Chapter 5 Home is where the Heart is (Ubberific) GMed by ranger

Re: Chapter 5 Home is where the Heart is (Ubberific) GMed by ranger

Heading down the black street Rikke found all sort of armor and weapons on display. Nothing however stood up saying buy me. She did however notice that one of the smiths was not your typical overly muscled bearded man. The tallest woman she had ever seen, well besides giant Rikke sat hamming away at red hot sword. Standing clearly a head or two taller than herself she was well built her pale skin streaked with dirt and sweat. Her frazzled red hair tied back with a cloth heat covering her head and holding her hair down. Looking at the wares on display Rikke found them the less numerous but of higher quality, with detailed etching in the crolian style.

"Impressive." Rikke spoke up as she looked over some of the blades and steel armor "Shame I've already a good blade and steel armor just doesn't suit my style. Too restricting and unyieldy for acrobatics." the rogue looked to the smith with a smile. Perhaps she'd know where the girl could find a leatherworker of similar caliber!

Clearly the smith knew her craft well enough, perhaps she knew of a similarly leagued artisan!

Re: Chapter 5 Home is where the Heart is (Ubberific) GMed by ranger

The woman eyed Rikke and snorted. "You've seen the wrong steel armor then. Banging away the woman stopped a moment before hefting a breastplate of dubious protective nature and tossed it at Rikke. The item easily traveled threw the air its metal shimmering. The ach was high and easy to catch though it looked heavy. Just as it began to dip from its peak the smith spoke up. "You let it get a ding you'll have to pay for it." The armor sparkled in the light. For a moment time stood still. Rikke could easily catch this armor no doubt about it, but did she really want to give the woman the satisfaction?

Catch
Rikke quickly took out her hands not wanting to pay for what was likly a pricy object. As the armor struck her grasp however she found it impossibly light.

No Catch
Not playhing the woman't game Rikke watched it sail up and down crashing with dull klang on the ground. Looking at the armor Rikke expected a damaging dent only to be surprised at the cracked stone near the impact sight. The only damage to the armor being a bit of dirt obscuring its finish.

Rikke would indeed catch the armor piece, yet indeed found it... strangely light? Moreso due to the girls preparation of it being far heavier! "Eh?" she'd blink lightly lifting the item up and down in disbelief "Wow... whats it made of?" she'd pull it back and look over the piece.

Re: Chapter 5 Home is where the Heart is (Ubberific) GMed by ranger

"I call it true steel. My old mentor taught me the secrets of forging it. Sadly its very rare." Turning to Rikke the woman awaited her evaluation before speaking again. "If your looking for leather however just down the road is a young man who is a wiz with it.

Re: Chapter 5 Home is where the Heart is (Ubberific) GMed by ranger

Rikke would look over the steel "Hum... Do you do... reinforcements?" she'd smile and throw the steel back to the smith "Even light steel just isn't my style, its far too loud for what I do." the rogue gave the smith a wink "Though some reinforcements on the shoulder, gloves and boots wouldn't go astray."

Not to mention, Rikke always had more than one weapon up her sleeves... her charming and quite eye-catching looks! Clad in steel the girl would certainly lose out on one of her most reliable tricks and secret weapons!

Still seemed to get the armor she was looking for, she'd need to check in with the stranger leatheworking the smith directed her to.

Re: Chapter 5 Home is where the Heart is (Ubberific) GMed by ranger

The woman looked at Rikke and spoke. "I do but not with the true steel. Its far to rare to be wasted on mere reinforcements." Getting what she would from the smith Rikke would move down the road to the leather worker. What she found was an intresting sight to say the least. No tanning racks lay scattered about only display racks holding various non-armor looking leather garments form skirts to dresses and even pants. Inside sat furniture covered in fine leather of all sorts of colors and textures. Off to one corner after Rikke passed some rather knee and mid cafe leather boots did actual armor make an appearance. All of it looked well crafted but of older styling the area of the shop seemed to be the least traveled. Even then as she looked closer the armor cuts where perfect though not the style she favored, but the skill and craftsmanship could easily master any she had seen before.

Well perhaps it was for the better, the rogue was not exactly all that well-off in regards to gold. Atleast not well-off to buy the exceptionally rare metal...

With the Blacksmiths directions it didn't take the rogue long to find the shop, her eyes quickly looking over the tailored pieces on display! Oddly enough coming from the smithy seems the rogue encountered the opposite here! None of these pieces seemed all that fit for combat!

Still these would be a solid base for her to reinforce, albeit all of them appeared so modest and humble! With such skill however, surely the crafstman could... "Hello~" Rikke called out to look for the owner of the place, beaming them a bright smile as she'd rush over "Do you do custom orders? Including fittings." the leatherworker had the skills to make it, Rikke just had to convince him to put his talents to a kit that was slightly more out of the ordinary!

