Re: Ayame's Adventure - English H-Game (Heaven Studios)
I know you don't trust me but that has not much to do with my ability to create content.
Regardless, very good question.
I tried to be the most transparent about things, there was so much negativity about Akabur and a few other artists for not saying shit and going M.I.A. before releasing content, so I didn't want to be that guy. especially on Patreon.
That led to me not accounting for bugs and I kept giving estimates, most of the times sounding like it would be absolutely fail proof and we missed them by a few days but we DID release content, either the sprites that we outsource (yeah, we don't have sprite artist, we outsource them) weren't delivered on time, or we had to re-touch some images, and in my end what happened was, pretty much a few bugs, scripts clashing in the most awkward situations forcing us to re-write most of it, people are very skilled in breaking the games in the most funny ways and it happens, and I'm thankful that people do try to cause the most bugs possible because no one wants to play for hours only to have the game crash or become soft locked.
We don't release stuff that we're not 100% happy with, we don't want to put garbage out there, even if we're not good at something, or I'M not good, I want to put out MY BEST, good or not it's MY BEST.
So the delay was: Clashing scripts, overall bugs like saving midways through events softlocking the game, doing things the way they weren't initially intended causing the game to soft lock (that was most due to the fact that the guy that I'm teaching how to make games in RPG Maker usually not accounting for people trying to break the game) so yeah, we released a Patreon version, it had bugs and we started squashing them, and we don't work on weekends, we used to but regardless how much you want to work and dish out content, it's too much stress and after a while you just stop being productive, I worked through christmas eve and new year's eve and that took a huge toll on us, so we just believe that people will talk shit REGARDLESS, but our fans will still be around and still trust us because they know we're doing our best.
If you want more info, PM me and I'll tell you some shit OFF THE RECORD, publicly, all I can say is, soon™, we ARE working on it, right now.
Also, Toxic, I don't explode on people for nothing, I explode on people for being pretty obviously at just trying to insult me directly, sometimes with the most bullshit arguments, but if I act the way I act as a developer, is mostly because I was ALWAYS patient with other releases, ask Takimaru, I would ask him sometimes once every two months "is there any progress?" and honestly, people grinding his gears every day about it is what made him quit, hell, ask Yummy, I never asked him how his progress was going, it's out when it's out, having that type of patience towards developers I expected people to just, chill, specially when they're getting it for free, but not everyone reacts to the same things the same way, and people are really impatient about their porn!
*pops in after deleting almost everything murky.*
I do, but that's cuz I know you.
Now, hostilities aside, if someone was less impatient than him and perhaps coddled you nicely while asking "Well, what exactly are the delays?" then what would your answer be? Cuz you got all up in arms and bent out of shape about him being impatient and kinda strawmanned him cuz he was missing information about a release date, but I'm guessing you guys had some trouble, received some unfair backlash for having to push it back, and decided not to give a tentative release date in the future to avoid that? Probably the smart way to go. I'm actually kinda surprised you didn't go with that in the first place cuz I know how much you've been on both sides of the 'releasing things' and 'waiting for releases' spectrum.
Still though, as logical and standard as that sounds for the industry, that still really didn't answer his question about what pushed it back. A simple explanation, instead of a cross and some nails might have sufficed.
