Whee, the story's beginning!

I like how I can actually tell where a new scene begins in this one >p

So, how realistic is this going to get? Modern warfare stuff realistic or Gundams and other mechs realistic? Or is it going to get ridiculous?

... or do you just not know yet and I'm just hyper off caffeine?

Mmm, caffeine.....

Well Kusa, to answer your question using video games, imagines a combination of Gears of War, Resistance 2, Brothers in Arms: Hell's Highway sorta fighting. Though of course, I'll try to get even more brutal than those, but I can only try.

No, first aid will be handled realistically in the story, using battlefield medicine that I was taught. So, an intense arterial bleed will require a tourniquet, and if that doesn't work, then my good friend QuickClot will make an appearance.

It's actually synthesized volcanic rock that has a chemical reaction with liquids. The reaction is that it gets really fucking hot, hot enough to cauterize wounds essentially. That's the basics of it. Gotta wipe away the excess blood away from the wound though so the stuff can actually get onto the cut veins or arteries. Also got to be careful because it can cause third degree burns. It also looks like kitty litter.

I like your choice in games there Sin...

Btw, are you going to include that skeletal- intravenous thing? I know a guy who was a medic, and this guy had been shot in the gut. When they knocked the thing into his chest, he screamed more...

Re: Lurker Wars 2 Discussion Thread

WE have a needle for chest decompression. I for the life of me, can not remember the name of it, but we wouldn't use it for abdominal wounds. Still though, its the only thing I can think of where we would be shoving it into a man's chest.

I was also taught how to "burp" a lung.

Re: Lurker Wars 2 Discussion Thread

I'm thinking of the experimental IV system, where instead of looking for a vein and all that can be surpassed. Basically you have 150 needles, and you knock them into the chestbone of the injured soldier. The IV fluids then spread through the body with mostly osmosis. Apparently, it hurts like HELL, but it works.
