Chapter 5 Home is where the Heart is (Ubberific) GMed by ranger

Re: Chapter 5 Home is where the Heart is (Ubberific) GMed by ranger

"Yes waiting for you. I've sensed your presence for a few days now." Listening to Rikke's other question. "Most mortals cannot hear it but the wind whispers your name." Turning to face Rikke the woman took on a more serious face. "He seeks to absorb my power as he has done with others of the reborn. I would merely be another stepping stone in his route to... Just as she was about to speak the woman turned and raised her hand letting loose a blast of arcane power. Following the path Rikke saw her target the posses swordsman had found them. With a deftness unmatched in Rikke's experience he quickly cut the arcane bolt in twain. "Run Rikke! you are no match for him." All around her arcane circles began to form eaching sending out bolts of arcane energy. Curiously a pair of men walking by the ally didn't at all seem to notice the crazy light display going on around them.

Re: Chapter 5 Home is where the Heart is (Ubberific) GMed by ranger

Rikke blinked as the mage attention seemed to sudden shift to the side and a shadowy figure standing there... even in broad daylight it seemed the very shadows had darkened and twisted around the visage to hide most of its features. Though as soon as the mage cried out for a retreat, Rikke quickly gathered who the creepy dark figure was!

Though just as Rikke looked on to the figure and the brilliant arcane bolts flying towards it, in a seeming instant that even the rogues trained eyes strained to stop the creature seemed to let loose a pair of swings cutting the bolts in two, a dark and crimson trail following the now seen yet equally shadow-veiled blade!

Cut in two, each bolt seemed to split and shatter into numerous wispy lights... Rikke had never seen magic be destroyed in such a manner! Yet the girl hardly paused to marvel, as she'd rush after her newfound ally! "You mean he can appear mid-day as well?!" it was curious the cursed one was not a more prominent and lingering threat!

Still as the duo rushed away, surprisingly the mage or her magic did not draw any attention? It was a mystery saved for later, as they had to lead the creature away from the simple folk incase it cut them down in its pursuit! "Lets split up!"

Re: Chapter 5 Home is where the Heart is (Ubberific) GMed by ranger

Retreat didn't seem to be on the mages mind as she calmly stepped back bringing up arcane barriers and blast that kept the swordsmen at bay. "Run Rikke he wouldn't be here unless he has help!" Rikke was no coward nor was she prone to leaving friends or others to fight by themselves especially against dark blood crazed monsters. Turning on her heel Rikke was about reengage when four wickedly curved swords came slashing down. Thankfully she managed to dodge them and see that a new foe had entered the fight.

Before her elevated by a slimy glinting snake tail was a man with four arms each with scales slowly creeping up its arms only stopping at the elbow. Each arm held a nasty curved blade made to easily slice flesh from bone. These arms where attached to well muscled body covered in tattered garish noble garb. Looking up the twisted visage of Milkeye faced her. "Pretty meat fore the master!"

Re: Chapter 5 Home is where the Heart is (Ubberific) GMed by ranger

Rikke quickly turned to aid the mages retreat only for a glint of sun, sparkling off an incoming blade to catch the girls eye?! Reacting just in time the rogue saw not one, but FOUR curves blades aim for her! Still with the girls quick reflexes she'd dodge and roll right out of the way, before turning to see her opponents!... or well opponent?

The rogue blinked as the creature seemed to reveal its form right infront of the girl, it's scaly humanoid body extending and two... three... four?! hands spreading out, each one pair clanging its curved blade as if to show it off!

Rikke had never seen a creature like this! As it appeared as the strange amalgamation of human and snake extended before her with a hiss and slithering voice finishing off the goosebump-inducing sight!

Though just as the rogue was about to say something in her shock... it got even worse?! As its now shifted face was that of "Milkeye?" the girl blinked in sheer surprise pausing only for the creature to hiss out its masters command! Quickly spurring Rikke to put up her guard! "What happened to you?!" the girl expected a creep and a dark man, but this thing was something else entirely!

