Ok, I'm a weeaboo at heart,
But I've found that good Animes are few, and far apart,
Therefore I'm making a thread,
To know what I should watch before going to bed.

I'm posting a list, and the list won't be poetry,
But I don't care that much, honestly,
So below are things that have pulled me in,
They're mostly pretty epic and win...

Darker than Black season 1 and 2... Season 1 is a lot better than 2.
Mnemosyne
Elfen Lied
Cowboy Bebop
Death Note
D. Gray man (yes, all of it.)
Airgear
Hellsing
Read or Die

I like my anime like I like my coffee, black with a little sugary twist.
And if you feel I'm missing a lot, then feel free to post your list.
And please, please for the love of St. Paul,
Don't feed certain people who troll...

I'm also going to edit this post and add,
Everything that I've forgotten, my bad...

Re: The Animu thread

Go watch .

My only advice is don't try to follow the story too hard the first go through.

Fuck every other anime, watch FMA. The second anime moreso than the first because it's actually following the manga.

Re: The Animu thread

I have a list... It's not a list of favourites though.

When I had never seen any anime past Hayo Miyazaki and Utawarerumono (from H-games) I discovered AMV Hell and used the clips to pick out animes that looked interesting. Since then I have gradually scrolled thourgh them, watching them one by one on both TANOD (The Anime Network On Demand, Rogers on Demand channel) and google videos. I keep that list in a notepad document on my dekstop. Inside the list, I rate the ones I have seen:

|A| = Awesome, I loved it.
|G| = Good, I liked it.
|M| = Meh, not bad/not my thing.
|S| = Sucks, I hated it.

Here's the list. I will spoiler it because of it's size.

**Another note; if I haven't rated it, as explained above, then I haven't actually SEEN it yet. Will update as I watch.

Oh, and by the way, I'm surprised no-one mentioned

I also have a site where you can DL each episode of FMA - Brotherhood, it's updated when each episode has been subbed.

Re: The Animu thread

I've never had access to a ton of anime growing up, it's considered evil here, but I'd have to say the two I like the most (that didn't entirely involve giant robots blowing stuff up) Are witch hunter robin and Big O, I'm aware I just contradicted myself but Big O had a pretty deep story and went easy on the giant robot stuff and had the best Voltron/Sentai snub I've seen. It also had great music and was animated by the people who worked on batman:the animated series, awesomeness for someone raised in the 90s.

Re: The Animu thread

A serious, short list from me this time;

(Yes, it is that good and it is worth everyone's time to check it out. Brotherhood moreso than the first anime simply because it follows the manga)

(In my opinion a somewhat depressing anime, but the story and characters are brilliant)
(Another depressing anime in my opinion, but again it is worth watching)
(GD, what you've got named 'Suiseiseki' is simply a character, the anime itself is called Rozen Maiden, which is an awesome anime)
(As Ku says, TTGL is the manliest anime in existence)
(Made by Gainax, the creators of Evengelion, another great anime and it's only six episodes long)

Also GD, I've looked yet I can't see anything about an anime for the Vocaloids, so I think you may have that mixed up with just a part of another music video made with the Vocaloids for AMV Hell. Just for clarification, which Hell was it in?

Re: The Animu thread

Hmm, good recommendations here. What can I add that hasn't been mentioned...

The Appleseed movie pretty cool, and does a good job on matching the "epic" criteria. The newer CG movie. I've still yet to see the older one or the original manga. Based on one of Shiro Masamune's manga. Doesn't perfectly follow Shiro's original story or characters, but is well done regardless. Full of Ghost in the Shell-esq style and coolness, but a bit lighter than the heavy political plot GITS has. The style of animation makes it definitely one to watch from a decent quality download and not streamed. (Not sure where you'd find that, since I got it on DVD.)

The dubbing is also actually well done and perfectly good, so can be watched in English if desired. I had two excellent AMVs to share, but it seems Youtube's copyright nazism has destroyed them.

There is also a sequel movie, Appleseed: Ex Machina, but I can't recommend that one, even if John Woo helped direct it. Still ok as a pure action flick, but starts getting too ridiculous and the plot goes beyond clichéd. When a land mate (mecha) pulls out a Final Fantasy Cloud style sword towards the end I couldn't help but wince.

Re: The Animu thread

I’m surprised no one’s yet to add Bludgeoning Angel Dokuro-chan.
Concisely: Short, funny… gore-fest. There’s not really any description I can make that’ll *properly* explain it… you really just need to see it to understand. Not even screenshots do it justice; they don’t explain how horribly, brilliantly out of place the random, excessive violence is.

I've seen the earlier Appleseed movies, Squid, and while they're a bit different from the 3d ones, I quite liked them - possibly even more than the 3D ones. ...I can't guarantee that anyone else will, though, because I vaguely recall thinking that the movies were lacking something significant, but ignoring it and enjoying them anyway. (I can't remember which 3D Appleseed movie is which, but I generally liked both... which was the first, the one where the bioroid-girl-thingy uses the line 'no sex', or the one where they
Kill that machine woman on the floating island thing?
(As you may guess from my terminology, it's been a while since I saw them and I can't remember that much of what actually happened, just how I felt about the movies in general.))

Re: The Animu thread

I didn't mind Dokuro-chan, but I didn't find it all that noteworthy. Just seemed like it was violent for the sake of being violent. Which it probably was.
