Today is ANZAC Day, and this thread of any is entirely appropriate to bring it up. Today we remember the fallen soldiers of Australia and New Zealand, and the sacrifices they made in the service of their country.

For militaries? AZNAC Day? Don't know much about Austarlia or New Zealands militaries. I'd like to acknowledge the Navy SEALs, whom do the all too necessary wet-work that keeps too much shit from hitting the fan. And certain Russian officers back in the Cold War. They saved the world a couple of times by refusing to launch when their radar thought we had launch at them. Thanks Russia, we owe you.

remember the navy seals on rememberance day, this is ANZAC day. It would be disrespectful to praise britan on independance day.
As usual i was in the march holding my grandfathers banner. There were less people than normal due to rain but they still showed up.

I've gotten to work some with the Australian Navy, toured one of their frigates and gave them a tour of my last ship in the Pacific. We also had the privilege of joint exercises with them and a short port visit in Sydney. I've got a great deal of respect for them, and I envy their enlisted, who are entitled a certain amount of beer every day while underway. It's a privilege that stems back to the daily ration of grog, a tradition which Britain and the United States have sadly revoked.
I've never gotten to work with New Zealanders, but either way I'll offer a crisp salute to our brothers in arms from both countries, whether fallen or still fighting the good fight.

I was in the mall today, had to pass the time since my staff meeting was two hours later than I thought. They played the trumpet over the radio and the entire place just stopped and dipped their heads till it was over, even the people behind the counters. Never seen anything like it before.
