Re: Crashed Hive- Mountains east of TP forums.

As Burrito made his way further down the passage, the sounds of battle grew more distinct, and the launch of wraith stunner bolts could be made out under the din of automatic fire. Burrito turned a corner and found himself a short leap away from the backs of a pair of wraith, which were apparently too distracted to notice him. This likely had something to do with the unusual being trying, (and not quite yet failing,) to go toe to toe with the both of them at once.

For a while, Burrito was at a loss as to what the creature was supposed to actually be; standing somewhat larger and wider than a human, the metallic creature had a rather reptilian, demonic appearance.
picture.php

It’s shiny-grey hide and apparent joints immediately brought bots to mind – and yet, all bots created by the wraith had been part biological… and far more human looking. A large, clawed hand had grabbed one wraith by the arm, while the other hand was trying to keep his comrade at bay. Red eyes glowed in their lizard-like head, while taloned feet kept it attached to the floor despite the wraith’s struggles.

Beyond it, Burrito’s somewhat diminished eyesight could make out several similar figures, armed with the weapons making the noise he’d heard, firing on more wraith further down the corridor. These wraiths had the advantage of cover, while the creatures were in the open, apart from a few humanoid figures they had propped up in front of them. Burrito watched as one of the few defenders took a stunner blast to the head, only to keep firing and shred its shooter with bullets. Near the battle occurring closer to him was a distinctly dead wraith, with a sword that was little more than a glorified metal spike sticking out of its face.
If the wraith had created these things, they were certainly regretting it now.

In one movement, the machine closest to Burrito pulled the grappled wraith near and floored it with a punch from the other hand, before spinning back to face the wraith still standing. This allowed the remaining wraith the chance to swing his stunner at the creature, scoring a powerful hit to the chest and knocking it into the wall. Pressing its advantage, the remaining wraith ran at its adversary, swinging its weapon in a downward arc – only for the being to catch the weapon and push against the wraith trying to kill it. While the creature was slowly gaining ground, the wraith it had initially floored had recovered and was making his way to the struggling two. Without assistance, the fight could very quickly go downhill for the new beings…

Burrito looked on at the battle going on, his right hand releasing the stunner as he began to run forward, his footsteps releasing a loud thumping as he charges and tackles one wraith to the ground, bringing his entirely exposed mechanical right arm up and then slamming his metal fist into the wraith's face, most likely fracturing the facial bones in multiple places "And stay down." he says, standing off of the injured wraith and then stepping on his stomach with a loud groan from the wraith "Now. Who's next?" he asks, cracking the knuckles on his left hand, then winding up for a punch, hitting the second wraith directly in the spine with his left hand, breaking it an causing he wraith to fall over in a lump on the floor as Burrito looks directly into the monster's eyes "Join me, and help us kill these" he says, reaching down and picking up the wraith he had just killed by the neck "I can help you."

Re: Crashed Hive- Mountains east of TP forums.

Getting a closer look at the creature’s face, Burrito noticed a lack of any seams or other indications of a mouth. Just as he may have been wondering if the creature could talk, a hearty, deep voiced but female cry of “GODDAMNIT!!” in the direction of the still ongoing battle caused the creature’s attention to shift, and it lifted itself from the ground and made towards its allies. Were Burrito to look, he would find one of the defenders had fallen on its face, and was apparently where the shouting female voice was coming from. The cry was soon followed by another loud outburst of “FUCKING SHOTS SHORT THE SYSTEMS!”

As the creature he had saved passed the body of the wraith that had been dead when Burrito arrived, it retrieved the sword from its head. …Well, more accurately, it attempted to retrieve the sword from its head. It was stuck well and proper, which – assuming that the sword was the creature’s weapon in the first place – is probably why it abandoned it for hand-to-hand combat. The fact that the wraith’s skull refused to let go of its sword did little to deter the creature, opting instead to drag the body along with it. As it ran toward its allies, the blade eventually tore through the top of the wraith’s head, freeing it.

