If it's hosted by one of my friends, or one of their friends, I'll usually go unless there's something else of greater importance I have to do. (Ah, who am I kidding... PARTY TIME WOOO!)
If I don't know the person hosting it, I won't go normally unless I'm needed to act as a <insert unwanted thing here>-block.
Usually cock-block.

Haha, my and my roommates would have parties like every 2-3 weekends. We have general parties and then just name them after a certain roommate so we can like cycle em. I'm not exactly the life of the party, but I can get pretty clutch at pong.
I'm not a fun drunk at all. People change differently, some are violent for fun, some are violent aggressive, some are loud, some are only funny when they're drunk. It only takes me like 3 drinks to get a little tipsy, but then it takes me like 20 more before I actually get drunk. And how do I act when I'm drunk? Just sleepy. Not pass-out sleepy, I don't just crash, I'll just be really really tired.

i had parties with all my uni friends, there nerds and most of them love a decent piss up.
i don't drink though. never warmed to the taste.
its for the best, I don't think I'd be a good drunk, i spend to much of my time ignoring urges best ignored.

I don't party much, and when I do, it's with my uni buddies, and we're mostly clean (no drugs, no alcohol)

I've had various different parties. Everything from my drunken departure for Afghanistan party, quite a few somewhat to very drunken bonfire parties, and some very sober movie get together parties (We called em parties cause we had fun, and cake).

There used to be a yearly neighborhood party when I was still a kid, but other than that, I don't go to many parties any more. I've been to a couple movie based conventions and a couple website parties, but nothing else.

I actually like to go to parties, either drinking or non-drinking. I stopped going however because I discovered there's always that one asshole who when he's drunk or not getting enough attention likes to start a fight with the biggest person there. Being 200 cm tall usually makes me the biggest.

Don't go to a lot of parties, but when I do I usually enjoy myself, I bring my guitar and when people start getting tipsy it's singing time^^
Also I have been blessed and cursed with a strange reaction to alcohol, I don't change in personality (Some people say I'm always acting like I'm that perfect balance of not sober and not trashed... so that explains that.)
I don't even really loose my balance... I remember drinking 3 liters of beer and a hell lot of vodka shots... Could still walk along a straight line and have a half hour discussion on greek philosophy with a guy that doesn't drink. But I couldn't say the alfabet backwards though... Can't when I'm sober either...
And, here comes the killer, I get the opposite of a hangover... I wake up really early and usually start making breakfast before anyone else, some people hate me for it, some people love me for it.

I find it amusing that this thread pops up given the way I spent my evening. Invited a friend to come hang out for the first time with some other friends of mine (whom she knew, but just never in a wholly social capacity) and her mother kept fearing that we were all going to get drunk and she was to take my keys if that were the case and just overprotective mom stuff and all we did was sit around, eat snacks, and play Arkham Horror. She even told her mother "Mom, we're a bunch of nerds. We're not going to be getting drunk," which, when she related this to me and my other friend turned into a discussion on how to turn AH *into* a drinking game and the fact that Copper likes to be the sober one at parties to make fun of all the drunks.
So, yeah, parties? Not so much. Picnics, movie nights, game nights, LAN parties, yes. Drunken revelry? Pass.

I don't really like parties. I've been to a few and I much prefer when it's just me and a bunch of friends having fun, hanging out and maybe having some drinks. That's what I usually end up doing in parties anyway(I'm pretty shy) and in a party I'm more likely to get drunk and there's more things to distract from having fun and it's always noisy, which makes it difficult to chat with my friends.
So it's not that I dislike parties, but I'll rather just hang out with some friends. Same good sides with a lot less downsides.

I saw a video once where a cop pulled some guy over for suspected drunk driving. She had him say the abc's backwards and he did it. He did the stand on one foot and touch your nose, and he even broke out into a little jig. The officer looks at him and says "That's impressive, I've never seen anyone do that before," and the guys responds "It's cause I'm drunk... damnit,"
He was arrested, I still thought it was funny.
