VN/TEXT [Pykrete Blue] Survive or Succumb - A post-apocalyptic text RPG.

Re: Survive or Succumb - A post-apocalyptic text RPG.

Hmm... Four, I believe.

Losing to the Gate Whorcs, the boss to the north
Losing to the optional boss in Vik's 3rd quest (both routes, also a consensual version of the same bad end becomes available after abusing a scene made available in the evil route)
Losing to a Puddin Worm when the PC has enough corruption and a slim enough body (or if they're below a certain height. Gremlins, your curviness will not save you.)
Losing to an Anubrain at least 3 times, then running out of intelligence. (currently broken to always happen on the 3rd loss in this currently available build, will update soon.

I like bad ends. More will come. Probably some 'do something of questionable judgement' ones instead of purely 'lose to X'.

Re: Survive or Succumb - A post-apocalyptic text RPG.

Updated to 0.5.1.

Changelog;
<b>0.5.1 - 27/10/2016.</b>
Most items can now be scrapped, or sold. Scrapping requires a workbench. Selling requires a willing buyer.
Under-the-counter scene with Zero, if Nina's quest is fulfilled by letting her do as she pleases.

Fixed a looping issue in Zero's shop, post Nina's quest.
Fixed a minor error flag in Nina's quest.
Fixed a scripting error that was halting crafting from beginning, causing menu hangs.
Fixed a minor formatting issue with a 'continue' screen in the Warehouse Shutters.
Cooldowns in combat now reset after combat ends.
Can no longer sell items to Vik if she's not there.
Fixed a minor error message in a threesome scene.
Libido and Energy now properly show up in the status box.
Shotgun Shell drop rate in Office 3 fixed.
Status Report during combat now displays the PC's energy and libido, as well as their max totals.
Anubrain no longer bad-ends the player when they have intelligence to spare.

Note that previous saves will not work. I'm going to try to keep small updates like this to an absolute minimum.

Re: Survive or Succumb - A post-apocalyptic text RPG.

Is there any way to see corruption level or know when it's increased?

Re: Survive or Succumb - A post-apocalyptic text RPG.

Time to shoot things with a shotgun.

Re: Survive or Succumb - A post-apocalyptic text RPG.

Try checking the character description, by examining with the mirror, through the satchel in the inventory. The last line is a hint as to the character's current corruption level. I'm unsure if I'll keep it as a 'hidden' stat like that, we'll see.

Time to shoot things with a shotgun.

Happy hunting! The ammo drop is quite rare, but you can also craft shotgun shells with 3 or more intelligence now that I've linked everything up.

-=-=-

By the way, feel free to make suggestions, things you wanna see, etc. No matter if it ranges from something small to something big like an idea for a character or a scene; I'll at the very least consider it. Go wild!

My only thoughts are more tentacle scenes/enemies or more level up transformations. I ran out of transformation options after I maxed boob size.

Also does transformation make losing fights easier? I noticed my character kept losing when she still had health to spare.

Re: Survive or Succumb - A post-apocalyptic text RPG.

Losing with health to spare? Hmm... was their libido maxed? Libido works like lust in CoC. If it hits 100, surrender is automatic.

If not, then... this bears further investigation, urgently.

Also, fret not, there will be tentacles. Plenty more.

Re: Survive or Succumb - A post-apocalyptic text RPG.

It could be libido. I'm not sure where to check that stat. But it could very well be maxed or high.

Re: Survive or Succumb - A post-apocalyptic text RPG.

Assuming you're playing the latest version, Libido is in the status bar to the right, under energy.

It's also displayed on the status screen in between turns.

I've got a suggestion with the Anubrain, since it's quite punishing to keep losing Intelligence when you can only gain that by leveling up, I can't help but feel that you're being a little unfair to the player as far as the implementation goes. Instead when you encounter the Anubrain afterwards, why not offer the player a consensual sex scene without worry about loss of Intelligence, while still allowing them the option of fighting him, and if they lose those fights, then that can count towards the counter for losing intelligence.

If you want to make sure the player doesn't keep taking the easy way out then you can have the Anubrain simply take a good deal of scrap or food (and I do mean a lot) from the player each time they agree to the consensual scene. You can also have the counter reset each time they beat an Anubrain (though obviously they wouldn't lose the title if they have it).

