spellbooks, and basically you end up being able to cast a few more spells... but you lose the best ones (at any given level). It's better 99% of the time to pick one or the other. Having natural talent and training it is a nice RP, but if you want to put it in the game it's probably better to pick up some feats that can give a wizard some minor sorcery ability then to put levels in it. Of course, this test isn't about what would be a good idea, which brings us to the next point:

Charisma- 9

To learn or cast a spell, a sorcerer must have a Charisma score equal to at least 10 + the spell level.
Hahahaha. You can't know any spells (as a sorcerer). With some charisma-boosting item or magic I guess you could cast low-level spells of a forbidden school from scrolls... but seriously!

The ability scores and professions are worked out completely independently, but they really ought to have zero'd out any spellcasting class if you can't even have 10 in the related attribute... I mean, his explanation that everyone isn't perfectly suited to their job is fine. Sure, someone's dad might force them to go to school to learn wizardry, and someone might find themselves forced to fight for their life enough to become a fighter. But how exactly do you explain someone manifesting talent as a sorcerer if they... can't do any magic as a sorcerer?

Re: Your Class

True, but the only class that's like that is sorceror. None of the other classes are all about innate ability. I could see a scenario where someone might become any class, except sorceror, simply because they have to. I think that's probably why I never liked the sorceror as a roleplaying option.

Well, all the spell-casting classes have the problem that if you don't have a 10 in a particular ability score you can't actually, you know, cast any spells. At all. Which makes gaining levels in that class... difficult?

Re: Your Class

Yeah the two spellcasting classes are like that, but I could still more easily envision someone with no intelligence trying to learn wizardry or being forced to, than a sorceror being forced to manifest powers he doesn't have. It's a small difference and only matters with roleplaying, unlike rollplaying or the best choice a mixture of the two.

I thought it kind of funny that I turned out a Paladin as well. Figured myself either a ranger or a fighter

Re: Your Class

Well wizard and sorcerer aren't the only classes that work like that, if I'm not mistaken; Cleric, Druid, and Bard (the divine magic classes) also work like that. Using wis/wis/cha respectively.

Interestingly enough, my stat scores seem to be broken as well given my class choices, I got 13 wis for my druid and 15 cha for my sorc... when my int was 16. I mean I guess it's not that bad. But it doesn't seem to fit.

Re: Your Class

cleric - healer and usually the moral compass of a group. Stands around and does nothing, really.
Sorry... Just needed to fix that. Kudos to whomever gets the reference, however.

Re: Your Class

About Cleric: Flamestrike and Mass Harm/Heal. Both of them do more damage than Wizard spells of similar levels, and are much more difficult to resist. Unlike Fighters, they can use buff spells on themselves, and unlike arcane casters they can wear armor while doing it, meaning they can actually survive melee fights. With their buffs Clerics do more damage and hit more often than Paladins of similar level, while being able to buff allies, use some offensive spells, debuff enemies, summon help, banish outsiders, and patch the injured party members back together.

And the Arcane Disciple class variant allows them to pick an arcane spell of their choice to add to their divine spell list, so long as it's at least a level below their max spell level, AND they get a wizards bonus feats. And all you give up is turn undead, the largely useless domains, and the completely useless spell conversion.

Though shalt not belittle the true servants of the gods! :p