For something so heavy looking, it could move quite fast - it had reached its allies in but a few moments. Of the creatures defending from the wraith, one was down and swearing its face off, and one other continued to provide covering fire with what appeared to be a Desert Eagle, while the sword wielding one ran around the corner the wraith were taking cover behind. Several spurts of blood from around the corner and much wraith screaming later, a rather bloodier version of the sword-wielding creature returned.

The Desert Eagle wielder noticed Burrito, immediately took aim, and spoke, apparently to the sword wielder even though its head did not turn away from Burrito. There was an audible click from the head before he spoke,
“Wha- who, is this, Morg? He came from your side.” Several moments pass and Burrito hears no response, but the gun wielder suddenly turns his head towards the sword wielder and speaks.
“You’re sure…?” More time passes, in which the sword wielding one moves its arms in ways that suggest it is speaking, for emphasis on whatever it was talking about.
“But-“ few moments more, then he turns back to Burrito, weapon still trained on him, and asks plainly,
“Are you a bot?” The sword one facepalms.

Re: Crashed Hive- Mountains east of TP forums.

"Oh, I didn't realize you had a shield," John says, a bit shocked.

((Not entirely sure what he's looking for, but I'm going to guess he's looking for more of the leech men inside of the hive and run with that.))

Grave's work finally paid off... in a way he didn't want it to. His scan revealed at least another fifty or sixty of the leech creatures, and those were just within twenty eight decks of where they were. Luckily the closest one was still six decks away, but it was still a problem if it came across their group.

"No Burrito, that was an enemy exploding after we killed it, sorry."

He shook his head.

"Why do I doubt that the wraith made these things?"

He was cut off by a familiar sounding wraith voice, the same one Pale had left behind!

"That's because we didn't. But I know who did, and it's the reason the Queen ordered an attack on these forums."

He came into view and by way of an explanation glared at Pale. "You SAID that field you placed me in was completely fail proof! A Thembrihkal walked by and when it got within a hundred feet your entire spell FAILED ON ME!"

He seemed to pause for a moment, collecting himself before finally turning to peer at Tsuki, his body going rigid when he saw the movement inside of her stomach. "How long ago was she impregnated by the leech creature? Time is of the utmost importance on this, so I suggest you hurry your reply. If they completely hatch, they will eat their way out of her and kill her, using her body for fuel to become more of these... leech human ABOMINATIONS."

Clearly he was not happy, but he also had confirmed what they feared without so much as being asked for his help. Could it be he'd been telling the truth?

He also took note of the petrified Siphon and raised an eyebrow. "Most effective way of rendering him helpless. I take it then your attempts to restore his mind have failed thus far? He spoke of a female called Shrike, said that her mind would be able to help restore, but she might need help. I believe he said the reason only she could initiate it was because... it was her mind that awoke his telepathy again?"

((Will need to chat with you in the chat later Pale on this new development.))

Re: Crashed Hive- Mountains east of TP forums.

"I am not. I'm a forum-goer from ULMF. I'm in the middle of finding a central area to administer a liquid poison. Would you happen to know where I could find it?" Burrito asks, his right hand coming up and his fist clenching "Don't be afraid of the hardware. It's the result of a bot attack." he says, lowering the arm and starting to walk towards the female "I'm here to save anyone that the Wraith may have kidnapped." he says, his left hand raising and his right coming up to pull the glove off, revealing human skin underneath "I'm human. Maybe a bit mechanical, but I still have a human brain." he says, a warm smile on his face

Re: Crashed Hive- Mountains east of TP forums.

At that time, alarms began screaming throughout the hive, warning of intruders. Many Wraith began flooding into the halls, looking for prey.

The other wraith standing in front of the group heard the alarm, as well as the Wraith coming down the hall towards them. "We don't have time for this, we can't let them bottle us up in here, they'll have the advantage."

He moved towards a console, and when Copper didn't quite move out of his way, he gently pushed her aside. "Step aside!"

His fingers then flew over a panel there, and just a moment before the Wraith would have had a clear shot at the group, he activated something that caused the wall in front of them to simply... move and reform, cutting them off from any and all attackers in a new room, without a door.

