But because I know that won't end the thread, I'm going to add this:

Does anyone else feel like the FF series went to hell after FFVI? Probably not, everyone else I've asked thinks VII is the Z0MG GREATEST FF EVAR, but I tend to disagree. I did not care for VII or later.
Except for the porn.

FFVI was definitively the best. VII was extremely good, but Cloud killed it. VIII.. well.. The music was good, and Hells yeah, Quistis...? I loved the hell out of IX(Kuja's female!), X was another decent, X-2.. Lol. and XII... havent beaten it

Hmm would Dynasty Warriors 5:XL and Dynasty Warriors: BB count as an RPGs? they do have RPG elements to them >.>

FFXII is an awesome game, I dunno why people keep saying its not. Granted its combat system and the Gambits are a bit MMO-esque but I enjoyed it a lot.

Tactical RPG's still get my vote over every other RPG everytime though.

I grew up on Secret Of Mana, Lufia (II) and Terranigma, but later I turned to Western RPGs for the freedom they give. So - both.

Most of our MMOs in the house has been JRPGs, from LoD to FFs, even toss in a few Tales, and some more obscure ones like the Musashi series. I was always one for the more 'active' RPGs like KH and Musashi, though

Oh god, I've been playing Brave Fencer Musashi on my PSP for a while, its such an awesome game. That and Barbara Goodson does Musashi's voice. Such an awesome voice actress.

I beat Samurai Legend Musashi. Gud game, if the story is a bit shaky. Musashi is a funny char XD

I guess I should finally list my preferences, I wouldn't want to choose between them but if I had to I would tend slightly towards the WRPG's. My favorites being the Baldu'rs Gate, Icewind Dale, and Neverwinter Nights series. Followed by the all the Fallout stuff and Jagged Alliance stuff.

I'll admit, the combat system in FFXII took a *lot* of getting used to (I see the monster on the screen, my automatic response is to button-mash until it is dead...) but once I settled into it, it made it nice. The gambits made things nice, not having to *constantly* manage your team. Staring at Balthier in leather pants made things nice. And, of course, our running joke of the game...Fran's ass.

Good point, Skies of Arcadia probably swings the balance in the direction of JRPGs for me.

Alas, no. I don't think they've been released over here. I do know a game called Illusion of Time - ah, that's the same game, just different title.

One of the few oldschool games I'd love to see completely revamped graphics-wise

Just thought I'd check with the name, since you'd noted the Illusion of Gaia/Illusion of Time point.

Kind of like how Kouldelka (an unusual PS1 game) is connected with ...crap! Braincramp! *runs downstairs* Oh, I hate that...Shadow Hearts and Shadow Hearts Covenant but you'd really never know it from playing them, I think but for a few obscure references.

Its appearing that the JRPGs are much more classic and common to everyone here... though I still live the Western ones more entertaining.
