Re: Aylia's Story - English H-Game Goodness!

Youre not missing anything, demo was very short. The guy who spent "couple of hours" is either lying or...i have no fucking clue what he was doing.

As for release date of Chapter 1 im not terribly optimistic. I'm guessing late December at the earliest. Its been over a week since the "final edit and polish" was announced and so far only the prologue is finished.
Shut it.

Game creation takes time, especially if you want to release a quality product. This is why the average development time for a game these days is three to four YEARS for the latest games. This shit takes time.

Calm down, sit down, and be patient.

I vote for 100th page, cause it's always so tempting to review everything one more time before releasing =) It doesn't matter, i'll be waiting all the time Yummy needs, i'm highly practiced at waiting - Duke Nukem, DiabloIII, etc, and still hoping to see Unfobidden and Resident Evil:progeny.

He's not wrong tho. The demo is very short. That doesn't mean it's not high quality.

I hope you do realize you're gonna get neg rep from people who hate waiting for free stuff right?

People just hate waiting, especially gamers.
Free or not.
I'm sure a bunch of them would have paid if it reduced the waiting. :D

At least then I know why I'm getting neg rep.

But the fact that it's free should be more incentive to wait. It's not like YT is adding a cost to the game.

The waiting thing isn't quite correct. Gamers can wait; we do so a lot for all forms of media. What we hate is very sudden delays, usually a day or two prior to release.

Usually because there are those of us who schedule time off for these games and, when it doesn't come out, well... It just feels like you wasted vacation time from work.

It may not seem like it, but Patreon has absolutely reduced the waiting already. If I'd not gone part-time in April, I'd be much, much farther from completing this. In fact, I might have just considered cutting a good chunk of content as it was becoming increasingly likely that I'd never finish.

I'll be going full time before the end of the year. I've been setting everything up since around July. I may have to either tweak Patreon pledging or content release plans to achieve it, but we'll see. The development time between chapter 1 and chapter 2 will tell me a lot. If I can get chapter 2 done in 2-3 months, and still keep the quality I want, then I'll be set. If I can't, I may need to aim for slightly smaller releases (maybe 2 releases per chapter instead of 1). As I said, we'll see, and nobody will be charged until they've seen chapter 1.

@Shyao: Free or not, it gets hard to wait for something you really want. I understand that. I remember how crazy I was prior the Witch Trainer's release. Of course, that was a huge letdown for me.

As for playtime, it definitely depends on reading speed and how thorough you are. Around 45 minutes to an hour is what I'd estimate it would take if you read the text. Reading speeds are so variable though.

Finally, things continue to progress. The turtle should be moving again this evening if I get an hour or two to work. If not, I have tomorrow to work and it will move for sure. Not much left to do on day 2.

wtf?
1. "Latest games" are a bit different than simple porn games on Patreon lol.
2. The demo was really short with little content(less than hour).
3. Still it convinced me to become YT's patreon. I would pay for chapter 1 but he wants to release it for free for whatever reason.
4. Im calm as fuck.

do you even know what "latest" games are?

NOTE : im not criticizing YT, im criticizing you for bad choice of words :)

i can wait

as for reading speed, im a fast reader, i read all harry potter series more than twice :), so that maybe why the demo feels really short for me?

i know, i know, im a geek -_-

Re: Aylia's Story - English H-Game Goodness!

The thing is, H-game demos usually have like 20-50 lines of text, 1 scene (if you're lucky) and a Patreon link. 45-60 min is actually pretty long, some full games are shorter than this.

I am preeety sure no one's gonna give you shit about being a geek on a site like this ^^. As for the game, I think we will get it before christmas which is good enough for me :) I don't think we have to talk about the quality here, I am 100% positive it will be awesome, so my hype train is still in full motion :D

Re: Aylia's Story - English H-Game Goodness!

To all guys complaining the wait for H-games is not relative to mainstream games. Ok, fine.

Now, let's take a look at porn game production. Who are the pros? The Japanese guys, they make an actual career out of it.

The Fate Stay Night team? They take years to get shit done. Their last game was released in 2012 and noooothing else happened yet, a Tsukihime remake on limbo since 2008. Same with Clannad studio and some other mainstream folks.

Ok, but these guys write an awful lot of text. Fine.

Then, pick any other studio with actual pure porny games, minimal text. Still months and years of waiting for very short games you'll be done with in one night.

Now, I know more about western releases (Akabur, Pyorgara, Fenoxo, etc) and they are also sloooow to get shit done.

So, either every single guy is terrible at making erotic games or it is the nature of the beast. And I don't really think all of them collectively have no idea what they are doing.

In the interest of shedding some light on adult game development...

1. The mainstream "AAA" games have large teams working on each segment. Very large teams. Ubisoft alone has over 9,000 full-time employees. There's a storyboard department, a programming department, art department, production department, etc. etc.... But the average, indie, English-language, adult game design team? 2-3 people. 4-5 tops. Aylia's Story? One-man team. It actually makes a lot of sense that this game takes so long to develop. Think about it, if a huge company like Ubisoft with 9,000 full-time employees takes 2-3 years to release a title, what makes you think YummyTiger can work any faster?

2. That's kind of what a demo is, isn't it? A short introduction and a bit of playtime to garner interest. Play any mainstream game's "demo" and they're all less than one hour or slightly over.

You really have to empathize with YT's situation. I've been in that position before and it's not very fun trying to do everything yourself, learning some things purely from scratch, dealing with your real-life commitments at the same time, and then have players complaining it's too slow.

So, with all this Fuzz, Yummy couldn't see my question, so I'll allow myself to repost it :p

" How many times will you have to restart the game to see all the CG's " :3

I would be very surprised if that's even answerable yet, past the obvious of "at least 2". IIRC the game is going to have 5 chapters, so it's unlikely that all of the potential scenes in the game have even been thought of yet.

I'm assuming you're talking about seeing all the scenes in chapter 1. In that case, I think if you did everything as efficiently as possible, it would take 4 playthroughs to see everything.

There are essentially two major ways things can split. In rival quests, either the rival wins or Aylia wins.

In the main quests, at this point they tend to diverge in two directions.

In some ways, choice is awesome. But, for completionists, it can be a headache. There is a lot packed into this thing, so it'll take a bit of playing to get it all. That is one of the biggest reasons why I'm trying my damnedest to limit grinding or get rid of it altogether. I want playthroughs to be fun, not a chore. I'll also remind people that there is a gallery with the scenes listed. You can click on scenes you have not found and see something like this:

This way, you at least have an idea of where the missing scene is, but it does not spoil the fun in looking for it.

This is actually an awesome feature that should be mandatory for all H-Games.

What?! 9000?! There's no way that can be right! :D
Seriously though Ubisoft is not only a developer but also a publisher, their teams work on several games simultaneously and most of those 9000 employees have nothing to do with game development. Witcher 3 dev team had about 200 people, Bethesda(Elder Scrolls, Fallout) have a bit over 100 full time employees etc.
Anyway, enough of this offtopic. Im sure Aylia's story will be awesome and YummyTiger has my respect for charging his patrons per major release.
