Re: Random movie talky stuff.
How to Train your Dragon actually was quite good in 3D. I think it just might be easier to do that 3D stuff with animation... but I could be wrong. I just tend to find that 3D animated movies look better than their live action counter parts.
Went and saw that Act of Valor movie. Pretty good, I really enjoyed it. My only real complaint is that using soldiers instead of actors was painfully obvious during the non-action scenes. To me anyway. I enjoyed the movie, but they pressed on the family and fighting for freedom a bit too much to not predict what'll happen by the end of the movie (I guessed the ending within 5 minutes and was right).
However, the actual operation sequences were very well done, and seeing as that is the pull of the movie, they hit the nail very well.
In the end it is a love letter to the American armed forces (with a shout out to soldiers in other nations as well at the end. Yay!) which I can certainly appreciate, but I know a lot of people who either won't care about the message outside the operations, will be openly hostile, or simply not understand.
