Wait I'm honestly confused how this is questionable. It's a metric ass ton of work and passion doesn't fill the belly for the amount of time he'd use doing it.

I'm not saying that he should ask for money specifically. I'm saying that since he's working for free there should be no expectation that he should follow through completely.

Kind of like how scanlators for manga don't finish some manga because life happens or they lose interest in the manga.

It's not like anyone is paying him to work on it, so referring to it as Dargoths job isn't really fair. Leaving for a few months is perfectly fine.

It's great that people have banded together to try and finish it up though. The discord guys did a great job!

The thing is that this is a project lots of people want to see completed - if Dargoth were to step away from the project, someone else will pick it up. This is doubly true for Dargoth, as there is already a team helping with the project; he can almost certainly name someone who would do it. Moreover, it would be very easy for someone to step in and take over for him, because he's put translation files up on the bitbucket. Everything he's done has made it extremely easy for him to step away from the project cleanly. Not only is there no shame in stepping away, but it's not even like his work would be wasted - he has already performed the absolute best practices for someone who might want to step away from this sort of project!

If Dargoth says he will perform a task and then doesn't do it, then nobody is going to step in and do it, and the project may realistically not get done.

As for part 3, if it's as ambitious as TTR claims, then I would say wait until June before we hear anything. A "bigger than the last two" statement is generally reflective of an intent to exceed a combination of the two.

If we're gonna strawman our positions, over 200 countries with a fractional 1/10 people writing a novel, hoping maybe one day they'll get published. So, those people working their asses off, spending hours in front of a typewriter or computer screen, trying to make something half-decent, they deserve less patience than a guy with a semi-committed team trying to translate a porn game? Perspective helps, friend. Here's some.

Anyone with any semblance of integrity is going to stick to it, or, barring their ability to do so, will do their best to make sure that the project is completed otherwise. Again, a strawman. From what I know, if a manga gets dropped by the translation team, they'll either pass it off to another team, or explain their reasoning and leave their work for others to pick up if the interest exists. It's not just a simple "I don't feel like it" thing, either. Scanlation teams have backlogs full of manga they need to translate on a weekly basis. They're overworked, underpaid (lol), and utterly swamped with requests before Monday. Most of the work is typesetting, too.

I'm sure they do. But, I worked my ass off to publish my first novel and, following criticism, took it off amazon and decided to step back and only drum up hype when I felt I could commit to it completely. I'm now working from all angles, what with a temp company, putting hours into my novel, asking people to critique it, doing side stuff on other forums, and all while having other commitments. I don't know Dargoth's situation because he never espoused about it, and I respect him for that. Often, those who play the "pity me" or "have patience because x" card either have ulterior motives, or just want to make excuses.

He can be bored if he wants. He can decide if he's just not interested in putting in the hours this week, and that's fine. I don't get where you think I'm haphazardly calling for Dargoth to be bullied or hung for failing to work at some rate nobody set. Those of us with a bone to pick about the progress aren't impatient or entitled. We waited about a year for most of part 1 to be done, and he could only manage 70% at best? And then part 2 dropped, and TTR made it clear prior to part 1 that all 3 parts could be merged. Well, la-dee-da, Dargoth somehow didn't prepare for this and had to go back and make time-consuming adjustments that delayed his work further. Now, almost a year later, and the only thing keeping progress from slowing any further is a lack of news on part 3's release.

Gonna go with "what is lack of time management and allocating duties for maximum efficiency" for $500, Alec.

Dargoth didn't just start 2 months ago. He's been at this almost 2 years. He's had more than enough time, a significantly-greater amount of bodies committed to the task than Rogue on his own. Hell, from what I recall, Rogue even helped a bit. Whether he got frustrated and fucked off (likely), or explained that he was only putting in some work to help accelerate things, I can't say. What I do know is it took the team a long time to become this cohesive, and they did have a list of priorities with story being at the top. I don't know how much of that has changed, or if Dargoth is even still attached to this project except in name. I do know that this is probably going to be a grace period for them with TTR not yet releasing any info on the third part, and they should be knuckling-down in anticipation for the worst.

To quote another man known for his harsh criticism and tendency to drop f-bombs while saving restaurants and producing some of the world's best chefs, "For all those snowflakes out there. Okay so this pretty much cements the idea that we probably won't be getting Part 3 until Q4 2019, for the best case scenario. But I'm starting to think at this point it's likely it won't come out until 2020. Personally it's killing to me think we probably have another whole year to wait, especially since it's already felt so long. But I guess if we're getting something that's roughly the size of Part 1&2 combined, then I suppose it should feel worth the wait once it's finally out.