For a moment the horrid beast before her stunned Rikke but once the scything blades began to lash out at her she quickly found her pace though it did cost her a glancing blow. Thankfully it did little harm. Losing focus in this fight would be problematic her foe could unless any number of assaults on her person if she wasn't careful and it seemed the rain of blows prevented her from finding a decent opening to counter.

Re: Chapter 5 Home is where the Heart is (Ubberific) GMed by ranger

Rikke looked on to the monstrosity only for it's arms to shift and suddenly let loose an onslaught of blows! Thankfully the girls agility and skill quickly allowed Beauty to deflect blow after speeding blow, yet with the four arms upon her attacking from every angle counter-attacking or exploiting a weakness would prove fatal!

As the sparks flew out, Milkeye... or the creature now named Milkeye still managed a light glancing blow! Subtly ripping the shoulder of the heroines quite light outfit, consisting of little more than a simple open shirt, her bra and her leather pants! While light on defense it seemed to absolutely not restrain the rogue agility as proven just moments before!

"N-not a talker eh..." Rikke caught her breath and footing, before with sharp eyes charging into a counter-attack!

Simple blade dance!

On her feet and ready to fight Rikke proved far to dexterous an opponent quickly slipping past the monsters guard and rending to bright slashes across his skin. This seemed to enrage the beast as he soon struck Rikke with all four blades. Reeling back from the strike it took all her might not to be overwhelmed with the quadruple set of blade coming precariously close to her face. Still this over extending let Rikke slip to the side sending the massive bulk of the monster tumbling away from her allowing a quick stab of her blade. The creature recovered quickly but was much the worse for it.

Re: Chapter 5 Home is where the Heart is (Ubberific) GMed by ranger

Whatever humanity Milkeye may had seemed all too gone now, as the rogue fought the beast! Still, the rogue was far from a simple wanderer as she'd not only parry the previous sheer flurry of blows she'd rush forward with a smile right at the monstrous being and let loose two elegant strikes in exceptional succession! The blows and positioning more akin to strokes of a brilliant dance... especially when compared to Milkeye!

With her blow landed, Rikke quickly turned to the creature as enraged it seemed to lash out wildly and as it let loose a quad slash with all its might! Yet the rogue seemed more akin to leaf in the wind, as the force came only sparks flew out as the major blow of the impact slid along the girls blade who had ducked beneath!

As the sweeping winds were about to blow her back, Rikke still managed to add a single slash, before she rode the wind and landed on her feet some distance away from her target, the impact blowback carrying her away relatively unharmed!

She still had it! Rikke smiled slyly "So~ Milkeye, what was that about pretty meat?" the girls confidence and even slight cockyness was clear to see as she'd lower her guard cheekily "Perhaps your ugly meat self should just give up." though once provoked, the beasts clumsy attack would be all too easy to see...

Rikke uses Show of Skill.
If successful, next turn use Blade Dance

Clearly Rikke was the better duelist. The mutated man before her was no way a threat to her. Smirking she prepared for the next attack. It would all be too easy. She had seen his strength and power, now she can use it against him. However as Milkeye loomed over her he lashed out in a set of four careful attacks. Each one easily parried but not letting the rogue push her own plan into motion.

Re: Chapter 5 Home is where the Heart is (Ubberific) GMed by ranger

Rikke expected a lashing out from the beast and indeed it came! With a quick swing of her blade, the girl blew the beasts sword-arm back... and while against any other opponent it would give her an all too easy opening the rogues eyes almost in slow-motion widened as three more successive blows came from the other three hands!

With a clanging of steel, Rikke quickly parried the blows as she'd be pushed back, before getting her footing once again! This was no simple duel against a sword user afterall!

"Fine... here I come!" she had to end this quickly! The girl would now go on the offensive! Her blade leaving brilliant streaks across the horrid beasts scaled body!

