Who cares if wesker is dead, with the entire planet covered in zombies and mutants and whatever story they were trying very poorly to tell done with, now they can just focus on showing us kickass monsters and fights.

Terminator salvation is retarded, i doesn't make sense that jhon conner has to save his dad, because that just means that his dad will go back in time and have a kid with sara, which will be john WHICH MEANS HE WILL JUST HAVE TO SAVE HIS DAD TO SEND HIM BACK, AGAIN AND AGAIN WTF POINTLESS FILM

It's called causality. When time travel is involved things get complicated. In order for the future to happen the way it's supposed to his father HAS to be sent back in time to impregnate his mother. Or John wouldn't be alive to save him in the future and send him back in time.

I know it's convaluted story-telling device, I can't really find anything describing it even though it's been used quite a few times before. The closest thing is a

It all sounds like shit science to me. Even one of the terminators says nothing can be changed.

Huh? It's all from a kinda crappy 80's sci-fi action movie as far as I know. Why would any of the science make sense?

I believe it's called a causal loop, or a stable time loop. I may be wrong.

I believe it's bullshit and wouldn't work that way but people imagine it would because they are self centered instead of universally centered.

Re: Random movie talky stuff.

So it all started when I was re-watching a fan video for Xandria's "Vampire" song. I knew where pretty much all of the clips came from except these ones with this pretty dark haired vampire floating around in the mist. It was really grinding my gears that I didn't know where that clip came from, so I spent like an hour searching to find out. When I finally found what movie it was, it's called "Lesbian Vampire Killers." I'm like AH! WHAT? A porn movie? What is this? I'm pretty much thinking it must be awful, but I decided to try it out anyway.

It turns out that the movie is a silly British slapstick comedy. I found it on the internet and was able to watch the whole thing this afternoon. It's definitely not winning any awards or anything, but I got more than a few giggles out of it. I thought it was really cute and kinda fun. *shrugs.*

While I was searching, I found another movie from the 60s that looks promising too. Mmm.. vampires..

Just got back from watching The Lorax in theaters. It was pretty good. Also, the Onceler had quite the pimpin' getup about halfway through the movie.

I had my eyes set on "How to train your dragon" for a while now, as I love dragons and the story seemed intriguing to me. So when I had some spare change, I decided to order the DVD from amazon, together with Super.

I wasn't prepared for how much I like it. As a matter of fact, it pretty much instantly earned its place among my favourite movies. I'm not a supporter of the 3D trend in any way, shape or form, but I'd give a leg for seeing it on a big screen in 3D.

Re: Random movie talky stuff.

How to Train your Dragon actually was quite good in 3D. I think it just might be easier to do that 3D stuff with animation... but I could be wrong. I just tend to find that 3D animated movies look better than their live action counter parts.

Went and saw that Act of Valor movie. Pretty good, I really enjoyed it. My only real complaint is that using soldiers instead of actors was painfully obvious during the non-action scenes. To me anyway. I enjoyed the movie, but they pressed on the family and fighting for freedom a bit too much to not predict what'll happen by the end of the movie (I guessed the ending within 5 minutes and was right).

However, the actual operation sequences were very well done, and seeing as that is the pull of the movie, they hit the nail very well.

In the end it is a love letter to the American armed forces (with a shout out to soldiers in other nations as well at the end. Yay!) which I can certainly appreciate, but I know a lot of people who either won't care about the message outside the operations, will be openly hostile, or simply not understand.

Still, glad to hear from someone who saw the movie *and* served on how well they handled it. Not sure if I'll get around to seeing it, but still glad to hear it did a good job.

Re: Random movie talky stuff.

So, I got my Sci-Fi blog in my email today and I had a head-desking moment of, yet again "Dear Hollywood, stop raping my childhood, thanks!"

I will give the blog author points for a well-presented study (best word I can think of) on the matter.

And then I felt slightly better in reading this.

I particularly like the ideas in the comments about the "villain" in the sequel.

Re: Random movie talky stuff.

This is how you defeat micheal bay and his marketing tool (calling something what it is not), tell everyone what the product he is trying to sell actually is.

I was never what you might call a "fan" of TMNT, even though I did enjoy watching the cartoons as a child. Still, this is irksome I do not like being sold a fudgesickle only to open the wrapper and find it is a popsickle.

Edit: Almost forgot, saw John Carter the other day and I highly recommend it. I was expecting something different, but was pleasently surprised when I found out it was a mix of sci-fi with a bit of conan-style swords and sorcery in it.

Re: Random movie talky stuff.

There is a nine hour edit of all the five marvel movies prior to the Avengers floating around in a torrent. It is all of the movies happening in chronological order. This means that It's mostly all Captain America and Iron Man, and then Iron Man 2, Thor, and the Hulk run through each other. It really helps the pacing issues IM2 had, and helps Thor's romance feel somewhat less forced. Also, it's a nine hour marathon if you're into that sort of thing.

I just saw this for Snow White and the Hunstsman and it looks freaking amazing. I can't wait to get my little paws on those tickets . . . in June.

Eh, I just can't shake the obvious Tween Porn vibe that movie gives off. Or the Twilight vibe, which is the king of Tween Porn. Still, it could be good...but after that Red Riding Hood movie....yeah.

In related news, I decided I'm not interested in the Hunger Games. Sure, it could be a good movie, but I heard there's a lot of shaky cam, the main thing that ruined Batman Begins for me. I hate shaky cam in excess.
