Sincerely speaking I don't see what nanakusado thought was wrong with what D-gate did for Miria senki in term of gameplay.
Just make the character take instant damage when grabbed and than the animation is a bonus that if you want can be skipped by pressing a button.

Also the idea of releasing the H-version as a different game does seem like a cash grab

This dev should never open his mouth in public again and should have a friend of his help him with his business decisions and general interactions with the public. Expecting people to buy your shit A SECOND TIME after he already bait-and-switched them is absurd and almost and cringy as seeing people boost up the price of software they were developing just because they were " losing the motivation to continue developing/supporting it "

Not only did the dev make it clear at least a year ago that there would be two versions of the game, he regularly discussed the game's sale plans with the developer of Echidna Wars (DX), who helped out with developing the game and did the promotional art. I get that people that wanted the H content are dissatisfied, but trashing the game dev for things that are neither fair nor accurate is not going to accomplish anything.

In addition to the likely split between versions being referenced in Ci-en at least as early as the second-half of 2019, the last 4 months have been especially clear, even relying on Google Translate, that this first version wouldn't have H content. The DLsite version is also clearly marked as R15. Even without the information from Ci-en, it's questionable to buy the clearly-marked R15 version hoping for some side-channel R18 patch instead of just waiting if what you primarily wanted was the R18 stuff.

I'm frustrated that the R18 version is uncertain too, but if the dev really wanted a cash grab they'd have released the bug-riddled, jankier version from August of last year and then released a second version with their H assets slapped in there. Spending 8 extra months polishing a game and adding little touches like an English translation that will probably only translate to a few dozen extra sales, plus repeatedly noting that the R15 version will launch first and the R18 version will launch sometime later would be a pretty poor attempt at a cash grab.

I mean, it's clear the dev isn't greedy or lazy. Just that they don't really seem to understand it's not what their older supporters put their money into. It wouldn't be all bad if the engine he chose didn't slow down the larger its window was, but... that's just what it seems to do for this title. The game runs slowly when maximised, with a minor performance improvement with the no H-scene version, making it unlikely any supporter is supporting for the sake of gameplay.

Also, if he has been saying he's going to make a non-H version from as far back as a year ago, he's still continued to make H content for the title's original version past that point. I believe on his Ci-EN you can see that in trailers as early as January or late December... so honestly, I would say his constant mentioning of making a non-H version first isn't justified.

Why? Well, he's kept showing paid supporters demos of gameplay, extra enemies with implemented scenes, and had plenty of opportunities to release demos of what he'd finished for those extra stages with H-content included. But he just... hasn't. Intentional or not, he's both wasted months of development time making H animations for the sake of featuring in a gameplay trailer while simultaneously teasing his supporters with content they're never going to actually experience. Kind of twisted if you ask me!

One person on YT has uploaded Time Attacks of every stage, another person did a no-Continue run, and I would be uploading Time Attacks of my own if my PC wasn't way under the required specs to run the game at normal speed, something that I'd like to fix soon. I'll admit that I don't know if I would have given the game a shot or supported the dev after learning of the game if it wasn't for the vore content (specifically boss gargoyle's, I think it's the best vore scene in any ryona/hentai game), but the gameplay is fun.

As for continuing to produce H content, that just shows that they were working on both versions simultaneously. Although, the bulk (if not all) of the H content was created a lot earlier, like you can see Dran's full sex scene was put on the blog January of last year, 15 months ago. Could just be reposting stuff they already did. If you wanna get on them for wasting time, I think the censored sprites that were made for Steam that turned out to not even be necessary would be a better target, not that I would criticize them for taking steps to expand how many platforms they can use to sell the game. Might also add that the panties/nude versions of the final boss' game over vore scene were specifically just bonuses for paid supporters and weren't going to feature in the game. I think whether you interpret it as teasing supporters or giving them something extra depends on your own perspective of what the game developer was doing. Any complaints or comments about the handling of the H version really could just be brought directly to the game dev so that they can respond and take them into consideration. I think it's weird to see people trashing them here when I've talked to them directly on their blog. like everyone here can just talk to them directly too if they haven't already. Don't need to know Japanese, they'll machine translate English.