He chuckled then spoke. "They won't get to us any time soon. In case your wondering, these hives due to their organic nature can... alter their shapes if you input the right command. I just made it form walls that wraith weaponry can not penetrate around us all, giving us a chance to help your friend here, if you'll let me. There is a treatment that kills the creatures inside of her, that will not harm her, but we need to go and get it. Since it seems your still reluctant to trust me, I figured perhaps we could finish that conversation without being SHOT AT, yes?"

Re: Crashed Hive- Mountains east of TP forums.

Grave sighed. It seemed that they didn't have much of a choice. "Alright, lead the way. However, I suggest we move with caution. I can sense a large number of these creatures in the area around us. Over fifty monsters within twenty eight decks from here. The closest one is around six decks away. I won't be able to do a large area scan and move at the same time, so if we run, I'll be able to warn you about an incoming attack - nothing else."

Re: Crashed Hive- Mountains east of TP forums.

"It... was...." Tsuki started to reply, but she couldn't recall how long her... torture... was going on. "Several minutes ago... at least. I can't remember...." She just wanted to block it all out.

Re: Crashed Hive- Mountains east of TP forums.

Grave shook his head. "If all else fails, I could try to project darkness within Tsuki's body and destroy those things. However, she'll most likely suffer a lot of damage as well." This day was a very bad one. Grave felt that soon he'd begin to loathe these monsters with great passion.

Re: Crashed Hive- Mountains east of TP forums.

"Six decks you say? Hmm, that places it near the backup power relay sections then, and hibernation stasis controls. It is unlikely any of the crew is still in stasis, when this hive went down they should have been awakened. However that also means it is closer to our target than we are."

A thoughtful pause ensues before he continues. "The item we need, which was designed specifically it seems to counter the... implantation of the creature's eggs if four decks above us. It would be easy if we could climb straight up there, but I don't exactly have a welding torch, and opening the roof top could prove hazardous to our health if there are any obstacles in the way of the living walls. I doubt we exactly want heavy objects falling four decks down and splattering us, and I don't have a welding torch capable of burning through it. That leaves us with the only option of walking out of here, up four levels and back across. There is a byway section three sections over from us that we can use to ascend, and it will likely be at least partially guarded."

He stopped at Tsuki's words, listening very carefully to her, nodding for a few moments. "Then we have no time to lose. From what we've seen, once the eggs are implanted, it usually only takes between twenty and thirty minutes for them to completely hatch, at which point the... spawn begins eating their way out. Perhaps another five minutes after they hatch is all you have left before irreversible damage is dealt that even a reverse feed, which I COULD do, would be insufficient to repair and restore. Life is easy to restore, your organs having been consumed... that is a different matter entirely."

Re: Crashed Hive- Mountains east of TP forums.

For the time being, Copper stuck by Tsuki. The options they had weren't looking very good about now. Hearing their former prisoner speaking, she rose to her feet, keeping an eye on him. She was about to comment to him about Siphon when the alarm started blaring. As he pushed her aside, she growled at him, but did get out of his way, moving to stand on Tsuki's other side, near John.

"All right. We need to get there and get there fast. Siphon's my only concern right now, since he's dead weight." She looks at the wraith. "How long would it take them to breech that wall and can we get to where we need to go and back before then?"

Re: Crashed Hive- Mountains east of TP forums.

He pauses for only a moment before answering. "Provided they do not acquire a special cutting instrument, their weapons will take at least fifteen minutes to get through that wall and have any kind of shot at us. With one perhaps five minutes. Either way, unlikely we can all go around to the room and return here before they begin to breach the walls. I do not believe splitting up is a good option, however.... you know your team mates better than I and what their abilities are. I am unfit to determine the best use of their skills and will defer to your judgment there. Either way, we should do something soon, they are beginning to shoot the wall."

Dull thumps could be heard from the Wraith weapons as they began firing their weapons into the wall the other wraith had set up.

Re: Crashed Hive- Mountains east of TP forums.