Re: Chapter 5 Home is where the Heart is (Ubberific) GMed by ranger

As she called out Rikke head a slight scuffle as a young very effeminate man came up to her. "Oh gurl what can Janswa get you today humm? A nice leather bodice for those perky girls. Or maybe a sheik set of leather pants. Just let Janswa know honey." The mans? voice was high and nasally and his posture and movements seemed odd to say the least. Explaining what she wanted the man stood up straight and waved his hand in the air departing yelling. "ALEX YOU HAVE A CUSTOMER!" A moment later a young woman dirty from work came from around the corner and greeted Rikke she was short with mousy brown hair her head only reaching Rikke's breasts. Getting to business after she explained what she wanted the girl soon had her measurements. "Okay Miss what kinda of leather do you want. The soft subtle stuff or the harder kind. The soft stuff is for sneaking and what not but takes more care to keep oiled and such the hard stuff is strong but can be noisy.

Rikke smiled... and froze up as the 'man' appeared. This was the leather master? Seemingly images of a rugged mountain-grown man or an expert southern charmer poofed one after the other with each word 'Janswa' spoke "Ah... ah... well I was wondering about custom... orders?" the rogue utter unsurely with a cold sweat bed rolling down her face and her dreams of leatherworkers crushed.

Still seemed 'Jan' worked his magic with the leathers, while the orders were worked over by his 'partner', somehow the rogue suspected in business only... "Well I'll need it to be flexible, I tend to do a lot of acrobatics." the rogue smiled kindly "Don't want the leather to rip when I kick or restrain my movements." instead of picking out the leathers on her own, the rogue shared what she intended the outfit to do... including "As for the chest, I quite like it a bit.. revealing." the girl smiled innocently "Something comfy and sexy, have to enhance those charms somehow, right?" she'd wink to Alex.

"I need to it be able to weather some use. I can do some maitenance, but if it's too high up there it'll probably not survive long." hopefully the leather masters would know just the thing the rogue needed... otherwise she'd certainly be in a pickle!

Alex smiled and nodded. "I got just the thing! Be back in a moment." Heading back Rikke was left standing in the shop when she heard a shout. "Janswa! I need you to help me make my armor slutty!" Soon enough Janswa walked by Rikke his hips swaying looking rather annoyed. After a moment Alex came back with a slight drawing that accented all of Rikke's curves in the right places. Next to the main drawing was another. As Rikke looked it over Alex spoke up. "Its an extra piece that attaches to the main for when you know your gonna be in a fight."

Re: Chapter 5 Home is where the Heart is (Ubberific) GMed by ranger

Rikke smiled as she could all too clearly tell a perfect idea struck Alex! She knew this was the right place! The girl would wait patiently for the leatherworkers to discuss, only to hear how 'Janswa' was beckoned! She didn't have to put it like that! The outfit was for combat!.... well... it was also for combat, not just the looks.

It wouldn't be long, before Rikke was presented with a rough draft of the girls idea. It appeared to be a quite simple piece, though it certainly didn't shy away from showing skin! "And these are?" the rogue would point out to the nearby alternatives only to find out that the leather 'armor' could be modded to actually do what it was meant to do!

"Ah~! That would be perfect!" Rikke grinned happily as she leaned out from the concept piece! "When could you have it ready?"

Re: Chapter 5 Home is where the Heart is (Ubberific) GMed by ranger

Well I do have the time no one is buying right now so its just been personal projects. Give me a few days and Ill need you to come back tomorrow for a fitting. We wouldn't it to pinch you. If you move strangely.

With that Rikke was free though she would be with out proper armor for a few days. Still it seemed she had completed all her major tasks and was free to do as she would.

Re: Chapter 5 Home is where the Heart is (Ubberific) GMed by ranger

Rikke beamed a smile to the leatherworked and had but one final question "So~ How much is this going to cost me?" the girl asked cheerfully... though it was likely the answer would freeze her expression in place, in an almost unnatural manner "A-alright, I'll bring the gold over once its done! See you!"

Once outside Rikke would quickly rush to count how much gold she had! She did have some savings, but... she wasn't planning for such a purchase! If the girl didn't quite have enough it'd be time to improvise! With a nod and a smile, she'd head out to find the local bulletin board for any potential jobs she could do to earn some gold.

If she had more than enough however, the rogue was free to continue to a much more serious topic.. of finding out more about the beast that prowled the streets. Her best spot to find out more - the guard HQ, no doubt there were posting, bounties or information on the beast there! Or well... someone she could ask of such things.

Re: Chapter 5 Home is where the Heart is (Ubberific) GMed by ranger

"Custom work... fine leathers...." the girl turned to jot some things down before showing Rikke a price tag of 30 gold! Nodding Rikke left with a wink and a smile only once she was out of sight to check her pockets. Besides the girls money for the new place she had what ever she managed to loot from the Shrine of the Spring Goddess as Red had taken what she had from before for losing his golden scimitar.

