Re: What's your most over-rated game? Most underrated?
I know, it's insane. I almost believe he could have actually made a better movie. I am dangerously close to the idea that Uwe Boll should have been given charge of a movie. The way the the director says he is a long time fan of the games in the making of is laughable. He literally twisted every single character inside out, removed all semblance of the source material, and generally got everything wrong. Even the easy bits, just plain wrong.
An example. Just one, or I be writing a rant all day. Have you seen it? If so do you remember that yellow track suit wearing guy in one of the early fights? He looked kinda like he was meant to be Jann Lee or something, though it turned out he was just some miscellaneous fodder thrown in to briefly lose a fight. Wanna know just who that guy was meant to be? It's obvious isn't it? Hitomi! Apparently in Japan there were a load disappointed that she didn't feature (not sure why), until a production team member leaked that this random guy, was actually meant to be Hitomi. Check the credits and a score board section in the film and you can see the name right there. The director apparently wasn't content reversing personalitys, changing character nationality, removing any hint of personal fighting styles, casting actors twice the age of their characters, or writing the stupidest plot ever. He actually went and switched the gender of the second most popular character, and gave them a 10 second losing sequence.
I just don't get why, practically every game to film conversion seems to deliberately set out to annoy the fans in particular. Why even base it on the game if that's your intention. Just make a generic cheep film without being "confined" by the setting of a game. This fool could have made the same movie, with different names used, and no one would ever notice any similarity to the games.