Tsuki hugged herself. Her fate... didn't sound pleasant. "I... really didn't need to know... how I was going to die...." She shuddered slightly as she tried to hold back a sob. Too much stuff, horrible horrible stuff, was crashing down onto her at once.

Re: Crashed Hive- Mountains east of TP forums.

"Yeah, well, we're going to do our damndest to make sure that doesn't happen, so don't worry about it yet, okay?" As the wraith mentions the shots, she cocks her head to the side. "Yeah, I can hear that. Allright. Siphon stays here. Sparky, you're in the lead," she tells the wraith. "Grave, I want you after him for as much a head's up on more of those critters as you can give. Tsuki, Pale, and I will take the middle. If you can't walk, hon, I'll carry you," she tells the other girl, about the only moment her voice drops from a bark to something kinder. "John, you've got our back. Anybody that doesn't want to go on this run guards Siphon and watches that wall." She looks around to the rest of the squad. "Any questions, comments or complaints, speak now or let's get moving."

In the meantime, she gets on the radio, regardless of whether they start moving or not. Yo, bossman. We gotta book from where you left us to get help for Tsuki. There's currently a batch of unfriendlies trying to blast their way in but the wall's holding. Once you're done with your errand, if you can clear 'em out, it'd be most appreciated. Just watch out for the guns.

Re: Crashed Hive- Mountains east of TP forums.

There were only a few comments from the wraith. "Your not dying, not like that and not while I'm still alive."

He turned to Copper at her comment of Tsuki walking. "Carry her as much as you can, she should avoid walking, it will only speed up her metabolism and the rate of change within the eggs. Don't ask how I know, you won't like the answer."

A moment as he pauses then says, "if they do break through the wall here first, and no one is here, how do we know they won't kill him?" He indicates Siphon. "He's not able to fight back in that state I'd wager. AH, perhaps we can... dissuade them from attacking. A deck above us there is a storage facility that should still have stun bombs. We COULD get a few and send one out there, taking them out and then dispose of them as you see fit? Yes, that could work if we move, it's within easy reach."

John nodded. "I got your backs, just watch front and center."

Re: Crashed Hive- Mountains east of TP forums.

That remark got an arched brow from the vampire. "Carrying her it is. Princess or piggy-back, Tsuki?" She did her best to keep her tone joking, wanting to keep the girl as much at ease as possible. She thinks, too, about his mention of the bombs. "Can you manipulate the floor like you did the walls? I don't want to have to waste time coming back down here." That would be, of course, assuming everyone went or Burrito didn't immediately backtrack.

Re: Crashed Hive- Mountains east of TP forums.

He nodded. "Yes, assuming we can clear the floor of any obstacles that would prevent the safeties from kicking in, I should be able to open a hole in the floor large enough to drop our bomb in. One thing when I do. DON'T look down into it until after you hear the shrieking noise from it. If you do your nervous system will be affected and you will be rendered immobile from anywhere between twenty minutes to an hour from the sheer shock."

It was clear he was impressed with her idea, and annoyed at himself for not thinking of it himself.

Re: Crashed Hive- Mountains east of TP forums.

(For the moment, I would like to continue under the assumption that this is occurring before the alarm and Copper’s radio-in.)
While the two were conversing, the downed woman says impatiently,
“Would one of you pick this fucking suit up, already?”, but is ignored as the other two wait for a response.
Burrito responds,
"I am not.”
This gets a sigh and a triumphant but quiet “See, I told you he wasn’t-“ from the Desert Eagle wielder, before being cut off by Burrito’s next statement. “
I'm a forum-goer from ULMF.”

The Desert Eagle wielder goes silent. Apart from this, though, Burrito cannot notice any other change in the people’s stance, due to the suits’ inability to show facial movements and subtle reactions, like tensing. He continues without noticing the sudden stop in conversation, and as he moves towards the downed woman, the man with the handgun says quietly, “Did he just…?”, while the downed woman’s breathing suddenly becomes raspy and laboured. The front of the suit still facing the floor, she says
Get… me up. Show me… your face”, marking the first time Burrito has heard her speak without shouting, though strangely the restrained malice in her voice seems to be greater than the unrestrained malice she had displayed before.