Incidentally the MEGA version on your blog is still bugged, even though it's listed as being the 0.51 version, causing you to get the bad end even though you have intelligence to spare.
EDIT: The online version is also still bugged too, you still get that bed ending if you have intelligence to spare.

Re: Survive or Succumb - A post-apocalyptic text RPG.

Bug reports: All of these relate to the offline version 0.5.1 taken from your blog.

A lot of the crafting menu items don't work. I haven't tested all of them, but the Ammo and Special items cannot find their lists:
- Error running script: Error compiling expression 'CraftingList': Unknown object or variable 'CraftingList'

Some of the others, like the small scope, simply do nothing when you click them.

After you finish Nina's quest, if you convince her not to go through with her plan, she continues to ask you for the core if you ask her for work.

When scrolling any piece of the GUI, the main section also scrolls at the same time.

On my screen (res. 1920 * 1080) the text in the main section is visible to either side of the map at the top section. That's all I've found so far.

Honestly, I really want to see the source code to this. Test some ideas, modify some things, fix the bugs, etc. Likely not much would come of it, but I love the setting, and if I could just add a couple of monsters to the Gutter I'd be pleased with myself.

Not a bad idea; I may implement it. At the very least I'll balance the int loss mechanic.

As for the bad end bug, I dunno how I keep missing obvious loopholes in his script... maybe I've been brainwashed already? Fixed, again, I hope.

Aha, thanks for reporting this, I must've missed something out when applying the script to these menus. Fixed now.

Some of the others, like the small scope, simply do nothing when you click them.

Time to delve into the rather bloated modifications page then...
Ah, I see, the small scope's result doesn't match what my if check is looking for. Fixed that. Didn't see any other mismatches, but I did alter Choker's option as it was using 'accuracy' and 'damage' instead of shortening them, stood out like a sore thumb.

After you finish Nina's quest, if you convince her not to go through with her plan, she continues to ask you for the core if you ask her for work.

Is she asking the player to go get the core, or repeatedly saying 'I need it, chop chop' or something to that effect?

Ah, wait, I see the problem! Fixed.

When scrolling any piece of the GUI, the main section also scrolls at the same time.

Don't think I can do much about that, unfortunately.

On my screen (res. 1920 * 1080) the text in the main section is visible to either side of the map at the top section.
That's all I've found so far.

Yeah, the map's a fucking pain in the ass to modify. I've spent more than one solid day trying to get it to either move somewhere else, reshape, or at least fill out that small amount it fails to cover to either side. For now it's low on the list of priorities.

Honestly, I really want to see the source code to this. Test some ideas, modify some things, fix the bugs, etc. Likely not much would come of it, but I love the setting, and if I could just add a couple of monsters to the Gutter I'd be pleased with myself.

I'll PM you.

Re: Survive or Succumb - A post-apocalyptic text RPG.

So, currently, I'm creating a new area to explore, along with expanding some enemies slightly; victory scenes with the player character in a dominant role, for example, have been written for the Whorc and the Puddin Worm.

I've also decided to include a workaround for those who don't enjoy player futa, but don't want to miss out on content. Tech sensory strap-ons, simple as that. Worn as an accessory in their own slot and available to characters without a penis, the PC is treated as if they have one for the purpose of accessing scenes reliant on them. Some NPCs and enemies will make use of them too.

While I'm bumping, I may as well fish for some opinions and thoughts. If anyone takes the time to answer any of these questions, I'd appreciate it; don't feel like you have to answer them all, if indeed any! If you have any feedback or suggestions not covered by these questions, of course feel free to voice them.

What kind of content do you want to see more of?

What kind of content do you personally not care much for?

Is the game interesting as a game, and not just a porn delivery mechanism?

Who is your favourite enemy?

Who is your favourite NPC?

Do you think this is an improvement over the simple CYOA gamebooks?

Re: Survive or Succumb - A post-apocalyptic text RPG.

Game's great, loving it so far. As for content suggestions: as much gradual corruption of NPCs as you can possibly cram in. It's the absolute best thing.

Tentacle, futanari, and beast are probably the fetishes I most like seeing. I know you said beast was out, but so far the game is lacking tentacles unless you count the pudding worm. Some kind of slime encounter or something related to size play (very large enemy/cock) would be neat too.

Pudding worm and Anubrain are probably my favorite enemies, but any enemy that doesn't have sex like most humanoids is what interests me. The wasp/bee boss is also a good enemy just because it has choices and is a tough fight.

