ULMF Minecraft Server (Address can be found on first post)

Re: ULMF Minecraft Server (Address can be found on first post)

I'm up for the tower building. It's pretty much what I did for my castle in the old world - only bigger, and with more towers.

Re: ULMF Minecraft Server (Address can be found on first post)

Hmm, the plains are... suitably massive. XD

May I inquire about an alternative build area - water area perhaps? Minimal ground required, doesn't haven't to be deep waters, just a block or two, limits the number of offensive mobs spawning nearby, and is something I've not tried before.

If we can find a Ocean biome, it'd be great. Simply build a island upward via Gold Helmet diving.

There's always floating islands too. Admins can fly, right? Simply have one of em build the starting point, then everyone adds to it as we go. Having it over a ocean would even make sence there.

But that would limit the height we could build to. I think we should find a swamp biome - they are shallow enough - and go from there... as there is a big cave system under the plains. So it's either deal with it and build in the plains, or find a swamp.

Re: ULMF Minecraft Server (Address can be found on first post)

There is an ocean biome to the east of the hill town, just past Bart and Oni's Blocky arena (with awesome 7 section displays!). I've already got the start of a tower there that goes down to bedrock, but doesn't break the surface yet. It was going to be a cool lone spire thing, but if people would rather build in the water, that's fine too.

I have just looked at the plains Rule found, and they're pretty expansive, as Dragon said, there's also a village nearby as well. I don't have a preference over where the tower town is built myself, but if you did want to do floating islands, I can do that too. But like Rule said, that would limit heights.

Re: ULMF Minecraft Server (Address can be found on first post)

Woot. :3

For the island homes - we can build under it, ala having half a tower going up and half down? I think that would be very interesting, especially having it over a deep ocean.

Anyhoo, personally I'd prefer to leave the open plains and other space-plenty grounds for low structure/wide village sites, perhaps this spire could be turned into a semi-natural mountain, for where the towers are built upon?

I'd love that, and with plenty of dirt and stone...

Re: ULMF Minecraft Server (Address can be found on first post)

Hmmm... I could give that a try. Would prefer to wait for everyone's decision first of course though.

Re: ULMF Minecraft Server (Address can be found on first post)

Of course! With your permission and all blah blah.

Spouting out ideas.

Re: ULMF Minecraft Server (Address can be found on first post)

Hm. One reason I ventured out was to find something a bit away from the other projects, so it's not all in one spot and make it seem overloaded (like, let's be honest, the Old World spawn area was).

Re: ULMF Minecraft Server (Address can be found on first post)

Double post, but relevant to the project:
I found a swamp that's far enough away from the spawn area. It is, however, across the plains from Lurker's Fortress and would take a bit of work - lowering islands and such. Again, the teleporter can be found in my lair. I've also provided some in-game directions to the plains (as people were confused).

Oh god, it's infecting Minecraft too!

Modification Consideration

Flan's World War II guns.

Is bukkit compatible.

I'm assuming there are several good reasons why this should NOT be put in.
(The biggest of which is that each client must install support mods.)
But just in case, I'll throw this out here.

Yay or Nay?

I must veto this for this reason. Sorry. I know all the cool mods use clientside modding, but that just won't work for this server.

Re: ULMF Minecraft Server (Address can be found on first post)

That's fair enough. I appreciate the quick response!

Re: ULMF Minecraft Server (Address can be found on first post)

Actually, I just got home... Didn't check the time of your posting. Kinda funny that.

Re: ULMF Minecraft Server (Address can be found on first post)

Alright. I built a road from my house to the central area, starting from the entrance that Sin built in the early goings - the cobblestone gate in the mountain side, not far from the Troll Lair. However, unbeknownst to me, Pie also built a road that connects to that area, near to my (now for sale) cabin. His is prettier, but mine leads to some grade A building land.

Re: ULMF Minecraft Server (Address can be found on first post)

Just making a note that a mountain I had previously claimed, I am now unclaiming. It's the one just past Seregitum's home and the scenic cliff walk, if you start from the mountain town/portal area. It had a small wooden spout sticking out of it with a waterfall for two weeks or so. I decided it wasn't suitable for my intentions after all, removed all my construction, and restored the mountain to how it was before. It's left with a moderate hollowed out area on the inside, which I left empty but lit up.

You might well have never seen the claim signs in the first place, but basically, if you find an odd lit chamber in a mountain, it might be this one. So don't worry about it being owned or anything.

I'm now looking for a flatter and much larger potential location for my cactus factory. '-'

Re: ULMF Minecraft Server (Address can be found on first post)

I'm starting to get interested in this tower building thing, though I may do something on my own...

Re: ULMF Minecraft Server (Address can be found on first post)

Well, I'm ready to start on the tower project at any time, but people haven't gotten back to me about which location they'd prefer. As I said, the swamps need to be worked over, but would be safer in the long run, while the plains are pretty much ready to be built on, but will need more security against enders.