Regarding PC specs. Somehow my PC can run For Honor at mid-high graphic settings at 60+fps, yet I've experienced fps drops with this from just maximising this title's window. Zell23's latest title, Shiro No Yakata(?), interestingly enough happens to work fine, although you could argue that he doesn't throw around particles like this game does. In any case, this game's required specs are way too high for a 2D title (compared to Succubus Affection which does not have fps issues), so for people with worse PCs it's absolutely not about the gameplay because of the below average framerate and slowdown issues they're experiencing.

Coming to the H version vs the Non-H version... as has been established, the dev's been working on both versions simultaneously, and let me say that's absolutely fine. Making the non-H version is fine because of how steam is, which they're planning on releasing it to. I don't know why steam claims to be porn-friendly yet keep deleting titles, but it's a good call. Making the non-H version first is also fine because the dev can work out "fixing the game flow" for the H version... but really, I don't think it's necessary at all, people are gonna buy the H version for... well, the H.

As for the H version's... handling. What they're considering doing is just shrugging their shoulders and tossing it aside completely. Now... I personally could care less for how long it takes to be released after the non-H version because that's not the issue here. The issue is that they are or at least were planning on cutting that version completely.
That wasn't part of the deal when I supported them, and I am voicing my opinion on it.

Lastly... as for coming to the devs about this, I don't see the point. I'm not interested in having a chat with devs that are content to split their fanbase over a decision on a whim. I don't care where their passions lie and if they are good or bad people. They're considering not delivering what I supported for, and that has crushed any faith that I and most likely others I had in them.

The decision was not so much a whim as believing that the game was no longer worth the effort put into it, and that they had to hurry up and finish it and start something new that would sell better. They're not making games simply as a hobby, but a vital way to make enough money to make ends meet, and they believed the game wouldn't sell well enough. I understand being frustrated over them not delivering on what they initially planned to do, but keep in mind that it isn't like the developer is making these choices without reason. It isn't as though the developer is considering not making an H version of the game just because they don't feel like doing it anymore. Talking to them about making it wouldn't be a waste of time, it's not like they're unreasonable.

That said, I do find it annoying that the game runs so poorly on my PC. I'm getting as low as like ~6 FPS during sections of the game like stage 4's raining sections, when everything else I've touched (2D and 3D) ran at 60 FPS just fine. Even the title screen is running at around 20 FPS, 30 at best. I think the requirements are excessively high, but it is what it is. I guess I'll bring it up to the dev after I beat the game (currently at the start of stage 6), gonna give them a lot of feedback about it.

I wasn't sure between my lacking grasp of nuances in Japanese and the iffiness of the dev's English posts, but this time there's no ambiguity at all, the latest comment about an H version confirms it will happen, it's just a matter of when.

"H版を作らないとは言っていません。それらを準備するには時間が必要です。"
"I am not saying I won't make an H version. It will take time to make it."

This falls in line with the response I received about an R-18 version, which was something along the lines of "I am currently figuring out what to do for it", but due to the vagueness that is common in Japanese, I couldn't be certain if that didn't include deciding on whether or not to make it at all.

Truth be told I don't really care too much about this game, I just dislike when game devs break big promises. And laggy-ass engine aside it wasn't a bad game to play.

But uh, yeah, that's all I wanted to know. 'When' is much better than 'if' because it means that version will come and half their fanbase aren't getting kicked to the curb.

Also... I wonder if the whole 'I might not make the H version' statement was actually a translation error? I'd feel really bad if it was...

I'm pretty confident it was since nothing in Japanese indicated that was the case. Dunno what they wrote that could be mistranslated like that though.

Okay, what's up with the steam release? I've been waiting for it, and yet when it was supposed to come out today it got changed to "Coming Soon™". Also, what kind of censorship was gonna be in the steam version again? Is it possible to uncensor it with alternate files?

The developer posted censored sprites of the harpies (top added), demon girl boss (leotard added), Youki (panties replaced with bloomers, some panty shots removed), and the goblin girl (panty shots removed), with plans to remove panty shots elsewhere. Dunno of anything else.

I didn't ask them about it, but in a reply to me the developer said that the hentai version is planned for release in 2-3 months. They also said in their blog that they will resume development of it in May. The Steam release should be in a few days, it's been plagued with delays due to difficulties with the review process. Currently the 25th is set as the earliest release date.