Nina is probably my favorite NPC. She's laid back (about love and partners too) and has a cute and sexy description along with a more dominant personality/sexuality (but not too dominant, like Rokolo)
I also like Vik's sister (wow can't remember her name) because she's the only fighting companion type NPC and I like her sense of loyalty.

As far as content I don't care for, these isn't a lot. I like a lot about the game. I guess my only problem is the friendly NPCs you meet randomly while scavenging and offer you goods in exchange for a blowjob. Even though it's a random encounter with a random NPC, the way the text is worded makes you think they might show up as a unique NPC/companion later which isn't what currently happens in the game.

I also dislike how decisive the decision to either be futa or not have a dick is, but it sounds like you're working on that with the implementation of the tech-dick thing.

Like I said before, I'm enjoying the different aspects of the game beyond just a porn delivery system. And thats coming from someone who usually just holds the skip button for adult VN's/games. As far as the previous CYOA's you've done, this game is a substantial improvement in terms of customization, story, NPCs, combat and replay value.

Hm. I think that was all the questions. Like I said before, I'm looking forward to the next game release and new content.

Stuff like that's probably a long ways off, but it'll probably happen at some point.

Well... tentacles are probably my favourite, obviously futa is plentiful in this setting and while beastiality is out, monsters with beastial features like the Anu aren't. So, good news for you. Actually finished writing 2 tentacle based enemies recently for the new zone - one of which is tentacle -and- futa.

Pudding worm and Anubrain are probably my favorite enemies, but any enemy that doesn't have sex like most humanoids is what interests me. The wasp/bee boss is also a good enemy just because it has choices and is a tough fight.

Cool, good to know. Puddin Worm's probably my favourite too, in this build anyway.

That would be Rizz. Companion NPCS would be interesting; a hell of a lot of work and plenty of opportunities for things to go wrong, but... maybe someday.

Even though it's a random encounter with a random NPC, the way the text is worded makes you think they might show up as a unique NPC/companion later which isn't what currently happens in the game.

That encounter is something I had a play around with to see how well such large variations to a single scene could help its replayability. I'm curious what people think of it, actually.

I also dislike how decisive the decision to either be futa or not have a dick is, but it sounds like you're working on that with the implementation of the tech-dick thing.

Yeah, I plan to rectify that with that workaround. I hope it's a nice middle ground for people who can't stand futa, and, of course, people who just don't particular want a dick on their character/playthrough. Plus... can collect different types!

Hey, just trying it now and it's good :).

I'm pretty much like all that's here, I have some personal preferances (would love some BDSM/spanking with the stronger NPCs :) as it goes with some NPCs attitues, but it's all good. Also can be used as modifications to scenes depending on how they come about (see below).

Only general point I'd have is it would be nice to have variations in the scenes. A differents between just surrendering and going through combat (that would make them mad heh).

It can be a problem as things branch out quickly and add up to lots of writing for one NPC, but if you're going to be passing through and talking with the same NPCs/Monsters it really helps.

But with the more open world, repeat encounter that are different depending on the situation works well (quest resolution, failure, body changes etc.). In that way I really like these games vs CYOA

Good luck with the project, looking forward to more. Cheers.

2. cons sex - futa - furry
3. interesting .. yeah..
4. worm?

BDSM stuff's on the way, as you might have guessed from the Cultist's unique starting attire. There actually are variations like that, but the majority of them are quite subtle, at the moment. An example includes losing to the alleyway Whorcs when you had enough money to pay their toll; a comment is made about it.

It can be a problem as things branch out quickly and add up to lots of writing for one NPC, but if you're going to be passing through and talking with the same NPCs/Monsters it really helps.

Agreed.

Persistent encounters, more complex enemies and the like, are a definite planned feature. 'Named' enemies who remember you and such. Glad you're enjoying it so far!

Beastiality is out as mentioned, but monstrous enemies aren't, not are - I suppose, 'less than humanoid' enemies, provided they possess intelligence.

Furry is something I plan on avoiding for the most part. Futa, on the other hand, isn't going anywhere.

Thanks for your feedback!

Re: Survive or Succumb - A post-apocalyptic text RPG.

Unfortunately it seems like the Concubine scene might be broken for the Insekta boss. I select the option, but it doesn't provide any more prompts to advance the text after I do so, and thus I can't actually continue the scene/game.
