i mustve dissappointed people at some point in the past, because a lot of these patreons come out of no where and get lots of support because of how starry eyed the people sound, even my own patrons arent very vocal about what they want me to do. i get maybe 3 comments on posts tops and i have those 3 people on skype...

I do but it's also not announced yet... it's an investigative game in which the player needs to seek out new game overs because the character retains the information over each playthrough. she has to foil an illegal sex slave trade...

. I sometimes (and only sometimes) get a comment (from the auto poll) from people who stop pledging xD. When they don't even comment i'm left wondering what do we did wrong? 
For whatever it's worth, I wouldn't feel discouraged about this or assume that you did something wrong. In my experience, the vast majority of backers are completely silent. This has stayed true for me regardless of growth - I don't know if that changes when you reach the truly successful tier. But if you look at projects like Breeding Season, they definitely get a lot of comments, but it's not as proportionally many more as you might think, when you consider the sheer number of patrons.ikr
I'm hoping as i get better at art and at spriting more people will come to support me... sd quest got nailed with a bug i couldnt fix that doesnt occur on my pc without save files... but it's nice that it shows chibi h games can work. im wondering when i'll get to do chibi's again... i mean, im considering using them for the character portraits of this bad end collecting game but do proper cgs for the smut...think people would be open to that? (also apologies if this is getting too off topic)
Well yeah i (should say we) try not to get discouraged and keep on focusing on making the game. But when you see the *thing* is not going as expected and then this kind of stuff (people stop the support without an apparent reason) happens then sometimes is hard not to be a little discouraged. But yeah i get the point that is hard for people to be "commenting" on everything
You may want to look at more reactions to Akabur's work. From what I've seen, chibis combined with full CGs will get a mixed reception. Some people like them just as much, some don't mind so long as there are CGs, some hate them. That's the only western example I can think of off-hand, and it may not be relevant since that's a different audience than you'd be trying to draw with an all-chibi game.
You may be interested to know that Patreon compiled all accounts' exit survey data a while back. 58% of backers leaving a project did so because of their personal financial situation, and the second highest reason was "I only intended to pledge for a limited time" at 19%. Also yeah i can't be more grateful on those who are supporting me or supported at any time. It's just that sometimes you expect some input on why something didn't like. When something likes it's easy to just give a fav/like to the post itself but when you don't like something and you're supporting it maybe would be a good idea to share what you don't like to see if something can be made to *fix* that.
Do you know, by chance, if the poll was on a voluntary basis ?
Well, I don't know everything about their methodology and I can't say for sure there couldn't be confounding factors like that.
