How often do you think zell will publicly release versions of this game to the public?

Honestly, there's no way to know.

Shiro No Yakata is now a joint venture between Zell and Ansala. Succubus Affection which was their other joint venture only had 1 demo before the final game was released. Maybe it'll be the same with SnY?
Thing is though, Zell's the kind of guy who likes giving out frequent updates even if he only makes a little progress as evident by FOBS and his early works in SnY, but those weren't public.

It's probably just gonna be 1 public demo and 1 final game. You might get more private demos though.

On another note, did you know that Zell was really REALLY apprehensive about taking any money for his works at all when he started? Dude had no confidence in his own abilities as a pixel art animator, thinking his works didn't deserve financial support since there were no big CGs as he can't draw large works. Now I've got no problem with free games, but the reason behind it is kinda depressing.

Ansala was able to influence zell positively, in my honest opinion, by giving him a modicum of financial success so he could gain that confidence. This is one of the things that inspired SnY.

I think if you like Zell and games of the reverse rape nature, it's a good idea to financially support him to get access to the public demos. Especially on Ci-En (not so much fantia.)
If you like these kinds of games, you have to show the creators of these games that you want them to make more, and that you are happy they are even making this kind of content.
Tons of promising developers literally disappeared after a failed project because they had no financial backing.

I say that but if you're hesitant that it's a game you'd like than hold off. Like... if you don't like Reverse rape, or horror themes, maybe don't support the game, but you wouldn't be here checking this thread if you weren't at least somewhat passionate and excited for the game.

There are currently no demos on Ci-En, only Fantia. If you want to best support the game it's probably for the best to wait until Ansala's unity version of SnY is released.
 
like the guy above you said, the game is on early access and if you want to play the early access you have to PAY for it, hence there's no link to download the current game.
second option is to wait for the dev to release a public demo.
 


So Ansala's talking about Shiro No Yakata and his progress on it.
He starts out by talking about it's inspirations and mentions Silent Hill Clocktower, then he questions the possibility of creating horror atmosphere if the experience itself is rewarding for the player since the player has sex.

I agree with him here. I feel like at most SnY will just borrow the tone and jumpscares of horror games. Sex with relatively attractive female bodies will innately take away from the horror elements.

Then he talks about planned content.
20+ girls.
30+ scenes.

Then he talks about what's going on when it comes to production.

Zell's only involved in creating the pixel art.
Ansala's doing the programming and he's gotten quite a lot done already.

Seems he's struggling with making the lighting additive.

For instance if two torches are near each other, instead of the lights blending into each other, the middle part will just be much brighter than the rest. He did use mostly static lighting before, so this is a good challenge for him. If he just sets a maximum value for the lighting this won't be a problem. Either way, I hope he solves it, because lighting is one of the most important things when it comes to these kinds of titles.

Good news is he's aware of how Shiro No Yakata needs good level design, in comparison to Succubus Affection. One of my biggest issues with Succubus Affection was that the levels didn't have life and affect the protagonist in any way like FOBS did. Since Shiro No Yakata is a horror game it'll most likely be more focused on gimmiks so the level design should be more important. I can't wait to see how it turns out.
 
@TheUnsaid Shiro no Yakata needs to connect its mechanical concepts to the maps, I agree. But in terms of the sex, I'd actually say that the bizarre designs being used for some monster sex scenes lend the whole thing a very unsettling tone of its own. Something that goes into a direction I feel has only ever been implied in games (or strongly implied in the case of Agony). If Ansala and Zell manage to build upon that, then these sexual encounters can work as actual game over sequences.

What I wonder is how far Zell can take this before "weirdest fap of the week" turns into "squick". It's still a porn game, as I understand it, but if the sex itself is becoming so grotesque that players will actively avoid it, where is the drive? Because of this very specific niché, I can't help but wonder how much satisfaction the gameplay itself can carry.

This is why I inherently agree with Ansala's viewpoint, that the horror is going to be dilute in comparison.

This game in particular was beyond special in it's design and now it's turning into "haha spooky succubus, fuck her before she gets you" type of thing? 2020 truly is the worst year.

They never said that. From my understanding, Zell is still the one telling how he want his game to be while Ansala does the programming.

Anyway, what I'm most looking forward to is that it's now confirmed enemies will have patrol AI, with schedule & all!
Feels like the proper upgrade to monstergirls being stuck in a single room, serving as a gimmick puzzle.

I mean... that's a bit of an exagerration. We had literally no information about what the gameplay would actually be like. Zell never reached a point in designing SnY where we had an idea of what kind of game he was making.

I think the horror theme is the identity of the game. I doubt the protagonist will initiate sex with them in that type of way.
Also the latest demo that was a Zell only work was 1/3 male assertive and 2/3 female assertive.

Mushroom girl was missionary.
Boob Golemn was male assertive paizuri.
Prison girl was doggystyle.

When it comes to sexual content, only early Zell focused more on female assertive sex over male assertive. He's been doing a more even split for quite a while now.

That's an exaggeration. We really don't know what the full game's gonna be like. I think it's best to keep your excitement or disappointment in check.
When the game comes out, try to evaluate it objectively and decide whether or not it deserves your money.
It probably will. It's not like there's many games to play, especially in this genre.

EDIT: If you want more games like this though you have two options at the moment.
1) Poring's Castle of Temptation.
Castle of Temptation is a fantastic game, that's being developed in english, chinese and japanese.
It's got the same tone as Shiro No Yakata, in that the protagonist is extremely weak in ability, and it's not focused on combat.
Most of the design comes from the level design and it has horror elements. It also relies on unique gimmiks to breath individuality in the enemies and levels.

Castle of Temptation is also 99% female assertive, with high resolution pixel art. Great overall sound design as well.

2) Kredyn's Drain Mansion
This one probably wears it's inspiration on its sleeve. It's basically just a fan of SnY tired of waiting for SnY making his own game.
It's got the same mentality of keeping the protagonist weak and incapable as they escape monsters. This time it's only succubi though.

Drain Mansion is also 99% female assertive.

Animation and sound design isn't on the same level as SnY, but he's making good progress at least.

Seems like this is just move left and then right to me. Could be wrong though.

I wouldn't claim 99% since there are several dolls and the glory-hole butt you heal with, plus the succubi waiting for you before the boss areas in the safe rooms; also a lot of the maid scenes are male initiated, but it is dominately female assertive.

I'll need to check this one out, though. I love castle of Temptation and Zell's works, and was looking for more.

More importantly he announces that this is the final version he releases through his support plan because of his joint venture regarding the game.
So yeah, let's see how that'll work out. I'm not very optimistic.

New version only adds one extra scene from what i could tell.
Two frog/kappa looking monster ladies. They see you and give chase. Nothing particularly special except your intro friend is there too.

Oh that's actually kinda interesting, does your friend get caught during the chase or not?

It's a lot less interesting than it sounds, but he's
tied up (I think) and about to get sex'd. If you wait, it happens and if you get caught you're tied up as well next to him with the same sort of fate.
 
Got a little extra to add. They're called "Sahagin" according to a quick translation of the monster list on the ci-en.

Spoilers ahead. Obviously.

If you hang around and wait, your friend will get raped by the two sahagin and they'll take turns with him. The one not "occupied" with your friend will chase you if you get too close, and you'll get a respective scene with the sahagin that caught you while your friend is raped next to you.

With that said, they feel a little unfinished. When one girl lets the other take a turn, they'll have a big cumbelly but it'll not be visible during their walking/running animations.

Curious, this probably means there will be multiple moments in the game where you can "lose" your friend or if you can manage to keep him till the end (since I assume he won't be kicking anymore if he gets caught once..)
