Re: Games Discussion Thread

I fucking loved the .hack series, a shame I never completed the third game, my save data got corrupt and I lost the will to start over from the beginning.

And Koldelka? Do you mean ? It's a fucking win game, again its a shame I never completed it. I only got to the second disc, but I do plan on buying it at some point. What impressed me though is that it's set in Wales, in a town called which is only a few hours drive from where I live.
I've beaten the original series (all 4 discs...having surgery and being stuck on a couch for a month and a half helped with that.), not to mention G.U. as well. I won't spoil anything in GU, but there's a scene that hit me as hard, if not harder, than Aerith and Sephiroth. It was at the end of the second game and it was "Holy shit I need game 3 NOW!" Although I can see how having corrupted data'll do that. The notion of starting over really does suck the will out of you, I agree.

And yes, Koudelka. And it's fun when you've got a point of reference in a game, isn't it? I haven't actually started it. I like to do series all at once and I'm lacking Shadow Hearts, uh, 3, I think. (Did that with Wild Arms, up to 3, since 4 wasn't out yet.)

Mmm Fallout. Got 1 and 2 for the comp in a bundle and I've been asked why I haven't started that one yet. Now that I've got my PS3, I might give 3 and Oblivion a shot, since I know my POS computer won't handle them, heh.

Re: Games Discussion Thread

Symphonia 2 is...uuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuh... I dunno how to put it. Mediocre is the word that comes to mind. It feels like it was just kind of taped onto the first game. Only Colette and Presea and Kratos (in a small cameo aside from the narration, but only after beating the game once) have their original voice actors returning. I will say that Colette is SUPER ADORABLE this time around. The new voice actors are okay, save for Sheena and Zelos being completly ruined. Tenebrae is easily the best new character though. I have a bone to pick with the way ToS2's difficulty curve works, but I'll save that for another post or somethin'.
I completely disagree. ToS2 didn't have the epic feel that the first one did, but it was still a gripping story, just with focus on the characterization rather than the storyline itself. It's a different kind of cake, but it's still damn good (although not quite as good, I'll admit).

I found Colette EVEN MORE ANNOYING, and I didn't think that was even POSSIBLE.

Sheena was ruined??? She sounded three years older than she was - which is exactly what she was supposed to sound like. Zelos I'll agree with, but if you really want to give an example of who was ruined, try LLOYD. GOD every time I heard him I wanted to shoot myself in the face.

Also... difficulty curve? What difficulty? Even on hard the whole game was easy except for that one fight with.... um... that one guy, with the cutscene with dual Lloyds. The one who's in love with Alice. Deccus I think his name was?

I'll agree that Tenebrae's character addition was the best; his dry, sarcastic wit was a source of never-ending entertainment. Emil I didn't really mind, loved Alice, loved Deccus, loved Marta, and even though Richter's character was tired and overdone he still managed to be cool. I wish they had made the other spirits their own characters like they did with Tenebrae. And most of the reason ToS2 was not as good as it should have been was because they were developing Tales of Vesperia for the xblock at the same time, and gave ToS2 huge budget cuts in order to make ToV as best as they could. Pure hilarity that they actually sold more copies of the Wii game.

Whereas I have finished 2 and own From the New World; barely played it due to other distractions, and really really want to play the first game for obvious reasons. It appears to me that #3 is set in the same word, but is basically a new series; there doesn't seem to be many characters from the second, and the ones I do know of were minor ones.

Warning: Serious spoiler; do not open unless you've either already played Shadow Hearts 2 or never intend to (Which you should if you like good RPGs)
If I find out they brought Yuri back, I will be most displeased.

Also, love your avatar copper; was not too long ago playing that and it's so true. I more or less gave up when I realised I was kinda only playing for Balthier's dialogue.

Britain (and I assume Europe in general) didn't get G.U., probably because it most likely didn't sell well over here. But I've seen the anime series (the one set before the events of the game) and I'm planning on reading the manga so it's not too bad that we didn't get it.

I've only completed Wild Arms 1, lent it off a friend and used the item duplication glitch to max out everyone's stats XD Legaia was a good series, though the first game was hard as nails, I haven't completed it yet though I'm at the last boss on the second game but my friend had his game back.

Personally I've been enjoying FO1 more than I enjoyed FO3, though that's probably because I prefer games like FO1 than FO3. I did have Oblivion for the PC, worked well enough but I hated the godawful key setup and setting it up on a 360 controller was a bitch to do. I always kept accidentally attacking people when I was using a keyboard so when I went to Cardiff last Saturday I traded it in with a few other games and picked up Oblivion GoTY, Viva Pinata, Fable 2 and Bioshock for the 360. Unfortunately Fable 2 doesn't work so I'll have to take it back. But thats the risk I take when buying a preowned game.

Balthier is made of sex and win. Period.

I also hate when I can't find pictures I know exist but didn't save at the time. I've seen one of Basch, Balthier, and Vaan standing together and the caption is "Leading men" with an arrow drawn to Vaan "Except this guy." I will continue my search later, when I don't have to be to work in fifteen minutes.