Shaking her head it was off to the guard HQ. Here she found a rather boring building squat and painted white. Outside sat a few off duty guardsmen drinking or smoking pipes. Nearby a sign sat with various missing persons listed with descriptions. One offical note did mention payment for leads to the night beast.

Re: Chapter 5 Home is where the Heart is (Ubberific) GMed by ranger

Rikke wouldn't touch the girls coin... And after calculating the rest, the rogue found... she was short?! Unless the girl was keen to skip meals, she'd need to earn some gold! Around ten pieces at the very least, while around twenty ideally!

Worse yet, she'd have but a few days to do it! Still surely she could find some way to earn it! Rikke smiled to herself in clear confidence and after a brief look around would head to check for any oddjobs around the town.

Coincidentally however seemed the job postings and the guard HQ shared the same building! Meaning she could hit two birds with one stone! With a smile soon enough the beauty entered the otherwise dreary guard house, its grim colors absolutely clashing and almost highlighting the buxom adventurer that stepped inside.

First the girl would check the local job postings or calls for adventurers, before asking someone inside who she could ask to learn more about the beast.

Re: Chapter 5 Home is where the Heart is (Ubberific) GMed by ranger

Any questions about the beast she saw the other day were quickly and curtly avoided or discarded. It seemed that the guard was keeping this one close to their chest. Rikke couldn't blame them really after all at least one of their own had fallen to the beast. Still other posting on the board where promising.

Looking for exotic dancer

Fencing tutor requested (real combat experience please)

Reward 100 denari for the capture of the rogue who ruined my silks! (this one seemed new)

Bounty Evans the Snake Milkeye: Dead or alive 200 denari. Wanted for rape, murder, theft, illicit activities with goats, arson, disorderly conduct, and urination in the public fountains.

Re: Chapter 5 Home is where the Heart is (Ubberific) GMed by ranger

Rikke looked over the postings and the four that seemed to stand out, well the girl wasn't that certain of her dancing abilities... and while being a tutor was rewarding on its own, it lacked the spice the rogue craved for! Which left the mysterious scissor rogue and the bounty hunt!

While finding the stranger who Rikke somehow imagined ran around with scissors and cut-up any silks they encountered did prove tempting... An old fashioned bounty hunt could be just the thing! Not to mention the reward was certainly quite delightful!

Taking the bounty posting she'd look it over and head to the guard staff about more information, where she could find leads on the Snake... or Milkeye... or Milkeyed Snake!

Re: Chapter 5 Home is where the Heart is (Ubberific) GMed by ranger

Bringing up the poster the guardsman looked her over and raised an eyebrow questioningly. Still if she persisted the Lt. would tell her that their last lead was in a warehouse near the docks by the old Salty Spice inn. With that he wished her good luck unless she had more questions to ask.

After a brief briefing Rikke would find the old inn quite easily. It was a run down place its paint chipping and fading. It was all boarded up preventing anyone from looking inside. Next to it was several warehouses. Most seemed to be in use but another worn one just behind the inn looked utterly abandoned. A few shoremen walked to and from the warehouses loading carts.

Re: Chapter 5 Home is where the Heart is (Ubberific) GMed by ranger

Bounty notice in hand, Rikke would head to the guard Lt. and hand him the notice looking for more information on the job. The guard seemed to lazily look over the notice, blinked and then looked over Rikke... then the notice again and again back to the quite luscious adventurer "You... The first thing here... He's..." Rikke turned her head curiously as the guard wanted to say something, but flatout didn't "What?" the girl blinked, but soon enough with the guard sighing deeply he'd share what he knew.

The Salty Spice inn! Rikke thanked the guard and would head out to town and quickly turn to finding the spot. Though as she wandered around seemingly by sheer luck she'd spot one of the Ladys crew out on a shopping run! Catching up to them the rogue would explain that the pouch, whose contents the rogue did not mention, is to be returned to the Magic girls onboard... as well as a quick note Rikke would write out. With the potential housing location!

Relieved from the burden of carrying someone else quite hefty savings, Rikke sighed happily and just by sheer luck noticed an old and rickety building down near the docks.

Heading up closer, soon enough the whole 'glory' of the rickety, paint-peeling, boarded up inn came into view! What was THIS place... Rikke winced at the thought of even entering the den of scum and villainy, only to note the partly torn off plate reading 'The Salty Spice'... Oh no...

Well perhaps it was prettier on the inside! Besides the rogue dealt with rowdy bunches before! Bracing for the worst, the girl took a light breath and approached the place, moments later pushing the doors aside with some confidence. If she was going to find her bounty, this was the place!