[Blade dance!

Once more Rikke let loose to perfect strikes though this time Milkeye seemed a bit more prepared for them. His sinuous body dodging enough to make sure the wounds where not fatal. Still the loss of blood was beginning to tell as his next furry of attacks was easily parried by Rikke.

Rikke's eyes sharpened now was the time. The next attack would undoubtedly fell the beast. Making ready Rikke was about to slash when a huge arcane explosion echoed from behind her. A flare of bright light nearly blinded her vision as a dark figure went tumbling threw the air his blade trailing its crimson tendrils like misting blood. The figure collided with Milkeye and the duo landed on the street digging a huge gouge down the alley. Blinking to clear her eyesight Rikke felt a hand touch her shoulder before a sense of weightlessness filled her and she found herself on the docks once more with a clearly exhausted Emila who promptly collpased oozing blood from a fresh wound on her side.

Re: Chapter 5 Home is where the Heart is (Ubberific) GMed by ranger

Outmatched. The rogue seemed to be at her absolute peak, as the dreading battle became almost trivial?! Her strikes once again slicing perfectly, each one leaving a brilliant streak of white and each one making the otherwise quite towering creature step back!

"Come on~ Come on!" Rikke called out with a beaming smile as she'd rush towards the beast pushing it back even more, its strikes almost desperate as they assaulted the girl who seemed to have the beast in palm of her hand! Enough so that as the creature unleashed a flurry of almost blind strikes in hope to atleast nick the girl... it would look to empty air.

Only once it turned left and then right would it directly look to the cheekily smiling heroine! As incredible as it seemed Milkeye did not even attempt an attack as he recoiled back in fear from the beautiful and relatively unarmored girl... if there was ever a show of Rikke being far from ordinary, this was it!... or perhaps a show of imperfect mutations the poor sod went through.

Whatever the case may be, the rogue would draw her blade and point it towards Milkeye "Sorry big guy, but I'll need to take you in." Rikke smirked slyly "For the goats sakes." she'd wink slyly and just as she rushed to deliver the final disabling strike, a figure seemed to crash into milkeye sending him and it into a nearby alley! A dark trail of red hinting at who it was!

Rikke blinked and just at that moment she felt a friendly hand grasp her as moments later the scenery seemed to shift and leave Rikke elsewhere? Only upon looking around would the rogue note the mage nearby, who'd collapse moments later "Hey! Hey! Emila!" the rogue caught the girl mid-fall... feeling something warm and wet on one of her hands as she did so 'Blood!' a fright rushed through her "Hey! Emilia! Emilia!" Rikke called out to the girl who unfortunately seemed unconscious and quickly picked the girl up to carry in her hands!

Even if the girls first thought was the lady, unfortunately it may have not been docked yet! If indeed the ship was missing and noone appeared nearby to ask where she could find some proper medics, the girl would rush to the only place that she knew... even if it was not a good one - the Salty tavern from before!

Kicking the door open she'd call out "I need a medic! She's been stabbed!"

Indeed the Glory had yet to dock and at first no one seemed to notice them until Emila passed out. All around her started gasps echoed out as well as a few cries of where in the hells did they come from. Ignoring the clearly stunned crowd Rikke moved to the only place where she might get some help. Kicking the door open brought a beam of light right into the gloom of the Tavern. The chorus of who the hell was quickly drowned out by the girls cry. At first no one moved to assist until the working girls's eyes finally adjusted. "Quickly now to the back room!" The older girl took charge while she directed the younger one to the door.

Following the woman Rikke was surprised to see how clean the back of the bar was. It seems while the outer surface was left to crime and muck that the actual place the girls lived was fairly well maintained, at least as well as a whore's pay would allow. Bringing the Emilia to the bed the woman pulled off the robes gasping as she did so. "St. Emila?" Still the girl only paused a moment before looking at the wound. The slash itself was clean not jagged, however the flesh near the cut had started to turn black. "... She's not bleeding anymore are we too late?" Indeed Rikke looked and the blood had stopped flowing however her keen eye quickly noticed the wound was smaller than when she had first seen it.

