Re: Crashed Hive- Mountains east of TP forums.
As Burrito made his way further down the passage, the sounds of battle grew more distinct, and the launch of wraith stunner bolts could be made out under the din of automatic fire. Burrito turned a corner and found himself a short leap away from the backs of a pair of wraith, which were apparently too distracted to notice him. This likely had something to do with the unusual being trying, (and not quite yet failing,) to go toe to toe with the both of them at once.
For a while, Burrito was at a loss as to what the creature was supposed to actually be; standing somewhat larger and wider than a human, the metallic creature had a rather reptilian, demonic appearance.
It’s shiny-grey hide and apparent joints immediately brought bots to mind – and yet, all bots created by the wraith had been part biological… and far more human looking. A large, clawed hand had grabbed one wraith by the arm, while the other hand was trying to keep his comrade at bay. Red eyes glowed in their lizard-like head, while taloned feet kept it attached to the floor despite the wraith’s struggles.
Beyond it, Burrito’s somewhat diminished eyesight could make out several similar figures, armed with the weapons making the noise he’d heard, firing on more wraith further down the corridor. These wraiths had the advantage of cover, while the creatures were in the open, apart from a few humanoid figures they had propped up in front of them. Burrito watched as one of the few defenders took a stunner blast to the head, only to keep firing and shred its shooter with bullets. Near the battle occurring closer to him was a distinctly dead wraith, with a sword that was little more than a glorified metal spike sticking out of its face.
If the wraith had created these things, they were certainly regretting it now.
In one movement, the machine closest to Burrito pulled the grappled wraith near and floored it with a punch from the other hand, before spinning back to face the wraith still standing. This allowed the remaining wraith the chance to swing his stunner at the creature, scoring a powerful hit to the chest and knocking it into the wall. Pressing its advantage, the remaining wraith ran at its adversary, swinging its weapon in a downward arc – only for the being to catch the weapon and push against the wraith trying to kill it. While the creature was slowly gaining ground, the wraith it had initially floored had recovered and was making his way to the struggling two. Without assistance, the fight could very quickly go downhill for the new beings…
