Fair enough. I mean, it takes a really good porn writer (Ha!) to give us something beyond "hora hora~! Your penis is splendid! Then again, Succubus Covenant's dev went with the "sperm and life force is our food source, but fuck conserving a food source because infinite timelines and shit!" It brings me out of the story when the stakes are "these are gluttonous monsters who have no concept of self-restraint or long-term survival strategies."
I've played enough to know what my preferences are. Good angles/animation, art, gameplay and the other building blocks of an h-game can work against that. My narrow preference is of cultivation, not just glancing over and discarding variety for the sake of being a fuckwit. I like sengoku rance for the gameplay, i like FOBS for the animation and wide variety of monstergirls. I didn't like monster girl quest (contraversial opinion probably) because the battles were too rigid and the rest of it is a VN, and i don't like VNs in general. I haven't refused anything.

I personally find stuff like Shrift and FOBS to be at the apex of monstergirl content, in terms of the developers giving us unique ways to lose and possibly deal with certain encounters. I agree that MGQ is way too rigid and the fact that the original trilogy is a VN (the laziest form of h-game content) while the rpgmaker "sequel" is basically final fantasy 6 with monster girls does not help it. The story is really generic and the simplest shit, and the only payoff is the fact that anyone who forces themselves through all the dialogue can get something beyond a few faps from it. The mouth-breathers who praise it, though, really need to fuck off the planet.

Maybe you haven't played enough corruption games. They aren't always the villain trying to directly corrupt the "vanilla shit, female protag", however, honestly, 99% of villains are pretty bad at their job, considering they drip-feed exp to the RPG hero and then wonder how he gained all those levels and ancient magic items that were left with properly balanced guard encounters for him...
I think it's more that I was spoiled in my "infancy" as an h-game connoisseur that I was exposed to stuff like CoC and basically everything on the hypnopics collective, that I became basically de-sensitized to the majority of what exists nowadays. I'm no longer excited by a new project, because it smacks of the 3,765 other projects just like it. When someone says "I've written a completely original game" and I can see it's been done a half-dozen times prior, I gotta call them out on it. It doesn't help if the dev is so far up their own ass that they refuse to believe the criticism of someone who has been around the block a couple thousand times.
Most villains in games are terrible at stopping the hero because they don't really give said hero their full focus until the third act, when the actions of the hero's party have sufficiently impacted the villain's plans. That, or the hero is paid some attention by the villain, but only as a passing interest and only because the hero shows some form of potential that shouldn't be ignored, no matter how insignificant. Then, you have a real fuck like Hisoka from HxH whose entire reason for living is making sure Gon becomes strong enough to make the infanticide worthwhile...

You also can't explain that magic can protect against that, because then you have to explain why magic doesn't just make the perfect victim for the rapist and thereby neutralize the threat altogether. When you start bending the fabric of reality with "because it's magic", you have to then stress-test the limits of your system against the most extreme scrutiny. Any system that fails to answer all of its "but why not x..." questions has already failed completely.
Lastly, Catgirls can be great. Smug foxes can be great. Pure fox waifus can be great. Strange cephalopod girls can be great... though i do prefer the tentacles be used on them, not originate from them.
