Well, just because they say it in the news doesn't make it 100% accurate. There's a thing called media censorship. Honestly, I think they just dropped a bomb on him and said "Mission accomplished, good work, let's go home."

Nah, they have a bunch of details out now. Early reports were just filled with speculation. The internet pretty much leaked a ton of stuff before Obama offically announced it by a good hour, hour and a half.

The fact is these people will happily drag a group of people, innocent people at that, into the middle of the street and SAW their heads off with a rusty butcher knife just because someone burned a book, drew a cartoon, or named a teddy bear Mohammed.

These people hate us not because of Israel, or the oil wars, but because we don't submit to their brand of magic skyman, because we live in a much higher standard of living than their camel crap houses, and because at one point in history we owned them.

Well, American special forces are trained to put two shot in the head of enemies, and you can bet everyone on Team 6 is a sharp shooter. They probably reacted by reflex when Osama raised a gun.

Nah, I had that reaction too, though I didn't even mutter it, I just thought it.

Oh, he's dead. How nice. This will solve no practical issues at all, there is still a Taliban and there are still idiots bombing places. It's a morale victory, sure, but in the end, it's just one guy.

And for those who like these kinds of things. Apparently, 72 virgins was mistranslated multiple times, from what I heard. It's hard to figure out what's a joke and what's an honest translation attempt as the language the original book was in is..Well, weird. Of what I heard so far it was supposed to mean one of the following:
72 grapes
A 72 year old virgin
72 virginal(Read: Innocent) children
72 virginal(Read: Undisturbed, clean) jars of water.

Except that US special Forces especially the SEAL teams aren't trained to aim for the head, double tap to the chest. Trust me I know, those paint guns they use for MOUT leave a hell of a welt. Granted in the heat of battle they could easily hit some one in the head. Nor does the question really matter any more since from what I've read they were essentially given orders to not arrest him.

And that ladies and gentlegerms is why the SAS (the originators of the double tap, and reflex shooting) is better. Two shoots through the mouth, blow out the spinal cord, make them choke on blood and bits of their own severed tongue.

Yeah, it's amazing how they train to aim for a part of the body that is full of vital organs so that any successful shot will likely do enough damage that is also a reasonably sized target instead of something much smaller and harder to hit.

Yes... yes they do. Centre of mass, vital organs, largest target. It actually makes a lot of sense if you pull your head out of video game and movie land.

And unlike movies and video games, even getting shot wearing protective armor, you don't just shrug it off.

Getting shot whilst wearing kevlar, even without steel or ceramic inserts, hurts like fuck but you'll survive and still have enough control to spray your weapon or detonate your hotdog vest.

Two shots to the gob will likely sever the brainstem, putting the target down quick and easy.


The above was told to me by my local pub landlord, who's an ex-SBS man (Special Boat Service - same training as SAS except they ingress via a rubber dingy instead of jumping out of a perfectly good plane with a bedsheet strapped their backs), not a video game.



I suppose the SAS/SBS are just better shots, afterall they have a tendancy to not shoot or throw frag grenades at hostages.:eek:

More than likely they wouldn't have had body armor on and even if they did body armor is not as good as it's made out to be. Hot dog vests usually have either suicide triggers or remote triggers so it doesn't matter where you shoot them.

That would be the typical military bragging, most of us do it at one time or another that doesn't mean it's true. The SAS are damn good mind you but they train the same way all the other SF do when it comes to shooting.


It's only convenient timing if you actually give Obama any credit for the operation. Of course Americans are for the most part too stupid to realize that and are already giving him credit. Technically, and I hate to say it, but Obama deserves less credit than Bush because the intelligence for the operation has been gathering since he was in office. A good portion of it also supposedly came from CIA interrogations AKA waterboarding, which also is thanks to Bush's policy. All's Obama did was pick the method he liked the best after getting briefed on the situation.

Kevlar isn't strong enough to stop most assault rifle rounds without the plates.

And two shots to the gob may not sever the brain stem. There are lots of ways to shoot a man in the head without severing the brain stem and its rather difficult to do it with a common assault rifle.

SAS are world class Special Forces aye, but pretty much every nation (the ones with SF) train their SF in a similar fashion.

Also like Ronny said, most insurgents don't have body armour on, and their suicide vests have suicide switches or another insurgent watching from a distance ready to trigger the device regardless.
