Re: UnHolY SaNctuaRy

English is the way to go, unless we all decide to retrace it back to the source and everyone starts speaking Latin again.

Re: UnHolY SaNctuaRy

I recall reading somewhere that the top 3 most used language around the world are:
1. English
2. Chinese
3. Japanese

So while it's not THE most wide-spread, it certainly is up there(and the amount of JLPT examinees show they are growing, fast)

"Used" != "Wide-spread". How many people outside of China speak Chinese and use it on a daily basis compared to other languages like German? Or, rather more telling, how many other countries have large Chinese speaking populations? Yeah, tons of Chinese in China speak Chinese, but I'm not really sure it's spoken much anywhere else.

You know, there are LOTS of chinese speaking people outside China. In countries like TAIWAN, SINGAPORE, MALAYSIA, and so on. Even in Thailand, America, Europe and Australia. There are chinese people all over the world, even in Japan -.-

Don't all the chinese speaking people live in china though?

What?
So you're implying all english speaking people lives in England, all Japanese people lives in Japan, all Malay Speaking people lives in Malaysia and so on?

Wiki pages cannot and should not be used as reference of any kind in any kind of debate, since anyone can alter the contents of those pages contained in the wiki database.

That having been said, very nice update, even if a tad better at the difficulty section, can't get past the area where there are many energy-draining, tablet-dropping-once-they-are-hit tentacled/transparent monsters. Do we know how to access dev mode again? :p

Re: UnHolY SaNctuaRy

Heh, the chinese government gave up on trying to keep the reproduction rate low. Now it's just a façade, since many decades ago they have been secretely supporting immigration. The long term plan is to invade and conquer other countries through osmosys!!!

Re: UnHolY SaNctuaRy

During the time the thread went slightly off topic, looks like the username and password authentication has been removed, however the previous warning still stands and re-added to the 1st blog post, although rephrased.

※ゲームファイルの他サイト、フォーラムへの転載は禁止します。子の警告に従わない場合、海外IPの遮断を行います。

Google Translation
Other game files site ※, reprinted in the forums is prohibited. Failure to comply with warnings of the child, the IP blocking overseas.

Babelfish Translation
* Other than the game file it prohibits the reprint to the sight and the forum. When you do not follow warning the child, it cuts off foreign country IP.

In other words, looks like this is the last warning, if it happens again, the creator is IP blocking everyone.

Re: UnHolY SaNctuaRy

I don't see the actual link to the download on his blog, though, could someone show or describe where to look?

It's not in a very obvious place, I linked to the on where it can be found a bit back, there should be highlighted text in the post that should provide the download to the latest vers.

*Pokes head out* And Queue Xenophobe slapping a link into mega upload to have the ip ban happen. Wouldn't be the first time...then again was some silly post in this thread where people linked anyway....Whee back to lurking.

I speak Chinese. I don't live in China.

That's what the footnotes and external links are there for.

Completely correct.('though by forums he only meant something like 'file hosting'/mirroring.)

(My translation: "Please do not upload/repost the game on another web site or forum. Failure to comply with the warning will result in foreign IPs being blocked off.")

The author was unexpectedly pleased that a lot of the mirrors were taken down soon after he put the authentication restriction in, and he also felt sorry for some of his Japanese fans who were unable to solve the 'riddle'.

Now, I'd be the last to claim that distributing a free game through portals other than the official site doesn't somehow, through some strange telepathy, harm the creator who's giving the game away for free anyway, but something seems awry with his methods. Work with me here:

So, in order to prevent offsite hosting by foreigners, his plan is to make offsite hosting the only way most foreign people can get his game?

Bloody genius, if you ask me.

Well, it's more like this:

(Paraphrased, not an actual translation.)
1) For personal reasons, I ask people not to redistribute my game elsewhere, This is reasonable since I'm offering the game for free anyway.

2) Foreign websites start uploading my games and hosting them elsewhere.

3) I ask them, politely(on my website), to not redistribute my game. Now, they may not understand Japanese, but that doesn't change the fact that I did ask them not to do so, and the burden falls unto them anyway since they must have gotten the game somehow from a Japanese website (mine).

4) They ignore me.

5) (Repeat 3~4)

6) Since the 'foreign' websites do not respect my wishes, which are entirely reasonable considering that I'm offering the game for free, I see no reason why they should continue to enjoy access to further updates to my game.

7) Hence, I'm now restricting access to foreign IPs.

Sounds reasonable.

Now, this may actually force more people into hosting his games elsewhere, but so far it had been working fine. (mirror links had actually been taken down) Hence why the author had removed the restriction for now.

Re: UnHolY SaNctuaRy

It's additionally a problem with people just not understand... in the original post, I said that the author did not wish for people to upload it elsewhere, and people just laughed it off anyway. In fact, originally the second post in this thread was a megaupload link.

Re: UnHolY SaNctuaRy

I think the only reason why people are reuploading the game is because the download link in the blog is a tad difficult to find if you aren't familiar with Japanese, aren't told where exactly where to look or aren't bloody lucky. If they made it a little more obvious....then it wouldn't be a problem most likely.

This line of thinking is all well and good, except that there are too many people who just don't pay attention, or worse, just don't care. It only takes the carelessness of a few to ruin it for everyone.

I mean, I think (and hope) most of the people on this forum respect the wishes of the people who make these games for our enjoyment, but there have been multiple times in this thread where, as LDF stated, people reuploaded download link right after being told not to, especially after the source was restricted for that very reason. A little bit of caution goes a long way, people.

Re: UnHolY SaNctuaRy

The point stands. The only reason the block worked *this* time is because most people are reasonable and they expected the block to be brought back down in exchange for good behavior.

Now, if some other idiot on some other site that has nothing to do with us causes the block to go back up permanently, then that's completely different. In that scenario, respecting the author's wishes gets you nothing except no game, so in that scenario, he shoots himself in the foot in exactly the way I describe.

Stopping illegitimate copies by closing off the only legitimate source is breathtaking in its disassociation between the ends and the means.
