try to patch again using rpgmaker trans. Then just check the files of the original and the patching one. the file size of both files should be the same and just ignore that error.

I can't find that text anywhere in the patch. My best guess is that the translator doesn't know how to handle something in a script. Worst case scenario would be one untranslated line, but it seems to be a comment, anyway. Just ignore the error.

theres a bug with the translation already mentioned in the main shrift thread, it is the "reset salamander" doesnt work if you use the trans maybe its related to that item.

Does anyone have the translated files? The machine isn't letting me translate pass that one file.

I made some updates to the translation. Almost all skills, items and states have now been translated (except for some of the Sphinx

stuff, which is just impossible if you don't actually speak Japanese). And pretty much everything related to Camazotz as well. For... Reasons... Ahem...
It hasn't been proofread by someone other than myself, so there might be some mistakes here and there.

Since a lot of files were changed, I just put all of them in this zip. There is also a file called patchpatch.diff, which is a GNU diff-style patch file, showing the changes between this version and the 'official' one. If you're not Lv1VillagerA, it's useless to you. Maybe even if you are, but hey, it takes two seconds to make.

Just overwrite the existing files with these ones, and re-run the translation.

Does anyone have the translated files? The machine isn't letting me translate pass that one file.
Are you using version 4.5 of the translator? Because while it does give that same error on my end, the translation still completes without any problems.

Here are the proofread files.
-afrg_advancedcheck: auto-proofread
-afrg_shortened: all your translated text into one file for convenience. ctrl+f " > SHORTENED: " to navigate between shortened files
-afrg_textToProofread: text you can copy paste on a text editor to edit minor grammar mistakes
-afrgPR_shortened: parts I already edited from your last partial

I took a quick glance at the the files and there isn't that many mistakes.

It appears "♡" seems to trigger "Warning short line". You can skip most if those warnings. That warning is supposed to bring attention to lines that are way too short while not being sentences (lines that ends with a punctuation) and don't feel right in the text window. I feel like lines that ends with "♡" are proper sentences and shouldn't trigger that warning so I'll try to make it so it doesn't trigger that warning.

I already edited the previous translation so you shouldn't bother editing those. I think you know what are the parts you added this time but I've added afrgPR_shortened.txt just in case.

Camazotz way of speaking is just broken so I don't think afrg_textToProofread.txt will be that useful.

Anyway, make something out of it or wait a few days until I figure out how to make the auto-proofread better.

A special thank you to Lv1VillagerA, afrg, and everyone working on the translation for this game. It's the first time I've gladly supported the developer through DLsite etc. largely in part due to your efforts.

I started doing some translations of this game over the last week for my own use and then realised on here that some people were already starting to properly translate it. Looking through the patch, it doesn't look like anyone's really touched the parts I've worked on but I might just be an idiot and not be reading the file properly.

I've basically gone through and started translating from the game start, e.g. tutorial, prologue, and some of chapter 1-1, which should include some of the barghast stuff. Stuff I've translated I've marked with #Ron, and stuff I've translated but am not confident in (either because I'm not 100% on some of the nuance, or because I think there's probably a much better way of wording a particular line) are marked with #RonIffy. Where possible I've more liberally translated stuff to fit English a lot better (e.g. reordering sentences, condensing overly verbose Japanese because translating it literally would sound a bit bizarre), but there is some more literal translations when I've had a brain fart and can't think of how to put it into more natural English.

Let me know if this is something you'd like me to keep working on or if I need to do it differently. Happy for someone to tell me to go away.

Hmm... thanks? I don't know how/if you signed your translation like #afrg #aesthtic #dargoth.
I can't do anything if you didn't. ):

Edit: never mind it's #Ron.
I'm back working on the patch. I still have much to do. I'll edit this post later.

Here's @afrg proofread without the "♡" issue.

Then @conty40, here's the proofread but you'll have to see with Aesthetic if you're translating the beginning of the game.

Also I didn't forget about you @Aesthetic, you're next I'll PM you the updated patch now that I've decent internet bandwidth. or just add everything here

No worries. My Japanese isn't all that good anyway. I'm curious if there's no way to combine all the work done on these patches though?

Yes, I can combine everything but before that:
-afrg: have to correct some mistakes until he says it's OK to be added in the patch
-conty40: should contact you because he already translated some stuff in the beginning of the game

I can't add you just because some of your sentences are too long and won't show up correctly. If you don't want to fix them I'll do it for you. But as long as it's your translation and that you might go back to it it's better you fix them.

But if your question is about the Google Drive then it's still a bit difficult for me to work with it because I need to figure out how to properly use it with the auto-translator.

There's a lot of superfluous stuff in the proofreader output, as you indicated, but I think I got all the bad mistakes. This zip has just the changed files (plus a diff). Note that in Commonevents/485, one of the game updates must have altered something, so the file I'm uploading now has a translation for line 200, which used to be for line 199. (It's still a machine translation, though)

As for cooperation, wouldn't it be easier to set up some git/svn/mercurial repo? All the benefits of working locally, plus versioning, comparisons, etc.

About Commonevents/485 you shouldn't worry about it. Both the MTL and RPGMTrans auto-correct context.

As for cooperation, there are some limitation due to RPGMakerTrans and the auto-translator.

But if I had to make it work I would upload the current part 4 translation without updating the RPGMakerTrans with new Japanese text nor the MTLed lines.
Then I would periodically upload a new patch on ulmf using the shared folder -- RPGMTrans won't translate everything, this isn't the only tool I'm using when I upload a 100% patch.

Now git or svn or mercurial repo? Any suggestion?

I would suggest git, but only because I have more experience using it. SVN works just fine as well, I just don't like the most popular client for it (TortoiseSVN). If you do decide to use git, you can just set it up in the same directory you're currently working in, so nothing would change as far as any other programs/pipelines are concerned. There would just be a .git directory next to the .txt files, which you don't even have to look at manually. You'll also need a host, like github, gitlab or bitbucket. They're all free, I've used all three extensively, and there's not much to recommend one over the other in my view. Any of them would work fine. Github doesn't give you free private repos, but it does have the best tool support (I think). I could post a little tutorial, if you'd like.

I'll set up a git. I'll PM you if I'm lost.

Edit: can't even sign up. I'll try this another computer/browser/ISP. :/

What's the best way to use git? Is it through a client like with SVN?

Also I had a look and fixed a couple of minor mistakes and a line length issue that I could see.
Best way to use GIT is with bitbucket and sourcetree.
TBH subversioning's a pain in the ass since you'll need the atlassian which is the same as a bitbucket account. After that you'll need to install source tree which is a GUI interface for the CLI of GIT specifically tailored to be used with Bitbucket's cloud API.
Once it's setup it's hyper useful, but before that... it's a pain in the butt. Not only that, but new people working on the project will have to go through the same leaps and get invited to the project via e-mail.

I'd just give up on combining all of our work tbqh. Creator's getting an official translation anyway.
