I'm just happy with my 30 something patrons...its more subscribers than my partner has on youtube anyway

im doing okay, but not brilliantly though this year i was £400 short of having to pay national insurance payments (but still not real tax since thats like £12k now)

i mustve dissappointed people at some point in the past, because a lot of these patreons come out of no where and get lots of support because of how starry eyed the people sound, even my own patrons arent very vocal about what they want me to do. i get maybe 3 comments on posts tops and i have those 3 people on skype...

i havent announced it or anything but im currently making the mechanics i need for a cowgirl platformer (shes trying not to get milked), today i added screenshake, the whip attack, moving platforms, and conveyer belts. hopefully I can think of something interesting to do with it, because deepground didnt really hit home with people...

(it started as a practise to improve my sprites)

I checked your demo folder on mega, and it's pretty impressive. Do you have any major projects going on?

About people reaction, I know the feeling, but oh well... It all boils down to game's setting, PR and blind luck.

I dubbed a little into tabletop games and found same picture there: a really good and interesting game can be left forgotten in a favor of pretty meh creations. Like it was with minions boom. People just bought every box with yellow ugly-cute creatures on it, regardless of the content inside.

I dubbed a little into tabletop games and found same picture there: a really good and interesting game can be left forgotten in a favor of pretty meh creations. Like it was with minions boom. People just bought every box with yellow ugly-cute creatures on it, regardless of the content inside.

I do but it's also not announced yet... it's an investigative game in which the player needs to seek out new game overs because the character retains the information over each playthrough. she has to foil an illegal sex slave trade...
this ones gonna take a while cause i'm not doing it my usual way and actually getting the town built first (rpgmaker)

it was an idea i had because people were complaining about having to lose to everything in gor games to find all the content, so i figured hey, flip it on its head, make that how you advance... like you might follow one path and find out a password for something, but you then get caught where you shouldnt be and get a bad end...but now you know that password so you can go use it.

this is what i have for the cowgirl game so far in terms of mechanics

ikr . I sometimes (and only sometimes) get a comment (from the auto poll) from people who stop pledging xD. When they don't even comment i'm left wondering what do we did wrong?

For whatever it's worth, I wouldn't feel discouraged about this or assume that you did something wrong. In my experience, the vast majority of backers are completely silent. This has stayed true for me regardless of growth - I don't know if that changes when you reach the truly successful tier. But if you look at projects like Breeding Season, they definitely get a lot of comments, but it's not as proportionally many more as you might think, when you consider the sheer number of patrons.

However many backers you have, they're still giving you money every month/project - I think that speaks volumes. So I'd say keep making the kind of games you like. ^-^

I'm hoping as i get better at art and at spriting more people will come to support me... sd quest got nailed with a bug i couldnt fix that doesnt occur on my pc without save files... but it's nice that it shows chibi h games can work. im wondering when i'll get to do chibi's again... i mean, im considering using them for the character portraits of this bad end collecting game but do proper cgs for the smut...think people would be open to that? (also apologies if this is getting too off topic)

Well yeah i (should say we) try not to get discouraged and keep on focusing on making the game. But when you see the *thing* is not going as expected and then this kind of stuff (people stop the support without an apparent reason) happens then sometimes is hard not to be a little discouraged. But yeah i get the point that is hard for people to be "commenting" on everything

Also yeah i can't be more grateful on those who are supporting me or supported at any time. It's just that sometimes you expect some input on why something didn't like. When something likes it's easy to just give a fav/like to the post itself but when you don't like something and you're supporting it maybe would be a good idea to share what you don't like to see if something can be made to *fix* that.

You may want to look at more reactions to Akabur's work. From what I've seen, chibis combined with full CGs will get a mixed reception. Some people like them just as much, some don't mind so long as there are CGs, some hate them. That's the only western example I can think of off-hand, and it may not be relevant since that's a different audience than you'd be trying to draw with an all-chibi game.

Unless you see some clear patterns in your own exit surveys, it's likely the same factors are at play.

Unless you see some clear patterns in your own exit surveys, it's likely the same factors are at play.

Do you know, by chance, if the poll was on a voluntary basis ?
If not, chances are high some guys simply selected the "personal financial situation" so they wont have to answer even more questions.

Even then, i'd completely agree with what you said - dont be discouraged, guys.
Keep making what you want to make =)

Well, I don't know everything about their methodology and I can't say for sure there couldn't be confounding factors like that.

However, there are at least a few factors that I think make that interpretation less likely: the exit survey is only a single question long, there's an ignore button, and the financial situation choice is a ways down the list. If not wanting to fill out a survey was a major factor, I'd expect to see a lot more ignored responses.

The Booty Island one has potential. Although more work has been given to the map and battle system than the quests and scenes. It seems like this game was made and now we have to fit all the quests into this big world. There are incomplete quests all over the place. It is certainly a new way to go about it. But in the end, people aren't looking for the next dragon quest game they downloaded it because they wanted to see porn. The special effects during the scene with the prostitute are quite unique, nice sound effects also. I want to see what the next update will bring.