(This section occurs concurrently with the alarm and the rest of the RP.)
Sirens blared in the hive, while two other uninvited groups made their way down the corridors. Both of them contained at least one of the suited individuals.

"I don't see why we're taking orders from him. We're proud Toon Pimp forum members, we don't need the help of their kind..." he whispered, eliciting noises of agreement from the other three people to which he was speaking. Unfortunately, the 'him' to which he referred to, another one of the suited people Burrito had encountered, heard his comment and took exception to it. Grabbing the Toon Pimp member by its clothes and placing it against the wall, a man's voice, tinged with rather too much enjoyment, came from the suit and stated
"You follow me..." He proceeded to slowly perforate the TP member's upper arm with one sharp claw, merrily digging down while the man screamed.
"Because I can do this... and you can't stop me!" Though the suit obscured his face, his tone betrayed the sadistic grin that had formed. He made a disturbing laughing noise, and put the wounded TP member down, where his comrades rushed to support him.

The discontent group continued scouting the hive, until poor luck found them running into one of the leech people. Before anyone had a chance to react, the leech man pounced the group's only female TP member. The other TP members panicked and tried to line up the creature, causing the armoured man to shout
"Wait! STOP!". Unfortunately this was to no avail, and the panicked TP members opened fire on their comrade, killing her in moments. The leeches, meanwhile, simply reformed, and found itself without any remaining female prey...

The other group, in an entirely different portion of the hive, had a far higher concentration of armoured people (6), and only one TP Member.
"I don't see why I'm taking orders from them. I'm a proud Toon Pimp forum member, I don't need the help of their kind,” he whispered. Unfortunately, the leader about whose forces he had spoken about had heard his comment and took exception to it. Grabbing the Toon Pimp member by its clothes and placing it against the wall, a man's voice, coated with anger only someone who was professionally angry could muster, came from the suit and stated,
picture.php

"You follow me..." Before easily grabbing his heavy HK21 machine gun and firing a short burst on a wraith that had been sneaking up, just inside his peripheral vision, killing it with the shots before it had a chance to fire back.
"Because you can't do that."

He put the TP member down as one of the armoured men gave a report.
"Krell. Hostility, fear, despair and sorrow. Right-forwards and up a level."
Fucking psychics. Krell thought, Can't give good directions for shit...
"Sorry, sir."
Oh. Right. Fucking psychics...
"And have you got any idea what that would be coming from?" Krell asked, with more than a hint of sarcasm and rhetorical-ness to the question.
"I only do intentions. You know that."
"Yep." Fucking psychics-
"But if I had to guess, I'd say prisoners, and torturers in the act of applying their trade."
For a moment, Krell tries and fails to find any fault with his psychic’s logic. Annoyed at being shown up, he angrily proclaims,
Well, then, we've got some prisoners to save, don't we!?" Come on, slackers! Time's wasting!"

(I've left it open to how the leech-man will respond to males. Also, Krell's group is walking into the middle of a Thembrihkal breeding area. Those emotions are from the impregnated victims.)

Re: Crashed Hive- Mountains east of TP forums.

((Leech Man would attack and kill Male targets since it can't really rape and impregnate them, and as for the Thembrihkal.... I hope they brought Naquadah bombs with them.))

From above the group nearing the nesting area, they would hear the trumpeting roar of a handful of the large creatures. It seemed they were massing for an attack...

Re: Crashed Hive- Mountains east of TP forums.

Grave nodded upon hearing Copper's command. The formation and ideas she suggested were really good. "Alright, if everything's clear, let's move. We can't waste another minute. In case we run into one of those monsters that got Tsuki, I'll face it. It seems that my abilities work well on simple lifeforms like these." He remembered what happened the last time and sighed. "And if it tries to blow up, I'll create a shield. It should be enough to stop most of the force." However, despite Grave's confident tone of voice he'd rather avoid doing that. Altough he could create a shield strong enough to withstand the blast, he'd have to use his whole body as a medium to channel the required power, linking him to the shield. All of the hits it would take would affect Grave as well.