Re: Chapter 5 Home is where the Heart is (Ubberific) GMed by ranger

Rikke just knew that the tavern had to have atleast some experience with such injuries... somehow the place struck her where booze and pent-up anger oftentimes lead to some unfortunate brawls! Besides the company did seem nice, even if they were a little ruffled and rough on the outside.

"Thanks!' the girl beamed the woman a smile and with her guidance soon enough took the injured girl to the backrooms! Even if the injury was a dash nasty, it did appear to have... healed? "No. Treat the wound, she's only just now been stabbed!" the rogue wouldn't let the woman lose focus as she'd aid and urge her on to treat the wound.

No doubt the girls own magic was aiding her restoration, but a bit of basic healing would certainly only aid her own efforts!

Re: Chapter 5 Home is where the Heart is (Ubberific) GMed by ranger

Getting back to work the woman quickly produced some thread and a needle as well as a clear bottle of liquid and with little time to prep she began to stitch the wound closed after dousing the wound with what Rikke could only describe as a strong alcohol. Threw all this the woman didn't make a sound though she kept breathing steady and strong. After a few minutes and a makeshift bandage later the working girl leaned back and took a swig of the liquid before heading back to the front.

Re: Chapter 5 Home is where the Heart is (Ubberific) GMed by ranger

Rikke would help out what she could... even if seeing the needle did make her a tad-bit woozy. Experienced or not, some things one NEVER gets used to! Still as the final stiching was done, the woman would pour the liquid on the are to disinfect it, before taking a swig of it herself as her task was done!

"Wait!" Rikke rushed closer with a gentle smile and caught the woman by her shoulder carefully "Thank you, truthfully." the girl would give her a nod, as she certainly owed the stranger now... the stranger who certainly seemed to know far more about medicine than she ever let on!

Re: Chapter 5 Home is where the Heart is (Ubberific) GMed by ranger

The woman would simply nod and head back out leaving Rikke with her unconscious friend. For a moment Rikke stood there until a noise behind her caused her turn around sharply. Here she found Emilia sitting up pulling out the stitches from a now completely healed wound. "That was unpleasant, where are we?"

Re: Chapter 5 Home is where the Heart is (Ubberific) GMed by ranger

"m?!" Rikke was about to attempt to rush and lie the girl back down, before she noted the injured... had all but vanished entirely? If the rogue had any doubts about the magical potency of the stranger, they were long since gone now.

"Er... you don't wanna know." Rikke smiled sheepishly as she approached the stranger "I think it's the Salty Spittoon or something." the would look over Emilia once again "You alright? Looked like the Beast got you good."

Re: Chapter 5 Home is where the Heart is (Ubberific) GMed by ranger

"The.. what?" Emilia thought a moment. "Oh the Salty Spice. Not the best place to hid out in. The patrons can be kinda questionable at best. No doubt we've already been ratted out or will be soon. Come on lets go and do not worry about the wound this one was only minor you should have seen the first one he landed a few weeks back." Standing up the girl made a quick jester in the air before a blue portal opened up revealing a peaceful country side and a small cottage. Stepping threw Emilia awaited Rikke on the other side.

Re: Chapter 5 Home is where the Heart is (Ubberific) GMed by ranger

Rikke shrugged cutely "Well... they're perverts, rundown, most are likely drunk and others just generally unpleasant... But I don't think they'd work with a creature that spews darkness and eats people." the girl beamed a smile to Emilia trying to lighten up the mood slightly.

It would not be long, before Emilia seemed to absolutely back to her full strength? Clearly the mage had a healing factor Rikke had not encountered, before... not to mention she had been recognised previously as a saint? With the mage having the rogues interest and curiousity, Rikke didn't even think twice, before cautiously peeking through the portal and stepping inside!