Also, on the Shadow Hearts note: *avoids spoiler* Still, if it's a series, I still like to do them all together, even if they're barely connected with one another. Again, back to Wild Arms for that one.

I dont know why most people didn't like FF12, its one of my favourites. Sure Vaan was pretty much unneeded for the game but it was still awesome.

Re: Games Discussion Thread

I think maybe the dislike stems from the more "online game" type feel of it, but I dunno. Me, I liked it. As my one friend put it, it was *great* to be able to see and avoid the monsters if you didn't want to get into a fight. Admittedly, the action selection/charging took a little getting used to. When I see a monster on screen and I'm controlling a character in real time, my intial reaction is to hit the attack buttons, not "select attack, let it charge, select again." Gambits were handy. The storyline was engaging and didn't focus on one particular character. Sexy hot men (and Vaan). Fran's ass. Gorgeous world. Kickass cutscenes. Fran's ass. Angst. Twists. Androgyneous kids. Fran's ass. What's not to like?

I really hope they bring the PS3 version of Tales of Vesperia here to NA. More content, more shit and plus I get to use a better controller (Xbox controller is FUCKING HORRIBLE for games that aren't FPS)

Probably. But then again, I could be wrong, and something could be wrong with -me- for liking her.

Although to be honest, there are so many things already wrong with me, it's just safer to assume I'm the one with the problem.

You think you got it bad? I draw porn of furries and jerk off to black futa girls eating shit covered in jizz while singing Rick Roll backwards.

... Okay, that's disgusting. I'm obviously just lying my ass off here, something I seem to be doing quite frequently.. I apologize.

But I do draw furry porn. Gardevoir porn. Because I want to have sex with Gardevoir.

I don't think Gardevoir is technically furry. Better call an expert, though.

Anyone know where Oni is?

Eh, Fran never really did it for me. I mean, I love the Welsh accent and all, but I just... dunno. Not sure why, but I was always rather "meh" about her.

Dusty, am I blind? I haven't seen your work,
Why haven't I seen it, is there some place I need to lurk?
Could you be so kind as to show us your scribbles?
Just pretend you can't hear our dribbles.

I mostly put that because it's a running joke between a friend and I that no matter how I had my party configed (Basch, Balthier, and Fran, usually), whenever they were running, Fran would wind up in the back. Thus whenever I'd stop...screenful of Fran's ass.

Does that make her a Welsh Rarebit? *snicker*

I might not be Oni, but I consider myself an expert on porn in general..At least the drawn porn.

Gardevoir is either bestiality or furry.

As pokemon are animals, gardevoir is an animal. It's a pokemon, fucking a gardevoir without changing anything about it means fucking a pokemon. Meaning, bestiality.

Pokemorphs(anthropomorphic pokemon) are humanoid versions of pokemon. As pokemon are animals, humanoid versions of them are furry. Thus, having sex with a gardevoir pokemorph is furry sex.

Gardevoir is a (Sort of)unique case though, as the original already is humanoid, but it's also clearly a pokemon. Therefore I conclude that gardevoir is a furry, and gardevoir porn is furry porn.

Re: Games Discussion Thread

Picked up Army of Two: The 40th Day last week. While I enjoyed the first one if I played it split screen with a friend, I'm actually able to enjoy this one alone, which is a huge improvement. The weapon customization is actually customization this time around, rather than simply upgrading, as it was in the first game. I didn't just buy the next part I unlocked because it was better, I actually had to take a look and determine if it would help me out for the way I played. Also amusing is the fact that I can put AK-47 parts on my M4.

They didn't shove the "This is a co-op game" in your face as much. I've only seen the "back-to-back" element come up twice, and I'm nearly finished.

The violence is a little more graphic. While that doesn't make it a better game, I get a little more satisfaction from sniping when a guy's head actually explodes.

The storyline isn't much, but the little side sequences that result from the "moral choices" you make actually expanded the game. Every time you make one of these moral choices the result of your decision plays out in a comic book style. The other thing that was interesting about these decisions was that you would get paid to do the "bad thing", and get no reward for doing the good thing. But something that seemed so black and white at first can turn much darker. I chose to save a woman from being raped by a Russian Mercenary who was trying to bribe me to let him do whatever he wanted. I stopped him, and the woman turned out to be a Russian assassin who promptly went about hunting down that mercenary's family, including his child.

Anyway, the game, while nothing amazing, is a fairly solid shooter. Some aiming gimmicks are annoying due to the third person camera, but after buying a scope that issue was resolved (scopes operate in first person). Nothing really stands out as being new, but all in all it is a solid game that's quite enjoyable.

GFDGDSAGHYFRTDGSDEGFDGVDAFS GARDEVOIR IS NOT FURRY!

I do normally have an argument to counter you, but I'm frazzled from work and in no mood to have an internet argument. But basically Gardevoir is a greay area on that topic; People accept her being either furry or a monster girl, in the end its up to the viewer to categorise her how they want. Me? I view her as being a monster girl. On a note about Pokemorph's; They aren't necessarily ALWAYS furry. There are Pokemorph's that are more human than Pokemon (think like a cat-girl, tail and ears but nothing else), and they wouldn't be considered furry.
