I apologize for not engaging with news in this thread as often--I tend to only really post on ULMF when someone asks direct questions, or when a new game version comes out and it's time to address it directly. Since this thread stagnated for so long, I basically just dropped out of ULMF.
The big TF news right now is that there is about to be a legitimate English version of the game which is uncensored, brought to you by Sekai Project and the very same people who have always been by the community's side working unofficially. So expect a game that's everything the unofficial patches were, but a heck of a lot more polished. I'm super proud of it and I can't wait for people to get their hands on it.
In JP TF news, Ray is currently working on version 2.0.0, the biggest release since the first version launched back in 2015. Every single art asset is being redrawn almost entirely from scratch in order to improve Sylvie's design consistency. For instance, her trademark monster claws in the sitting position are now going to be actual hands! Also being added are more CGs for early-game stuff (such as the sickness event), a whole new save system, and a bunch of under-the-hood improvements that go along with updating the core Tyrano engine to the current version. However, this also means that all old save files will no longer be compatible with 2.0.0. Right now Ray is uncertain when this work will be finished, but he's shooting for July.
As for your question about how the official English version will be distributed, I do not have an answer for that. It's highly likely that I will find out at the same time you all do, but if for some reason I find out first I'll be sure to let you all know.
